No Apple Company folk here. Just a note, BEWARE the FAKE SUPPORT SCAMS going on. These folk are out for not only your money but are known to take over your Apple and other accounts.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@D. There are plenty of spammers that have touted their repair tools. Your question is answered already and only you know if your system allows data loss. I haven't read much from you about this or why you or your company decided to go without backups.

That is, if you and the company decided to go without then data loss must have been OK. The only way without loss is backups. Only the very new to this area disagree.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@D. Only you can answer that.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

What's with the need for another user account?

How about GNUPLOT at http://gnuplot.sourceforge.net/demo/

I've run into a few techs (mostly new) that thought the heatsink compound is optional. Or try to get by with what remained. It certainly does sound like a heat issue given the story.

Adding more with edit:
Just last month a machine would start up and shut down within minutes. It was none of the above but a low battery condition. Had to leave it off for 10+ minutes to get more of a charge. One of those duh moments.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This assignment draws on the coursework to date. If you have someone do this work for you, then will you be able to explain the work? Unlikely. Go back over the classwork to date and fill in your missing knowledge.

PS. Read about another student and their woe at https://www.daniweb.com/programming/software-development/threads/516111/help-with-programming-a-java-tictactoe-game
They were in the same position as you but another language/compsci course.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Larry. We all start somewhere. Your code is missing some basic item. You can see it at almost any Hello World chunk of code.
-> http://helloworldcollection.de/#C%C2%A0(ANSI)

The curly braces for main() look to be missing.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@D. I'm unsure about your last reply. It looks like a cut and paste job.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

What part of allow data loss isn't clear is asked at https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/sqlserverstorageengine/2006/06/15/which-part-of-repair_allow_data_loss-isnt-clear/

My thought here is it's not OK at all. Again, this is a lesson on why backup is not optional. Only your newest to this issue will write this is not helpful. It is helpful in teaching the lesson which is "We only lose what we don't backup." There are also those spammers with promises but little else to offer. And then we have the shills and fake responders to what a glorious job these recovery apps did.

-> Only the new and foolish will be taken to the cleaners here.

PS. Forgot to add the following. Of course this is safe to try on a COPY of your database. Your surgeon didn't operate on live patients at first. Use that as your lesson about working on your last copy.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Let's unpack your problem statement at that site.

We have a great product and customers are pouring in; BUT, we can’t handle the scale, outages happen all the time and by the time we manage to release new features, the customer has already lost interest.

First, you didn't have the product if you needed to add features for a customer.
Second, your outages. That's something more basic than DevOPs. It's a failure in your existing system.
Finally, your customer lost interest because they found the product they wanted or decided they didn't need it at all. Good thing you didn't implement this feature!

It appears you are offering up DevOps as the solution to well, basic issues that didn't need DevOps at all.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Have to answer no. There are many spam posts about these apps and all are just SPAM. As to your first question, this is how many learn that backup is not optional.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As to the forum edit. There is a time limit on editing.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This looks like homework as I read https://eapps.austincc.edu/faculty/syllabus.php?id=360891

The answer looks to be purchaseable at Chegg.com if you must but a total button would just do as you suspect.
That is, add values you have so far and place them into a text box.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

To me this would be a wise choice since your GPA could have effects on college choices. Switch to a class you can excel at. Programming isn't for everyone. And sometimes you need time for the brain to ponder the concepts.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@d. If you want to repeat that one liner it goes into a script or batch file. Then there's no command prompt which seems to scare your new computer owners today.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

That may be money well spent.

Out of curiosity I have never heard of a high school charging money to drop a class.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Z. If you think this will be a F, is there an option to take a non-completion rather than affect your average grade?

Programming isn't for everyone or rather, it may take time to take other courses (Math is always good!) to build up your skills to tackle programming.

For example long after I took various programming classes I went back and took some system analysis classes. This was gold to me since it took my rather haphazard approach to solving problems and helped me see the problem at different levels. This is not a skill we are born with. We have to learn, apply, adapt and survive along the way. No one I know started with programming classes alone. They had to develop their math and problem solving skills along the way.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Z. I can imagine. Even I with decades of programming behind me stand amazed at 49 versions of Tic-Tac-Toe. I stand by my answer and still wonder about how you could not find more today about this common application. (you didn't answer my question.)

So my answer is this. Review your class material to this point along with the class prerequisites and you should be ready to tackle this assignment.

Short of folk writing it for you, this is how programming is taught today. You work your way through the class, building knowledge and skills that are tested with the assignments. Sometimes a student never gets it. They have to tell the teacher they are stuck and hopefully get pointers on where to research and what material to go over again.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Why do you have Dubai in your profile but https://www.glassdoor.com/Overview/Working-at-FuGenX-Technologies-EI_IE649534.11,30.htm says otherwise?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Sure. There's plenty of examples ready to go.

I'll look at http://rosettacode.org/wiki/Category:Programming_Tasks and find Tic-Tac-Toe is currently up to 49 languges for TTT.

I really want to know if you tried to find this code if that was your intent. With today's search engines and ready for the taking sites like RosettaCode, I am asking "How could you not find this code?"

As to your assignment, maybe you need to go over what your class has covered so far. The assignments build on what you were taught up to this point.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Just like any conversion you do this line by line. There is rarely a magic app to do your work for you.

But reading http://dirk.eddelbuettel.com/code/rcpp.html it seems there are tutorials and more to speed you on your way.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Ahh, so the real question is how to get pygame on your Apple. That I can't help with as I don't have such a machine. But you could research that on its own.

