Computer working ok however wishing to re instal xp .get so far then error message saying windows does not detect hard drive

Jump to Posti guess you have sata drive. so while windows setuo initializing drivers just before the installation, you are offered press F6 button to install scsi, raid controller drivers. so all you need is to install them with the floppy which is come with MoBo.
