Sorry ,i dont use one really ,i have one in a tuneup utility i use ,it runs at the default setting ,just started using it so don't know if its any good .HERE
How much memory do you have on your computer ,what OS and what programs do you use that are having problems with not enough memory .

I don't understand the obsession with that line here. What is wrong with having that line? Why is it bothering so much ppl (me included)? Why would ppl temper with registry and crash the windows in attempt to get rid of it? Why did Bill Gates put it there in the first place? Why am I asking so many rhetorical questions about that line?

giving that memory managemet would be software ,should have been move to software !!

for starters remove this from you startup folder by going to start /allprograms and then into the startup folder and delet this , palstart.exe

scoot on over to the viruses trojans and other nasties ,section of this fourm and get hijackthis and post a hijacklog for review .IE is subject to spware/trojans problems that firefox and others are not .

Get hijackthis here and run it,do a scan only and copy paste the log into a new thread over in the virus section ,don't fix anything until told by one of the pros over there .

I have, the same thing happens... I've also tried to reinstall everything but that doesn't help either..

are You saying you reinstall windows !! and it still shows nothing on the screen after the boot ,you do see the bootup info that shows when the computer is turned on right !

Cheers for the reply mate, i've never tried using safe mode before, the layout of my desktop and folders looked completely different, it was a little disorienting :cheesy: , sadly though it did not work and i got the same error message as before.

Is there anything else i can try? thanks again.

hi ,in safe mode it looks different because the video drivers are not used ,and startup programs are not running ,anyway try this go to start /run type in CMD ,and
at the prompt ype DEL C:\My Shit\BitTorrent\BIT, note the space between DEL and C:\

have you tried safe mode, f8 on bootup,does you desktop show in safe mode ,could be virus related ,

have you tried doing it in safe mode ,safe mode hit f8 on bootup

so can't you just reinable the onboard pointing devices,you can use the tab key and the arrow keys to navagate

Hi ,a little more info on you computer stats will help like what OS, make ,model and stuff .also right click on mycomputer /properties /device manager ,any yellow ! marks around display adapter.

To add to above ,I do use it as my default browser and have been for about 2 yrs now ,tabs are so great that they are in IE 7 Beta.

I like and use the multiple homepages on Firefor i use 5 homepages all in there own tab, all open when firefox is opened .
as for removal ,yes just uninstall it through add and remove programs .

I have a Vaio PCG-R505DL laptop. When I insert a cd, or dvd it rarely plays. Most of the time it doesn't even recognize there is a disk in. Obviously I can't burn cd's either. I get an error asking me to insert a blank disk in the drive. I had originally thought the problem was with the hardware and replaced the docking station. It's still doing the same thing. Is there anything that can be done?

By replacing the dock,does that mean that you have a new dvd/cdrom drive .or just a new dock.is the dock new or just new to you .[used]

Yeah, but what do you do if you lose the disk used to intall it? I have this problem. I was given the camera from one of my friends. He had the program installed on his pc, but lost the list. Can anyone help?

And if it does not give the option to change itt ,you've lost you video drivers and they will need to be reinstalled .

i could be wrong but i think it madders what one is blugged in first ,,not really sure if an assined letter would remain once you removed the usb drive.I have a usb 1 gig thumbdrive and a 4 in 1 card reader and it depends on what one i plug in first , as to the one that gets assigned [E]the letter in between my master cdrom and my secondary cdrom .

I have the same problem, how can I scan the drive c: in DOS mode? I type commands like dir, keyb, and it doesn't work. I think there's something that escapes to me, but i'm very stressed for this for days ago and now my mind is overlocked!

i have windows 95 on a computer and it had aol on it when it was given to me but when i try to connect it say aol can not detect dial tone but the modem makes a dialing sound what could be wrong:confused:

make sure that the aol is an active account ,if the line is coming fron phone make sure the phone line is plugged into the phone side of the mdem and not the wall side if the lien is coming from the wall make sure it plugged into the wall side ..

do you have any earlier system restore points to return to

try tools /accounts and recreat the account might help

Have you tried changing the settings ,rebooting the computer and then changing back the setting back to what you want to accomplish

Lately my research has shown the mobo in the Touch sys. PC is a Gigabyte model GA-6BXC, and at rev 1.7, it is unable to support higher coppermine FC PGA CPUs that would go to 755 or so... My 800 MHz slot 1 P3 would not work...so where can I use these high end slot 1 processors I wonder? I did get what is called a SlotKET, it allows 370 chips to mate on a slot 1 card, so I was able to retain settings on the above board and use a 500MHz Celeron on the adapter, jumping the speed up from 400, the top P2 speed I think.
Anyway, the password page has stopped coming up and is not an issue at present but thanks for the info though!!

you may be able to get a 700 or 800 plll socket 370 to work in the slocket ,i have had success a few time doing this .100\133 bus speed jumpers on the slocket make it possiable with some boards

i also do it with my own laptop and my daughters new compaq does the same as you acer .acer is going to make you make a copy and use that !! as for belarc not sure why the key is different

No ,one of the cheapest things you can buy for a computer these days .

The profile has a ntuser.dat file, it is 2.25mb with a current date.

What I meant on the boot up process, after loading windows generally you get a blue screen that runs you through some prompts and then states you have finished loading windows xp and then you go to a screen that runs xp tour. I did not get the blue screen just went straight to the OS with the Start Menu popped up and xp tour on the screen. Each time I boot up the Start Menu pops up and resets to the default icons. My changes are not saved.

Sounds to me like you are install windows each time you boot your computer ,don't run setup every time you boot computer

sound like time to take to repair shop ,unles you can take it apart and fix it yourself
