Let's start by saying I'm not very technical, so please be patient with me. Within the last 6 months my motherboard died. At that point we put together a new system & the only items that we didn't replace were the cd/dvd drives, sound card, ati video card, and processor. We have since replaced the video card with an nvidea one.

A couple of months ago we got the BSOD several times in a row for one day, then not at all til this week (unless the kids haven't told me about having it happen to them). They say they have gotten them several times per day every day this week. The messages say IRQL not less or equal, though the last one said Memory management. Please understand I was not home this week due to a family health crisis & only found out this was going on last night. So I may not have all the details on the symptoms.

I did look at the event viewer for errors. Here they are minus any repeats. Some look almost the same & the ATI ones repeated a lot. I know there has to be something left from the old ATI video card causing this, but I don't know how to fix that. Any clues on what is going on & what I can do about it??? I need to get this computer straightened out since our other desktop fried the motherboard recently. We need something for the kids to do homework on until we can do something about their dead computer. Thanks in advance!

best way to unistall a driver is through safemode device mamager in control panel - system - hardware - device manager.another thing you could do is, is a search on the HDD for any ATI stuff and then go to Start - run type regedit and search the registry and delete ATI stuff.but be careful in the registry dangerous place.

Get this and test your memory.

http://www.memtest86.com/

Make sure all your cables are connected good and you cards and memory are inserted good.

go to NVidia and get there latest drivers for you Video card.

Hi

When you replaced you motherboard did you reinstall XP or do an XP repair. XP does not like hardware like MB and CPU changes with a reinstall or repair so do this and it may solve you problem
