So that just changes my search to multiple operator precedence calculator in c++ windows source or
https://www.google.com/search?q=multiple+operator+precedence+calculator+in+c%2B%2B+windows+source

The first hit is interesting since it writes "uses the same operator precedence and associativity as the C++ programming language" which has that going for it.

Be aware this is a well done app. https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+c%2B%2B+calculator+source+code finds both source and tutorials.

https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ryzen-linux-10way&num=7 seems to be a recent benchmark of Linux on Ryzen and Threadrippers.

There are (today) three Intel builds at PCMR.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Ahh, gaming taps more than the CPU. My current fav build is kind of a monster. It's the usual i7, 16GB RAM, 1050 or better GPU and no hard disks. SSD has come way down in price so I usually pop in the 512GB SSD. These machines fly.

As to the GPU choice, see what Linux heads are writing about AMD or Nvidia. But if I were to build on a budget I'm back to PCMR builds.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Something else would still have me update the BIOS then setup BIOS and then the OS. This isn't really a new thing but with Ryzens the BIOS can matter. It's a minor bit of work that I always get done before I commit to using it long term (regardless of CPU choice.)

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

About Ryzen builds. Be sure the BIOS is up to date before you commit to the OS install that you are going to run for a long time. That is, update the BIOS per the maker. If that requires some OS installed then my choice to isntall the OS, update and then wipe out and then setup the BIOS to my choices.

My choices are ofter factory BIOS defaults with as few changes as required. This makes it easy if the CMOS battery ever dies. I can't count how many times a builder required the BIOS to be just so for the OS to boot. No need to damn the user years later.

So once the BIOS is up to date and setup, then I can go about my OS setup.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As to socket and chipset. I rarely find any gain in choosign chipsets but as you can guess, the socket, chipset and BIOS must list the CPU you choose.

That is, the motherboard maker will have a page about compatible CPUs for the board we are looking at.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Sure. Here's a google so you can pick which you like best.
https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+10+reset

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I have to go with "I wouldn't do that." If I were to pick only boards with more than the usual 4 or so ports my choices get slim or expensive.

Most folk pick a CPU then the board to support the CPU choice. I don't know the goals but that many drives doesn't mean more CPU power. Nod to "Amdahl tried to quantify the characteristics of a well balanced computer in three “laws”."

In your case you elected to find 8 or more SATA ports so you find those then see where the chips fall.

Have you seen this video about coin mining using dozens of drives?
Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ4ea5NNqcg
Off topic but there are machines for holding dozens of drives today.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

OK, here's the deep dive on how all this works. Keep this link handy as I bet you'll have to go back from time to time.

https://medium.com/@damko/a-simple-humble-but-comprehensive-guide-to-xkb-for-linux-6f1ad5e13450

I'd start small with just one change for the key you want to alter or add, then fix the rest one by one.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

You had me till that many SATA ports. I think you should use some PCIe board for more ports if need be.

About shopping boards, the socket changes with your CPU selection (most of the time)

USB 3 ports so far support all my USB 1.x and 2.x devices.

If I were to build today I would not create a new combination. I'd steal designs from PCMR at https://www.reddit.com/r/PCMasterRace/wiki/builds

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Slow down. Windows 10 has a menu pick where you can factory reset the machine and save yourself from driver hell.

Hi Lewashby, I was pleasantly surprised a while back that I could plug in two keyboards via USB and both worked. Sitll had to select a keyboard layout but hey, progress.

To edit the existing keyboard layout I think we'll have to get into the exact OS in use. But I'm sure folk have written much on editing layouts or creating one from new (which I think would be a pain.)

Maybe you could use some old fashioned idea like a macro for the hard to get to characters?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Is this Mint or Windows? Also, if you want the real deal, go get a French keyboard. It is different.
https://www.amazon.com/French-European-Language-Keyboard-Windows/dp/B0002JP05Y for example shows the AZERTY keyboard.

Doing this with just layouts would be annoying to most French. Look at that keyboard. It has the characters you were asking about.
There are also stickers for those that have a laptop.

There are also a lot of priors about adding and switching layouts. Example: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22384513/how-does-one-add-keyboard-languages-and-switch-between-them-in-linux-mint-16

@divinity02. "Best" is achieved by stating what is best. The above fails one of the criteria of user login systems on a very basic item. Since you are asking for best but didn't detail what best is, I think you have changed your question from your first post to something else.

It's an assignment so for this round you are under the gun to get anything that works. My view is that if this is what is being taught today then you see the genesis of why we see so many data breaches today. Folk are being taught an incorrect system and unlearning is harding than learning.

LESS in reference to CSS is a CSS extension. Some call it a pre-processor.

You may want to correct your question because not everyone may guess you really meant to ask about the other extension SASS.

