or you could get the appropriate file from www.bootdisk.com and use Nero to create a bootable disk copying the files to it in the process
@Caperjack
Have actually previously advised you on this issue... in most cases drivers for Win7 are not difficult to find, as 99% of Vista drivers will work just fine!!. If you haven't bothered to follow advice, or responded/posted as to where you are stuck, don't bother whinging!
lol,i knew someone did
Because it is more likely to work on it than XP is!
but with out drivers for some hardware !whats the point .I installed 7 and had no drivers for my video, wireless usb device and nic card ,so no internet ,other that that it worked great! but what the point ,i say wait for it and buy it on a new computer built for it !
Windows 7 isn't released yet. I doubt you will find a driver until it is.
if t hat is the case then why did you just advise someone else to install it[win7] on a laptop that they wanted to downgrade to winxp!
Hello Guys,
I badly need assistance with a problem am facing with my HP laptop. I jst acquired a new laptop but the problem is that its Vista is in polish which requires me to re-install the OS. I want to downgrade to XP but it crashes whenever i try to do it. I believe the problem is related to SATA something but i need some assistance on how to go about it coz i need to start using the machine asap.
Agree with Rik,
sounds like you are in over your head ![sata something] ! this means you need to hit F6 on install and sata drivers for the harddrive !this has to be done with a floppy drive ,or slip stream the drivers into a windows disk with a program like Nlite
Well it is only a guess but I'd say if you have a boot disk (Ubuntu works well) try it. It will have tools to test your drive.
i agree, sounds like the hard drive to me also, link to knoppix in my signature
I just tried that and didn't work , anyone has another solution?
did you reboot your computer after the uninstall ,also are you using high speed internet and do you run it on a fairly good computer ,what are your computers specs, right click on mycomputer and go properties ,what is you cpu and ram
I am getting a message that states that "phoquxa.dll" is not a valid windows image and application. How do I get rid of this error?
Thanks.
when do you get the error ,and are you sure you are spelling it right
windows vista not good .i am wait windows 7 .lol
I think you just want people to click on links in your signature ,
If you can get to the BIOS when the HDD is out, if you need to change settings do so then and give up on doing it with the HDD in!
Sorry - it's beaten these two brains on the iinformation we have.
very good suggestion
maybe you could buy a AGP video card with vista drivers and add it to the board ,
Mga bos alam marami kayong alam sa computer at ako wala naglakas loob lang akong sumali dahil alam kong marmi akong matutunan sa inyo. paano ba mag install ng software sa computer?
yes English is language of choice here ,thank you
loose translated you question
[Bos know many of you know the computer and I do not naglakas within just joined because I knew I marmi I picked you. how do I install software on computer?]
The computer boots up smoothly with no beeps or anything. It works perfectly. My concern is that the BIOS can't be edited, so I know something is wrong. One thing I noticed: If I remove the hard drive and boot into settings, then the BIOS can be changed.
Weird ,i have nothing to offer as i have never seen this problem before ,sorry
That's correct.
so ,please explain what happens when you turn on the computer ,now after the install ,what shows on the screen if anything,do you hear any error beeps, anything you can add will help us help you
Hey guys,
When I installed XP, I went through the setup, formatted the drive, and went through all the steps. Did I miss something, or do I just need to do it again?
Thanks
went through all what steps,Did I miss something, !!?
do you mean it copied files asked for the windows key and stuff and then didn't work
sound like a bad harddrive to me
Nah - the problem is most likely related to the old FDISK/Format tools used from the ME toolset. I think you need to use the tool set on the XP CD to build your HDD as I mentioned earlier.
I'd like to see if others back my recommendation.
I agree, and i do think you can install the upgrade with out have ME installed first ,give it a try ,boot to the winxp upgrade and go from there ,some where along the line it will ask for you to put the ME disk in the drive for clarification ,I have never done it with xp ,but did it just last night with a Vista Ultimate upgrade disk
the file in that link is explorer.rar
In a previous thread the member was advised to remove the battery for a while and retry. My battery is dead, because I don't use it, but I tried it anyway.
Hi, they were referring to the cmos/bios battery [and its inside the case plugged into the motherboard ]and not the laptop battery!
i took it apart and it has 3 slightly leaky capacitors that may be causing it or may have caused it to overheat and damaged it some how ,i will return it to enviro depot ,lol
the use of autofix will solve your problem.
edit ,as will above suggestion posted while i was looking for autofix ,
Hi all,
Thanks for your rplies. I tried running various registry cleaners about a year back but that did not solve the problem.
I just read about HiJackThis somewhere else also and maybe that will help??
Not sure how to use it but will give it a try. Thanks to all of you for your replies and especially for suggesting HiJackThis.
scan with hijackthis save log and post it here ,don't fix anything until advised.
also make sure you have latest acrobat installed
hi, i would first start with a program free called www.CCleaner.com and use its registry cleaner to see if it removes anything related to Visual studio, gig that a try
Hi, I have a 4 yr old lcd monitor that when you turn it on it flashes the content of the desktop but that's all will not stay on the power switch light goes from green to orange/yellow ,any ideas ,don't know the history on the monitor ,like if it started acting up over time or just started doing this out of the blue
Thanks for the quick replies! I appreciate it. Great Community.
