After reading all the hype about the random ware virus I installed BufferZone Pro 64 bit. Worked o.K the first day but after booting today all my visual styles in windows 7 home premium disappeared ( aero glass etc) to make the opened windows really look poor. After uninstalling, everything went back to normal. Hmm, any ideas as I like the protection of virtualisation?

I downloaded AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition on a computer that runs Windows 98 and uses a slow dial-up connection. When I went to install AVG an "Expired Download" box appeared, advising me to download the latest version. I ignored this and installed my AVG download 7.5.503. Everything went fine. But I noticed a red exclamation mark on the AVG screen and I ran a "Check For Updates." I thought it was nearly finished as it reached 100 percent but the Time Left line began counting upward. Confused by this, I cancelled the process. I wonder if I should try to …

A few days ago, I discovered that I have "**s7.addthis.com**" on my main computer, which I believe is a bad malware. I noticed some odd behaviour in my browser on some web sites. (I mainly use Pale Moon Version 25.3.1 x64). My computer is running Windows Pro SP1 x64. Of course, I tried to find ways to remove it but, so far, nothing has worked. I have already gone through all the steps *before* asking for help here, such as MS Malicious Software Removal Tool, ATF-Cleaner, GMER, MBAM, DDS, and have the scan logs. Anybody on Daniweb willing to help …

I fell pray to a nasty malware\trojan that cripped my computer, whereas when I logged onto Windows, whether it was a standard account or an administrator account, all I got was a blank screen, no icons, no desktop. To make matters worse, I was getting help on another forum; supposedly this person was suppose to know how to fix this issue, they have made it worse, by doing registry key edits, whereas now, I can log into my administrator account, with a blank desktop, but my standard account logs in, and after a few seconds, logs back out, automatically, not …

I have looked everywhere, I looked through regedit, I can't see anything on control panel, it's not on extensions, I have reset firefox, I recently ran a MalwareBytes scan and you think it would catch this, but I just can't figure it out. It's only on Mozilla it seems but somehow CouponDrowDown ads are showing up and I can't figure it out. Any ideas... picture below. http://i.imgur.com/q69KDQf.png

Ok so here's the breakdown... * I have never installed Wajam * I never wanted Wajam * I'm not sure what keeps installing it, my guess so far is there is a background process running that I don't know about that keeps installing Wajam * One clue might be is that sometimes out of the blue a command prompt window will popup and then dissapear almost instantly. I can't remember the title of the window. Also whenever Wajam is installed it opens a webpage that has to do with "FastandFreeDownloads" Any ideas... I have had to go to Conrol Panel …

There are some "funny" people in the class, playing best crackers/hackers in the world. I've got one enemy in the class (nothing serious, he's having problems with like 4 people or some). He might've used Skype resolver in order to be able to come after what my IP is, and since my network is 20Mbps only, while most of our classmates have 150Mbps. I think he might run DoS attack on me. Notable "symptomes", giant lag, that is ping sometimes reaching even up to 7000ms. Browsers do long over to download pages, while at speed of 20Mbps they did really …

Hi, Malware Bytes has stopped scanning. I had bought the full professional, and it stopped scanning files on request (from the pop-up menu when you right-click on files). I then realised it wouldn't update, and reinstalls have failed. The other virus software I use is simply Windows Defender. I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo Y480. I performed the "Read me Before" tasks, and AFT-Cleaner and GMER failed, and Windows Malicious Software Removal tool found nothing on a quick scan. Currently running a deep scan. DDS.scr says it "Will not run in compatibility mode" and closes. So, I basically haven't …

Hi there, I have a big problem and I need help. Yesterday as I sat on my pc a strange program called Win 7 Antivirus Plus 2013 appeared. It says it's an antivirus and shows up the following message: "System hijack! System security threat was detected. Viruses and/or spyware may be damaging your system now. Prevent infection and data loss or stealing by running a free security scan." I have not installed it and it shows up for a first time, so I don't know what to do. It looks suspicious for it's 2014 now and the program is out …

It's an Acer Aspire 5610. Lovely machine. Until now, had it a few months no problems. Logged in today around 5pm, and it says "USB device malfunctioned".. the only usb device i had was my mouse, which i've been using since i bought it. So that struck me as odd. Carried on using it, internet (wireless), WMPlayer, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and IE all running. Went to get a drink at around 6:45pm whilst it logged into GMail. Come back and it's off. turn it back on (it's running off the mains) and it checks disk and tells me \progam files\Norton …

Hello Community, I was just wondering what this url is "https://fbcdn-photos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/hellocdn.html?v=1" for some reason on start-up my computer will open this url not all the time but occasionally. It doesn't do anything it just gives my a blank page, the HTTPS certificate is in affect so I don't thing it's a dodgy website (I hope it isn't). I'm running Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security and that hasn't picked it up as a bad website, I've also scanned the URL using the Trend Micro url scanner and the Norton url scanner and both have said it's an "OK" website. I started up my laptop the other day which is windows xp service pack 2, and when I logged in to windows this cmd.exe black screen thing came up for about a second - not enough time to read what it said?! Then about 3 minutes later the blue screen of death came up but literally for about a second as well, and then the computer restarted. Then 3 mins later the exact same thing happened! It just kept happening like a loop, so I just quickly got the task manager up and deleted any random processes - one of …

I got a notice from "Lifelock" that stated Adobe announced last month that some of its customers' usernames and passwords had been stolen. The company says it reset the stolen passwords and notified its customers. Adobe also says the stolen data included credit-card information for some of its customers. That data was encrypted, and it's not clear whether the hackers have the ability to decode it. What we found on black-market websites related to you was only your username and password. Adobe did not contact me but I can still login. Should I be concerned about the usernames and passwords …

The problem started with getting redirected when we searched with Google. So we tried other search engines which worked for a little while but now it doesn't matter which search engine we use. If you go back to the original search after you are redirected a time or two you can finally get to the website you want. But now also when we try to go to the Google website it pops up: "Unable to connect: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at www.google.com. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few …
