For a power workstation, which is better (I'm thinking of doing a RAID 5 configuration). 15K RPM serial-attached SCSI drives, or SATA solid state drives?
How can I increase the quality of content of people who post here, or in any forum, for that matter? It seems that so many people who post in these Internet Marketing forums are just doing so for the signature links, or to promote their own brand, or posting for …
Re: So you want us to list forums and blogs in the same niche as your website but you don't tell us the niche of your website? That's the first thing. The second thing, is please, please, please don't engage in comment and blog spam. It doesn't help you with Google …
Re: Have already begun consulting with various designers about it. Unfortunately, it's beyond the scope of my own design skills.
Re: Both of these issues are related to posts that happened within minutes of each other. There was probably some type of server glitch that stopped the scripts from executing midway through. We'll be switching off of Apache onto Nginx soon, which I hope is going to improve the situation.
Re: Updated to 2014 and set to automatically keep current with the current year.
Random statistic: Newbie members visit more pages per visit and spend longer on the site per session than established community members do.
Re: The articles you're referring to have no related articles. The web interface fakes it and shows featured articles in the same forum. I'll make the API fake it too.
Re: You're welcome, hope you enjoy yourself here. I see you've been a member for awhile now but haven't been very active.
Re: I'll investigate to see if there's an easy way to get post replies to work sans javascript. Off the top of my head, though, it was designed with javascript in mind, so I'm not sure if this is entirely possible. As an alternative, try subscribing to our mailing list (option …

Re: That's because you're spamming. Stop spamming because all it does is make you look bad. Create good quality content and use social media widgets on your articles so that people will want to link to you. Create tools that encourage people to link to you like we do with our …
Every page of DaniWeb has a Javascript error that says: Uncaught SecurityError: Blocked a frame with origin "http://www.daniweb.com" from accessing a frame with origin "https://www.facebook.com". The frame requesting access has a protocol of "http", the frame being accessed has a protocol of "https". Protocols must match. I haven't changed anything …
Re: When you say the cost of SEO, are you talking about hiring an SEO consultant or doing pay-per-click advertising such as with Google AdWords?
Re: I'm sorry. I'm confused what you're asking for. What types of projects? You're looking for clients? Sorry, confused.
Re: Keep it simple. Keep the ID in the URL like we do ;) You can subsequently offer members a "vanity URL" where they can choose a unique username for the URL that links to their profile which doesn't include an ID. If you want people to ever manually type in …
Re: The more backlinks, the better. There can never be enough. It's not just the quantity, though. It's the quality as well. Personally I don't believe that comments via blog comments or forums work. You just have to create really high quality content that all different types of quality sites will …
Re: What's the point? Past SEO success guarantees you nothing today ... yeah, that's pretty much true with *any* business. You need to constantly innovate, stay ahead of the curve, and keep up with the times.
Re: I'm confused by your question. echo nl2br($row->duties); You can't just do that?
Re: I have absolutely no experience with Joomla so I'm not so sure I can be much help, because I'm not familiar with how their templating system works. However, when you say you're not able to get it to work, what exactly do you mean by that? Does it look weird? …
Re: OK, I can confirm that after changing your password, you get logged out on subsequent page loads. I'll check this out over the weekend. (A bit busy today).
Re: I'll try to check this out tomorrow but it might be a few days. I'm moving into my new office tomorrow, and about to head to bed for a big moving day.
Re: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http\:\/\/domain.com\/$1 [R=301,L] Have you tried simply swapping out where the www is?
Re: I'm guessing that the reason you're seeing hyperlinks to broken images instead of the actual images is because their path isn't correct. There's nothing wrong with your PHP file. The problem is most likely an Apache issue related to an .htaccess file or the way Apache (or whichever web server …
Re: Read our Search Engine Optimization forum :) Ideas and suggestions and tips used to help others will help you learn as well.
Re: It means that if Google flags you for being involved in blackhat SEO or doing anything to cheat the system, and you receive a penalty, and then you fix the problem and recover from the penalty, you won't be so lucky the next time around.
Re: What type of reviews do you mean? It's been confirmed that +1'ng a page on Google+ helps. Not sure what kind of reviews you're talking about.
Re: Ryan, do you think you'd be able to resize the screenshot you have posted. It's sorta annoying that I keep having to horizontally scroll everytime I visit this page.
Re: How are you currently hosting your website? Do you have a hosting company? If so, you can setup MX records to point the domain to using your current server to manage your email. Lots of domain registrars also handle email for a few bucks a month. See if your domain …
![]() | Re: That's currently by design only because I haven't yet found a workaround I'm happy with. There have been some situations where I don't want the middle of a word to break if it gets too long, and there have been some other situations where I do. |
Re: > (I just wrote you a long post, JorgeM, and upon submission, it disappeared - This is an ongoing problem/bug here) Yet one I can't reproduce and no one seems to be able to give me any hints as to what is going on when it happens or how long …
Re: I'm not sure that's true, exactly. Google+ actually is constantly adding features and changing things constantly. It's just that, well, Google doesn't know *how* to do social media. So what they're changing isn't necessarily what people want.
Until not very long ago, the More dropdown menu on the Google search results pages offered the ability to filter the results by type: News, Discussions, Blogs, etc. There were quite a handful of choices and they've all existed for years and years. It used to work great for me, …
Re: Yup, I read that article the other day. I think that high quality blogs still serve their purpose, but I have *never* advocated guest blogging as an SEO strategy and I still don't. I think that, more often than not, they just come off as spam or advertorials. I know …

Re: I browse around on Fiverr every so often. I get a kick out of some of the things people have to sell. Wandered around when I was looking to have a logo made but never ended up buying anything from the site as of yet.
Re: IT is *such* a broad topic. Do you have any ideas as to what niche within IT you want to focus on?
Re: It was decided not to do that because many people have laptops with widescreen monitors, and vertical real estate is very important. The static header doesn't show at all if you have a very low resolution. However, for middle of the road folks, I chose to display the least amount … |
