did you hit f6 at the start of the install to load drivers for the scsi controller card drivers/or onboard scsi device .may or may not be necessary to do so ,you will need the drivers for the device ,i know in my case i have them on a floppy ,but mines is older computer with a pci scsi device that i first need to load drivers before winxp see the scsi drive .are you sure its a scsi and not a s-ata drive ,if so same applies for bot types of drives in some cases winxp will have drivers for sata drive ,

if you have a manual of the motherboard check chapter 5, about installin an os . ,if you don't have a manual download this one for your board .your mother board should have come with a cdrom with drivers on it for the s-ata drive

borrow a good windows disk same version as yours .from a friend or who ever ,one that is not a sony or dell or gateway, you know not a recover install disk ,and use it along with your key ,to get a install with out all the s-it

You have 30 programs running at startup ,the 04's in the log and a few of them have the power to call home at any given time .

also bad ram is somtime the cause to a lot of stop errors ,memtest86 is a good free memory tester ,the site has files and direction on how to create , a floppy boot disk or a cdrom bootdisk ,good luck

about a week ago i was doing a disk cleanup and then i did an error check on the operating system... after restarting. it did the error check and wound up on the blue screen. i haven't been ablee to do nething.

Also you could try to run a repair ,boot computer to the winxp cd and choose R ,then 1 for c:\windows ,then hit enter for the password ,when you get to the c:\windoes prompt type in . chkdsk /r to run the disk check again

all i kno is that i get the blue screen with the following error:

Computer #1 sounds like its CPU overheating ,maybe just a bad fan ,,time to take it to a computer shop for a checkup..

I am trying to rebuild my computer and wipe everything out making it like it was when bought new. I think the way I'm doing it im just reinstalling the program and not erasing everything. What are the steps to rebuild the computer and reload the windows xp on the computer. I wouldn't think this computer should be trashed yet its a custom built 2gb ram 2.81ghz 160g hard drive with hyperthreading. Had it about 3 years was still fast until late, how would a new computer with the intel core 2 duo or amd compare to this? would it be much faster or about the same figuring 2gb ram.. any help here??

the first part i can answer ,yes ghost make exact image of drive ,don't know enough about networking so i can't answer 2nd part .

not much you can do ,as the key is not on the cd anywhere ,it was on the sticker .you could try calling Microsoft though they be able to help you !! .

if you can get into win98 ,just edit the boot.ini file ,removing the winxp reference .

I bought a external hard drive recently and duly NTFS formatted it. Now, the problem is Win ME doesn't recognise it. Is it possible to partition the the external HDD into 2 such that one is FAT32 and the other NTFS? If so, would that allow me to use the Ex HDD on both XP and ME without problems?

A google search for info on the FakeMSNBeta finds little help some even seem to suggest its a false positive find by Spybot .the info\help out there is little, this post is actually # 3 in google the find list .one site suggest to make sure you are using spybotversion 1.4 and not 1.3 the older version .

I have a hp laptop nx9105 which lately has been having problems, It will lose power for no reason, and it will show a blue screen when trying to activate some programs, after ringing hp they told me it was a hardware fault and it would cost £375 to have a look at it, but the laptop is only worth about £400 so this would be pointless.

I have performed tests on the hard drive and its fine, I have taken out the RAM and swapped it round and that didn't help.

I have tried reinstalling windows but the laptop loses power during the setup program, I was wondering if it was a problem with the graphics driver which is a nivda GeForce 4 440 go 64M. But I have tried reinstalling this driver and it has made no difference.

The blue screen of death messages vary, some have no reason, others are because of a ndis.sys failure, others occur due to IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL message.

It has also lost power during a RAM test, but as I have swapped the RAM, I dont think this is the problem.

I am fairly sure my windows installation is currupted, but as I cannont reinstall or repair without the laptop losing power I cannot be sure.

If any one knows how to fix this problem or what it could be please let me know as I feel I have tried everything I can think of and all I want to …

As posted above !!thats because you need to choose Which Windows installation would you like to log onto, by typing 1 [if that what showes like this #1 c:\windows #1]then enter ,then password if you used one if not just hit enter ,then you can type commands.type help for a list of commands.

ok,your harddrive is like,full.so you have to do as suggested and backup you music and picture and other created data files to cd or dvd ,
also did you empty you recycle bin,what you really need to do is decide on removal of some of the programs you don't need or use very often and uninstall them

ok ,on the other site you were told to do the following did you do this ,

check in msconfig..and untick Ms Reg checker.
Start>run>type msconfig>startup tab.
Ms Reg checker comes preinstalled in Win98se..not the most reliable Microsoft application.

if it were MoBo the power supply would still turn on and power up the fans and stuff .

hi, on the site linked it tells the file size of the legit ones ,spyware can use the same name ,butthe file size would be different have you check the file size of all 3 file you find

dose it give you "last known good configuration" in the list .

first spywareblaser is a blocker not a removal tool ,what version of spybot are you using ,if 1.3 download 1.4 ,update it and scan again ,. also get hijackthis [both programs in the spyware & parasites link below ]and run scan and post log here .

when you boot your computer hold down the f8 key ,when you get the options on the screen arrow key up to safe mode ,hit enter ,say yes to the next prompts ,click on administrator when you get to the choices ,now go to start click on control panel ,when in control panel go to USERS Accounts ,in there click on change an account,then click on the one you use if more than one shows up.then click on change or remove password ,remove the one that there ..