Also, I don't see any burning reason to pick either pre-processor. You didn't from what I can read from your discussions here.

Let's put on our lab coat. We're going in.

"Any process that has more than a ten thousand handles open at any given point in time is likely either poorly designed or has a handle leak, so a limit of 16 million is essentially infinite..."

Later he reveals we can use 4,096 bytes as to what to estimate for RAM use per handle. So that 910K+ handle usage ate 3,727,360,000 or just under 4GB of RAM. While we do have very nice machines at the office, this is an obvious thing to fix.

Why I posted it is I'm getting a few PCs that don't budge on performance and I'm keeping an eye out for new areas to check.

So video calls? https://www.google.com/search?q=video+conferencing+raspberry+pi seems to note projects that have been kicking around for 4 or more years. My bet is you'll have to tailor such to your exact needs but that's what you as a programmer or one of your team members gets to do.

Don't get me wrong here. Once in a while folk want a ready to use solutuon. Maybe one of these will work but given all the work done so far it doesn't seem to be a stretch to get what you want with little to no programming effort. But there again I am running into non-programming that want such ready to use. For that you add team members with the skills or hire the work out.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@ryantroop. Since I can't get into the driver and app's source code I can only speculate where the issue is.

But since ripping out the old and installing the new did find a thousand fold difference it's clear that the developer was the issue. Microsoft? The fact the OS stood up to all this has me credit MS for no BSOD under this condition. Yup, W10.

I'm going to check this out as I check out more of the office machines.

As to socket connections, so few. No browsers open, etc. Already turned off W10's update sharing.

In parting, this appears to be a thing since forever on Windows.

From Stardock's newsletter I read "Handles are killing your PC" and checked in on the apps and handles to discover the stock Killer Network app was way out there at over 906,000 (906 THOUSAND) handles. This was a pretty interesting find and had me off to the maker for latest suite and drivers.

Result? The 906,000 number dropped to 900 handles or a thousand fold less.

Here's the full text of the message and link.
"Handles are killing your PC

The handle issue is a pretty big deal, and you may never have even heard of them. Let's fix that.

Right now, hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc. Go to the Performance tab. You will see the word "Handles" over on the right. On Windows 10, you should boot with around 60,000 handles used. This is actually pretty bad, but no biggie.

But, many people are starting to run enough programs to get over 100,000. And at around 120,000 handles... bad things start to happen. Your PC will get slow. Graphical elements might not show up. Programs may not launch. Long before you run out of memory, you will likely run out of handles - it's a problem that Microsoft really needs to fix.

So, what can you do?

Click on the "Details" tab. Now, right click on the name column, choose "Select Columns," and then choose "Handles." Now sort the list of processes by handles. Anything using more than 5,000 is not good (unless it's a game). But, keep an eye on …

I think I see why. In program1 line 6 calls out an element "demo" and there is no such element.

Answer? "Bum code does nothing."

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

In this example it's all about order of execution. Line will have to call Multiply() to make the output string and since your function echo'd something then your example shall echo the mulitiple first then your line 14 text is output.

I see no mystery here at all.

Keeping your data is a discussion on its own. For most, using Android's own sync may be enough. But then you dive deeper into they want more than what sync provides. There is no getting away from you revealing what you meant as well as you researching what sync does, then talking about filling in the gaps.

Your second question about installing a new Android OS shows you may have not done research yet. Unlike our PCs which are somewhat all the same, phones use a variety of CPUs and rarely look the same from the OS standpoint. Also, to install Android OS on a phone is often too much for even someone that has installed Linux. Again, you need to do research on not only how Android is installed (really I wouldn't even do this research first) but to find out if any Android newer version ever was made for your phone.

DEEP BREATHS. STAY CALM. OK where do I go to look for a new ROM? XDA Developers and LineageOS.

Started in December 2016, LineageOS now supports 178 smartphone models and claims to have over 1.7 million installs.

Is your phone on the list? Read https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/

I would have checked further but found only HTC in the top post.

I have to write nope. I never saw such a thing. Where did you see this?

The usual is to put code into your app to ask for the product key. If you write apps, you can do this.

PS. Thought of another way. Write your own installer. It would be in whatever language of your choosing but that would ask the questions, check keys and such.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I think before you write such an app, you should complete your web site which is your showcase. This way you get coverage on PCs, Chromebooks, Android, iOS, Apples and even smart TVs.

You won't get that from an app.

While you have a managed switch you don't seem to have an appliance to manage bandwidth per user.

I don't see what you think your options are but will give a nod to implementing a SQUID server for your users. It has many features that I won't get into here or later. But it does seem to be a great solution as not only the bandwidth control but caching to maximize your internet connection.

Need more information? Use the usual search engines and http://www.squid-cache.org/
