I am trying to install my HP Scanjet 4850. I have been able to download all of the software. When I try to install the scanner I get the following message from Device Manager "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (code 19)
My OS is Windows XP Professional SP2. I have tried 2 different registry scan and repair programs without success. No luck from HP about a fix. Is there a way for me to fix this registry problem? Thanks.

Have you been to HP website and followed trouble shooting route
At the bottom you can email Hp and get an answer in an hour. I have used this service for a printer problem and it works really well.