:icon_mrgreen:
as a beginner one thing i always did just to be safe ,unplug the data storage drive so as to not get confused when formatting and format the wrong one ,then just plug it back in when finished reloading windows
wink wink !
let me as you a question does the tower have a sticker on the side with the windows activation key on it .if so reload windows
good luck
My cars working fine thank!
If you ever intend to connect it to the internet I you i would get a winxp pro cd and reload that tower ,you have no idea what malicious program could be lurking just waiting to grab you personal info.
if there is no key on the case for windows ,you could use this key finder to get the key being used on it ,
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/
It sure will!
agree with RIC,20 bucks for a cd drive, cheap psu's go for about 22.00,just how much could one make fixing them
My mother board is INTEL 915GAV. Can I only use DDR2 400 and 333MHz rams? Do you know other speed rams supported this mother board.
hi,sorry but it only supports ddr 400 and 333,up to 4gigs,
and its DDR1 ,not DDR2
All instructions are carried out at your own risk. If it that badly broken what are you gong to lose, but remember The cost of the data on the system = time to recover the system and data x the salary of the person or entity doing it
Have you access to another PC? If yes remove the disk and mount it in the other PC. Has it got a COA on the box if yes then OK, If no then download keyfinder and once installed browse to the windows directory or what ever folder the windows is installed into. That should get you the product installation code. Search or look for the i386 directory copy the entire directory to another hard disk. Get a boot image for XP either download or use ISObuster (another Download and install) to get one from an XP disk. You will need the cd label for the version installed google for XP cd lables. That little lot will enable you to use some cd burning software to assemble a bootable CD to re install xp without have to buy one. More complete instruction can be found on the web.
No other PC? this is tricker But if you have another PC and if you have already done the backup bit. you can do all the copying and pasting and creating on the broken disk using the instructions below. Yes they do work as I have used them to recover non booting disks, security …
C:\WINDOWS\system32\uacinit.dll (Trojan.Agent) ->
No action taken
did you click to fix it
cant help it ,i just have to reply ,you don't say what motherboard it is ,but with that cpu and amount of ram and video ram if its slow .i'll trade you my P4 2.6 for it lol
as far as i think u should go to ur internet explorer history. its the best way and also reliable
IE ,history and temp file both can be set to delete when you close the browser !just go to tools and internet options, also computer are used for a lot more than accessing the internet .
I was going to suggest same info posted by Chaky
It would be nice if someone knew the answer to this problem . We cannot download anything as we can't get past the black screen with the message on about a missing 32 file, Also I do NOT have the OS disk , it was pre-installed by Dell.
hi,because you have no disk, the the solution for you is take your computer to a good computer repair shop
did you rename the exe in programs folder or just the icon on the desktop .
is it a lcd monitor ,make sure to turn off the monitor ,unplug it from power source ,,then boot computer first ,then plug in and turn on the monitor
Hello everyone
I have read through this whole forum a couple of times. A lightning strike near my house yesterday sent my computer spinning in this mode. I'm almost positive I have Windows XP Home edition on the computer, but this computer was made many years ago and do not have that original disc. I have a Windows XP Pro disc here to run recovery mode. When I boot from the disc and go to recovery mode, I'm getting that list of options, and like everyone else, I'm doing CHKDSK. Here's the catch: When I run chkdsk it doesn't actually fix anything. It says "chkdsk found one or more errors on the volume" but doesn't say it fixed anything. I type EXIT and my computer restarts, and I've looped to the same "we apologize..." screen. Is it maybe that I have a Pro disc instead of Home? Or is it maybe a hardware issue and CHKDSK cannot resolve it?
run this ,"chkdsk /r" without the 2 "
Then why are many successfully running on 7-8 year old machines that Vista couldn't run on?? Just don't rely on the OEM's to supply the drivers.
Soundblaster card - Creative has always been slack in supporting pre-release OS's, but is very possible to get the card functioning in Win7. Follow this guide - proven to work.
ATI - AMD have only recently released drivers for Win7. ATI drivers are another headache for pre-release Windows OS users, but at least this time around they have gotten their act together a little more. These drivers did not exist when Win7 RC1 was first released, but are now ready to roll.
Antivirus - Avast and AVG BOTH work just fine in Win7, but make sure you get the latest releases. For a list of AV's certified by Microsoft as Win7 ready, see here.
Wireless - most of us are seeing wireless out of the box. Now I've already responded to that complaint of yours elsewhere, and advised to make sure you have the latest drivers from manufacturer not the OEM. Also, do not rely on OEM Wireless utilities to be without bugs... best to use Win7 native utilities for that.
thank you ,will look into links and maybe take more time to get it right ,thanks again
Thats a reply i expected... I wanted to know the softwares which i could use for the purpose...
thanks
another option !right click on a link and chose open in new window /tab
7 [manufactures]will not have driver for the old machine ,i have tried it on a few different older machines now! my ATI 9200 agp drivers would install but not work ,my soundblaste audigy and wireless device would not function !AVG and Avast would install but not run
also you could slave the mother in-laws hard drive into your computer to copy here pictures and other valuables to your drive and then replace it into here's and format and reload windows xp.
http://free-tips-tricks.blogspot.com/2009/01/how-to-reinstall-windows-xp.html
