I'm not sure what you mean by 4 links off the original? Do you mean that it is a simple five page website?

It depends upon what keywords you bid on. I bid on $1 CPC keywords and I bid on $0.01 CPC keywords. Google AdWords had a $0.01 minimum while Yahoo! has a $0.10 minimum.

That link just brings you to the thread management page in your control panel. It doesn't solve the problem.

If you want to go the route of in-text advertising, there's Vibrant Media, Tribal Fusion's echo something-or-other (sorry, I forget the actual name off hand), Kontera, and ContextWeb. I'm sure there are more. :)

I guess the only question to ask is if whether you want an inhouse or outsourced solution? in house => try something called sphinx at sphinxsearch.com outsource => google rack

I think it's fine ... like if you had it in a right column and that column didn't scroll, to give the illusion of frames. Nothing in google's tos says it's not allowed since you're not directly editing any of the actual adsense code.

I'm not sure what you mean ... I assume that they gave you regular HTML code. If that's the case, you will need to edit your current vBulletin style and add the HTML code wherever you want. It takes some general knowledge of HTML to know where to add it, …

One of my interior pages went from a PR6 to a PR7 last month. If this was two years ago, I would have been excited.

Join the club :) Without disclosing actual data, the vast majority leave DaniWeb within seconds. However, 96% of our traffic comes from Google. Our major problem seems to be that just soooo many people land on individual thread pages as a result of performing Google searches, and if they don't …

As DaveSinkula loves to point out to me, RSS feeds were designed with blogs in mind and therefore don't translate so well into forums ... the only way to set it up while conforming to RSS standards is based on new threads as opposed to new posts or last updated …

CSS is meant to be used in conjunction with HTML. HTML pages are still going to be the pages that are accessed by the web browser and contain all of the content. CSS will just help you style the page differently - it's 100% aesthetics.

Google PR, or PageRank, is just a scale of how many other webpages out there point to your site.

Favorite is Cold Stone ... a scoop of Cake Batter, a scoop of Cheesecake, beat together with cookie dough pieces, chunks of yellow cake, chocolate shavings, and a stream of fudge mixed in. Second favorite is Cookie Dough Dippin' Dots, conveniently (or maybe not) five steps away from Coldstone.

Web Analytics software is definitely a necessity, and with Google Analytics, it's free to boot. If you find yourself needing more powerful software, you can make the move when the time is right and you have the resources to support it.

People outside the US can't use it and I don't know when they'll be able to. Preferably, I use AdSense ... AdSense targeting is better but you do get slightly more per click with YPN. However, because their targeting isn't as great, you get fewer clicks, so it evens itself …

> have you ever tried on creating a dropdown menu inside the dropdown menu? Yep, I have. In the end I decided it was too cluttered-looking for the benefit it would bring. However, I'm redoing DaniWeb's navigation menu and will consider adding it.

Which is worse ... The fact that Google AdSense Referrals is showing ads for phone sex operators on an IT forum when targeting is set up to only fetch ads from the Computer category, or the fact that I actually made $9 when someone signed up?

This entire thread just seems to be one of the effects of trying to put everything IT related under one roof ... in doing so, we're putting clashing communities with different subcultures together. The developers here would find renting out signature links implausable. However, it is a VERY common practice …
