hi,try hitting f8 on boot up and login to safe mode ,see if it will let you into admin acct there ,then go to users in control panel and create a new user acct with admin rites

you need to add it to the send to drop down list .

here is how i did it !
go to mycomputer ,right click on the slave drive and click to create short cut ,save it to your desktop, then you make sure you have show all files set ,in mycomputer go to tools /folder options /view ,and check off show all file and folders ,then open start/ Run box .
Type %userprofile% and hit enter
In the folder that opens you should be able to see a folder called "sendto, open it and copy and past the shortcut to the slave you created on the desk top .it should now appear in the drop down list

did you try reinstalling ms frontpage , doing a ms office repair install

i think ibm is f2 maybe/ for bios or boot menu

your choice ,only program that needs to be running at startup is a antivirus program,my opinion

Can someone please help? When I try to click on my outlook 2003 icon it is defaulting to outlook express. I also noticed a messenger icon in the bottom right corner saying that I am not logged in. I do not recall downloading windows messenger. I am in desperate urgent need to get this fixed. I do not see anything funny in the task manager. I am on a network/xp os. Two anti virus didn't find anything, while one did. I was unable to restore from previous date. I have tried in safe mode. The same program that found something the first time found a couple other things. Help Please.

first off windows messenger is installed with windows !
open internet explorer ,go to tools /internet options /programs /and make sure outlook 2003 is set as default email , and for messenger ,click on it to open it and go to tools /options and uncheck to run at start up

Not HDD drivers or other are the problem(if the SATA drva re the problem will get error "no HDD found"). This it's happening after install or in time of installation? If it's after, try to format and install again; if it's in time of, try on other version of windows and send them a email.

yes it could be video, but are you sure its a working monitor,also how did you blow the other one !

Am I supposed to put in the drivers when the installation gets to where I would hit the F6 button?

If so then where do I get them and how do I get them into the mix?

sounds like you need sata drivers ,should be able to find them on dell site using the service tag, you will need to use a floppy drive to install them ,using the f6 on install, if no flloppy ,get one or use a program like nLite to created a slipstream disk with the drivers

My Inspiron 6000 lights up and blacks out; sometimes after an hour or so, or after only 5 minutes. Once gone it has to be rebooted and then may or may not respond. I do keep a 5 lb. sledge close-by, but would like some alternate solutions, please.

duel core is first generation 2 core cpu's, then came core 2 duo,then came quad core .so if newer is better then core 2 duo is better than dual core

yes it is fun, i use to spend 15-20 hrs of scanning on some customers computers [charging them same as if i formatted ],but gave that up, you can never trust you actually get it all and you may still be compromising important info !

ADAM=You don't actually need to install this app everybody keeps downloading.... All you need to do is change a registry value.

After hours of messing around with RegEdit + Yahoo Messenger + Microsoft's Virtual PC I've found the problem and a solution to why apps like Msn Messenger suddenly can't remember their passwords anymore.

When Yahoo toolbar gets installed it sets the following registry value:

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-796845957-926492609-725345543-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]
AppData = %AppData%

The problem here is AppData should actually be the following

AppData = %USERPROFILE%\Application Data

So when MSN or other apps that use that registry key go to save their data it gets lost.

So the solution is simple, run regedit and go to

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-796845957-926492609-725345543-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]

and set the value AppData to a data value of %USERPROFILE%\Application Data

I realize that 66 previous posts is a lot to read, but you should really read them before posting that at this juncture...

I didn't explain the whole situation. There were lots of files. Originally four of us were on the same account and this goes back five years. Having adventurous grandchildren around all summer made me feel it might be better to split the accounts and make one for them as well. I cut and pasted the owners' folders into C:/Documents and Settings from the original account and then created three new ones in Control Panel/User Accounts. Maybe this wasn't a good idea. I have now gone back to the original setup. It could be that because certain features did not work with the new accounts Windows needs re-installing. I counted 5 problems: Help files run with script errors, website won't publish, Yahoo only opens in Classic mode, the Yahoo I.D. picture deleted itself, some websites in IE7 open as blank pages.

first thing that comes to mind is , go to start /run ,type in with out the quotes ,"scannow /sfc " , note there is a space between W and / , you may be prompter to inserts you winxp cd to replace missing windows system files

I have often thought of downgrading myself. but I keep hearing that I won't be able to find the drivers necessary to run the hardware in my Vista native system.

check web sites of the makers of your hardware. if you own a major brand computer like Compaq/HP/Dell or what ever ,do a search with the service tag /model # for winxp drivers

try a repair first ,open Outlook ,go to help, expand it so all list show and choose 'detect and repair,worth a try

You don't format a computer ,We use the word Computer in reference to the whole thing ,Therefor we format a hard drive,

If your C:\ contains your install of windows and you format it you will need to reinstall windows and all necessary drivers for your devices !
If C: does not contain your install of winxp ,then go disk management in control panel ,admin tools .

a suggestion for malwarebytes ,go to C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware,and change mbam.exe to biteme.exe and try running it from there

hi my suggestion would be to take it to someone who know laptops ,so they can take a look and listen ,very hard for us to say not sitting in front of the laptop ,as she thinks it's the fan ,then maybe its the fan ,you could start with a can of compressed air to clean out the fan ,you don't even mention the laptop model so we could at least search the net to see if the fan is actually on the left side ,thanks

there should be "NO" very important files/data on you computer that hasn't bee backed up to DVD by now ! your harddrive could die at any time !
