For example, for the link Best Search Engine Ever, the anchor text is "best search engine ever", and the URL points to google.com. Cloaking is when a single page serves one thing to a website visitor and something completely different to a search engine bot. For example, the website visitor might see the way you want the page to look, but the bot might see something that is completely tailored for optimal SEO, …

I have found that Google sometimes completely rewrites my title tags! Not just shortens them, but often completely rewrites them. It's strange, but not something we have much control over.

Numerous SEO publications are reporting that Google has decided to hide keywords from referral information for everyone logged into their Google account when they perform a search. What this means is that sites will no longer know what keywords were typed in to land at the resulting page. It's really …

I believe they are not a network but instead simply a company which produces DART, an ad server. In other words, as a publisher, you would pay them for their DART service to serve advertising you sell yourself.

I went ahead and renamed the 'Contribute News Stories' forum to the 'Contribute Editorial' forum because that is specifically its purpose, and it can work just as well with tutorials as with news stories. http://www.daniweb.com/community-center/contribute-editorial/178 Anything that you post in there can only be seen by yourself as well as …

You can use our thread subscription feature. You can create multiple subscription folders and subscribe to various threads in each folder, as a way of grouping them. Also, you can make use of the Threads I've Started link at the bottom of every page.

Since switching to this design, the number of new threads posted daily has decreased by 75%. New posts, new registrations, and traffic has remained consistant. Is the "new thread" button really hard to locate? Confusing? What is wrong?

Each individual page should only target one or two keywords. The keywords shouldn't be repeated in an unnatural way. They should be built naturally into the content.

Why would we upload tutorials to Github and then have moderators manage them there? Why not just post the tutorials straight onto DaniWeb?

When you do site:domain.com, it is NOT an accurate tool to measure how many pages on your site are indexed by Google. You need to use Google Webmaster Tools at www.google.com/webmasters/ to get a more accurate picture. Then, as has been suggested, create a Sitemap.

I want to encourage more people to do sitewide searches because our analytics show that people who use our search feature spend 5-10X longer on the site. Additionally, being a Q&A forum, it's just a great practice to search before you post, so the same question doesn't end up being …
