Well, normally a BSOD has white writing splashed all over it saying various things. Normally they often occur when playing games. Due to the RAM and the GFX card being the most important parts for gaming, if they not good enough, your computer shows it in panic via a BSOD.
But seeing as yours just appears after a long amount of time left doing nothing, try putting on a screen saver, might stop the BSOD appearing, because ur computer would be concentrating on the screen saver, thus it won't go into BSOD. Try that, if that fails, come back and i try to help more.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

What anti-virus software are you running?
Also do a system scan to look for any viruses / spyware and make sure that ur anti-virus program deletes them.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

which version of gfx card is it (radeon X1600 for example)?
RAM doesn't seem to be the issue, seeing as you have a lot of it.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

What computer are you currently running?
XP, Linux, Mac, etc
and also what are your specifications, RAM, GFX card etc.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well can we again settle on the fact that if you smoke upwards of a packet of fags a day, u have defiantly messed up your alveoli, by coating them all in a thin layer of tar.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

I like basketball !, really random i know :P

edit: there is this weird kids program on at the moment called "The Sorcerers Apprentice"
there is this 'Sorcerer' that is brilliant at magic, looking for a kid to become his 'apprentice', while they learn magic on the way.
Is this a mock up of "The Apprentice" or what (both US and UK versions)?!?!

maravich12 commented: I do too.(basketball) +2
Serunson 413 Posting Maven

he reped me(which is good) with really random quotes tagged with them...
"Hey, an on-topic post. And you caused some rabies carriers to spaz out, which is good."
What the hell is that about?!?!

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

They didn't replace them!?!?
What on earth is wrong with these people?!
Well if they weren't replaced, it lies totally on the operators conscience, seeing as they look after it; repairs, etc

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

merry

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

What are your computer specifications?
Also what are you running when the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) appears?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

haven't tried it, don't intend to :P

Quad biking?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well, most of my mates burn CD's onto their computers thus they have the silly iTunes format MPEG4 of summit. but the problem arises when you purchase it off the iTunes store. Now iTunes songs are 79p, compared to 81p from the WMP store thing. BUT, when you buy from the iTunes store, they have the protected versions, which you can only get rid of by burning them to disk through a playlist. AND you can only play them through iTunes, AND you can't send them to anyone else so that they can enjoy your favourite song, which is uber rubbish.
That is why i hate iTunes. The heathen System. Currently WMP is beating iTunes, 9 votes to 7.

Incompatible processor means that the processor that you have put in does not work with the current motherboard that you have. In your case, you have upgraded the motherboard, to a version more modern than the processor, so your computer won't run. To fix this, buy a new processor that will run on the motherboard that you now have.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well lets just settle on 1 thing if we can,
Smoking is bad for you.
If anything comes out of this thread, i want it to be that.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

We have the Thames if that helps...

Also airports!
Heathrow, Gatwick, etc.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Ah, still i don't know about it.
She could try to install by not archive installing.
Otherwise take the HDD back to the place of purchase, say it didn't work and get money back or a replacement,
OR
go to a tech place (PC world, any tech centre) and get a professional to look at it.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

How many programs have you installed onto your computer or how much of your HDD are you using up?
A large amount of usage = long wait, but it shouldn't really be that long, how long are we talking, hours, waiting?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well u could use the part of MSN which saves the conversation you last had.
go to main menu => tools => options => messages section => check the box that says "Automatically keep a history of my conversations" also choose a folder for these to go into, there may be a lot of them!

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

i get to face josh nxt, (lol i talking as if i've already beaten bennet :P) i have alreday lost to him as a 1 off game, i think i shall repeat that...