That is, make your new question about PyGame and Apple.

https://www.google.com/search?q=installing+PyGame+on+Apple+OS tells me you have to install Xcode then a few more steps.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Either start with simpler examples or just see how others did this with a search like https://www.google.com/search?q=pendulum+simulation+in+python

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

The usual is to start with a web order page. Apps require more time and may be specific to the handheld plus you have to get the owner to install them.

Make a web order page and there is no install required and should run on almost any smart device today and for many years.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As a SEO user I take it you already did your research using https://www.google.com/search?q=decline+in+the+number+of+my+webpages+indexed+on+search+console.

So you know the answers on that.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Since this appears to only run in Eclipse I'm going to write no, you won't be doing that.

How about https://support.smartbear.com/alertsite/docs/monitors/web/selenium/create-runnable-jar-from-selenium-script-using-eclipse.html

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This was foretold.

Unless you are leaving the planet.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

PS. OP seems to have found it. They revealed some issue with variabled in their other thread.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

At this point I worry that you are the point of nothing works in php+pdo. That is, I can't guess why the private and such were necessary at this point so my question is there more to this story. Like this is the first time this machine has been setup and tested with this system?

Also, what happens if you used programming examples with as few changes as possible?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

OK, what about line 32. "$this->PDO". Why that instead or just $this?
Example? See my first link.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@kennyL. To see if there are any other clues, let's see your other posts on this. The URLs to your other discussions would be nice to see what others are thinking.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

That line 37. Remember I'm no PHP guru so I'm going to ask why that backslash is there.
Examples I read such as http://www.yudiz.com/mysql-vs-mysqli-vs-pdo/ don't show this.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'm not seeing the cause in the above here. I see why we would want to get into shared code/projects as I read
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/xamarin/cross-platform/app-fundamentals/shared-projects?tabs=vsmac
but if it's creating issues that can't be tamed, why not old fashioned ways?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

So there is more to the error message. If you are missing some .h file you have to add that. Also, the link does make other suggestions. As I noted, the code above does not lead me to any suggestion on its own other than to work on your discussion by adding details and sharing what work you've done.

As it stands, add the missing include and do what the article I linked to above.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Just so we're clear, FTP today is considered insecure. https://www.secure-bytes.com/blog/why-ftp-is-insecure/ and many others note the clear text password that means well, it's time is over. Some companies no longer supply FTP uploads/access to update your web servers.

It's a shame too since it was one of the fastest file transfers back then.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

For FTP, the user has to supply their password again. But isn't FTP considered grossly insecure without going through some SSH tunnel? That is, I recall demo'ing catching the user's password during FTP login over a network. Maybe it's time for FTP to die soon.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I have to ask. I may be misreading this but it looks like you can decrypt the password. If I'm wrong on that the following doesn't apply.

Wasn't the current method to use one way encrption and only store the encrypted value? Then when the user enters their password we encrypt and compare the stored encrypted value. This was at no time do we have access to their password.

That is, if a site can send you your old password, it's security is broken.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This is more advice about posting. Be sure to tag with your version of Visual Studio and reveal if you alread did research. The first hit on Google is https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d7fz9ckx.aspx so I'm going with you know to do such research and try findings like this.

The code above does not lead me to why you have this error. Visual Studio version may differ here.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Line 40 has another issue. I see a single equal sign. Do you know why that matters?

This is beyone what ryantroop is commenting about.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

The link you gave appears to be out of date. I read "these instruction are deprecated" and they supplied another link.

If you feel that author needs to fix their install instruction, be sure to message them today.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Sure. In psuedo code.

If timevalue <= 0 then Timer1.Stop()

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I see you know about Timer1.Stop so why not in your Timer1 handler test for the value to be zero or less then stop the timer and call up your new form?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

There's probable a Reddit for that. -> https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/627zrl/can_you_guys_advice_me_a_good_ebook_reader/

Python has a compiler! You just don't notice it because it runs automatically.

From https://softwareengineering.stackexchange.com/questions/136942/why-doesnt-python-need-a-compiler

While it may be cool to compile it, you then miss out on Python security and performance updates.

Next week I'm resurrecting an old HP d5000t with core 2 quad. I have some new bits for it. New single rail PSU, a 1050 Ti, SSD and we'll see if it lives on as a C2Q.

http://php.net/manual/en/function.uniqid.php notes this fails for your needs. Read hackan's reply to see it returns same value (or string) when called too quickly.

That could create some very hard to trace bugs.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

fgets? That's not the topic from the top. If you want to start another discussion about fgets() problems, do that.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Let me share a recent HIGH system idle CPU process and a non-responding Windows incident. I won't bore you with all the details but what was it? The HDD was getting a lot of read retries and was the cause at the end of the day.

The clue was in the SMART VALUES in a Web Speccy report. How to get that report? Read
https://www.piriform.com/docs/speccy/using-speccy/publishing-a-speccy-profile-to-the-web

If you are not sure how to read this report, just share it here.

In closing, too many owners can't accept the test results. We let them stew till tender.

When crafting wheels my advice is to look at existing wheels. Memory comparison is a stock function so let's see how it's done and be done with minor functions in a jiffy.

Now there are prior discussions about the use of const void so I didn't write a thing about that.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I have to ask why since https://github.com/gcc-mirror/gcc/blob/master/libiberty/memcmp.c has what I think has been the accepted method for decades.