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

You get a dose of radiation :P

I put in a battery

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

archiving for installing??? what on earth?!?
Never heard of an archive install.
That as you said would be the cause of the problem, try to get her to delete where the archiving went, may help.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Thaks for that bennet...
Everyone round my place, that gunna be hard
Lakeside could do it don't you think?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

have you got 2 sticks of RAM? ~ if so then take one out, try if it works, if not that is the bad RAM stick. You will therefore need to buy a new RAM stick. Seing as you have 2Gb of the stuff, i think 1Gb may surfice for the time being

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

My BSOD ucured whgile playing BF2 with a little tiny prog running, which caused my upset. This was a program called "Speedbit Video Accelerator". Just this tiny prgram caused the hatred BSOD. Also RAM normaly comes in pairs, so i would advise gatting another RAM stcik just so the cmoputer is happy. If you are running large programs (like games) the computer goes to BSOD becuase it panics.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well from my knowledge, formatting the HDD just removes everything that is on it. ask her if you can, if the external HDD came with a CD. This probably has the necessary drivers on it for the HDD to run.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

How long have you had this computer?
And a HDD wouldn't suddenly turn rubbish after a few days.
Also what are your computers specs please.

Edit: i see from your signature that your computer looks fairly modern, am i right?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

What amount of RAM do you have, and what is your graphics card.
Also what were you running when the BSOD appears?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

It will eventually get leaked how he achieves these feats. Someone will always get a bit greedy, "here is some cash, tell us how we does that"...

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

113

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Is she sure she has the correct drivers installed onto the computer? Otherwise that HDD ain't gunna work

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

lol, i doubt we will argue over chess!
Thanks for the A-OK anyways sk8
btw i live about 2 miles from Mr. Bennet :P

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

I only use the heathen system (iTunes) for converting tracks to MP3 from other formats. Most of my mates use iTunes thus send me ruddy MPA4 coded tracks for use in iTunes only. Thus i convert them using it so i can play them on WMP 11 and on my MP3 player (which i add is NOT an iPod)

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

lol, Bennet even mentioned me in the newsletter! :)
I am famous at last!! :P

@ josh/sk8 can i play real life chess on a proper board or does it have to be on yahoo, just so it is the same?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

lol, bennet has a problem that is rare!
btw how to you learn about what the HJT logs mean?
I would love to know...

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well putting a blog into 'coffee house' surly means something un-related to technology?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Are you sure that your new processor is compatible with your current motherboard?
If not that is where your problem lies. To fix it, either revert back to your old processor, or find a mother board that complies with you new processor and then buy that. If you choose to buy a new motherboard, you will need to buy all new components for it (RAM, GFX card maybe, fans etc.)

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

mmm, are you sure you are hitting 'shut down' and not 'hibernate' or 'sleep' sometimes different lights come on for those.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

lol, yeah whatever mate :P
see you got ur 'featured poster' title added :)

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

you get a soft toilet experience :P

i put in a university

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

lol i have to play my mate bennet!
:P
he going down, even though i got a cold!

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

because stress of some sort could damage the components inside, if in doubt go to your local PC store and ask the tech people to have a look at it.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

thanks Jocamps :)

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

btw, where do i find this bracket?
I am a, i dread to say it, looser...
At chess, not life or anything!

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Has this laptop been dropped or been made wet in anyway?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well me and Jocamps played, and in a dominating performance i was destroyed!
He defiantly wins against me.

@joshSCh/Sk8
Do the losers play each other, or is it once we are out we are out?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

mmmm, touch question. As long as the computer has good specs, does what you want it to do, and does it quickly, and maybe has a snazzy case, your cool factor will increase dramatically :P

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

It's quite hard to cheat at chess, seeing as both players are watching the table at all times...

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

If the mouse problem persists, take it back to where you purchased it from and ask for a replacement. If you bought online, e-mail their customer services and give them a nice complaint! :P

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Well back to the walking on water thing, you could walk on water as long as you don't break the surface tension of the water.
Like the pond skater insects, they don't break the tension of the water, therefore they don't drown. If he could replicate that with his feet ~ tough to do ~ he could walk on water.
