Hi everyone, I joined Daniweb YEARS ago and mostly forgot about it (work got super crazy for quite a while). Got more emails lately from the site and decided to come back and try to be active here. What would you like to know about me? Ask away & I'll answer anything I can..... John

I've recently become addicted to the Walking Dead. I was sick in bed Two weeks ago and needed something on Netflix I could binge watch. Now, as we speak, I'm posting here on DaniWeb, trying to come up with some creative stuff to write about, while I watch and try to fall asleep. My reason for starting this thread is because, back in the day, DaniWeb's community grew out of all of the random stuff people posted. The kinda off topic stuff that got us to form a community and really get to know each other. I really think we …

I've been following this whole 'Bloody Dazah' debate for a while, and have largely resisted from commenting as I was struggling to have anything positive to say. However, having now had a long chat with Dani about Dazah and DaniWeb I have to admit that I've changed my mind with regards to negative thoughts about Dazah and the way DaniWeb integrates with it. Indeed, I'd go so far as to say that I think Dazah will be the saviour of DaniWeb and we should support Dani in her efforts to ensure both have a future. Dani could easily have just …

I pulled up Opera and it had its VPN enabled. On the sites I clicked on Daniweb but was logged out so no biggy, log in. Then I went to Dazah.com and the matches felt off. Someone was zero miles away so I googled that company and it wasn't in the state. Hmm, more poking around and Dazah had me somewhere in Germany. Nope that's not right. Aha, I had the VPN enabled. No biggy, just turn that off and close the browser, open it back up and check Dazah again. Still in Germany. Fix: Logout and log back in …

Since am member of this forum am asking my self one question, why am not informed on time when someone reply to my question? For me the biggest engagement is something which is "LIVE" and i think for all of us is. I think this should be considered as "No. 1 to do list" for this forum. **EDIT:** What am saying is, emails are good to inform you when you are off your PC or off site, but live notifications on the website it self are priceless. - Thank you and bye

I think I finally understand why Trump is doing so well (he recently pulled even with Hillary Clinton). It's only after years of shows like American Idol and America's Got Talent that his rise is possible. These shows got Americans used to the idea that they could vote with no actual consequences. In most cases (with very few exceptions), people with minimal talent are voted on and selected as "the winner", then almost immediately return to obscurity. In some cases (remember Sanjaya Malakar) there was an actual campaign to rig the vote so that a thoroughly undeserving candidate would win. …

So almost everyone who's been here for quite some time will relate to this nostalgic feeling like this once was an active populated city and now it's nearly a ghost town, it's somehow depressing for me to see old ruins and abandoned places and things, not sure about you. Anyway, enough drama, so I wanted to give in some suggestions to bring more traffic here and increase our reach, I'm not expert in SEO and stuff so I'll leave that to its people. 1. We can organize a coding contest and market it here and there. Probably writing some good …

I take security and privacy issues seriously, but sometimes I despair when news stories such as that regarding Samsung TVs eavesdropping on private conversation explode across the media as happened last week. The reason for my despondency has less to do with the data privacy debate and more to do with the human stupidity one. That said, let's get the technical bit out of the way first. The privacy scare story kicked off after someone, eventually, noticed that privacy policy relating to Samsung smart TVs included the line: "Please be aware that if your spoken words include personal or other …

These are things I'd like to see available now that should be possible given current technology as opposed to pie-in-the sky things like "I really want a teleporter". For example, I am getting very tired of watching TV shows where the (supposedly) background music is so loud that I can barely make out the dialog. In some cases the BG music is not even music; it is just a loud whining cacophany. The music/whining starts out quiet but gets louder and louder to build dramatic tension. This, I can only presume, is due to either the writers 1. are so …

A recent study done by a think tank hired by Canadian airline companies has come to the conclusion that if the airlines charged less money then people would buy more tickets. I don't want to know how much money and time it took to come to that brilliant conclusion. What disappoints me is that this was reported on today's news with absolutely no comment by the newscaster.

Sorry for the downtime earlier today ... I'm working behind the scenes on merging all of Dazah functionality *into* DaniWeb. This means starting out by getting them both on the exact same infrastructure. Dazah has a lot of security benefits over DaniWeb, so I'm currently working on doing a lot of things to increase DaniWeb's security behind the scenes by incorporating Dazah's anti-bot technology into DaniWeb. DaniWeb, of course, has always been pretty secure ... but Dazah was designed as a login platform, first and foremost.

I have been otherwise occupied for the last 10 years or so - got a job with the IRS (boo, hiss) on a seasonal basis. Got back into making puddles of glass (casting) and bead-making. I started a project I call 'Ramdom act of art' where I walk up to random strangers (hence the name), state the project name and hand them a glass sculpture that I have made. I have been doing this for a few years now but I still have way more glass pieces than a person could consume in a lifetime. I have taken to hiding …

I've been listening to various debates on the potential impact of AI and the two sides seem to boil their arguments down to 1. AI is dangerous because it will mean the extinction of humanity as machines that can improve themselves will do it so rapidly as to quickly make the gulf between humans and AI like the gulf between ants and us. 2. AI is awesome because it will free us from menial jobs leaving us to be infinitely creative. Recently, [Bill Gates](http://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/bill-gates-artificial-intellegence-doesnt-think-ai-taking-everyones-jobs-is-a-bad-thing-2018-1-1014021350) stated that it will be a net positive because we'll all have a lot more free …

eBay is susscessful, no doubt. However, it's customer service and in particular the 'money back guarantee' really sucks. Other ecommerce sites could do well to learn from the tragedy that is eBay and do a better job. I've been an eBay user since 2001, and for the first time needed to claim under the money back guarantee. Item from Ukraine showed as delivered by Royal Mail tracking, but not to me or even to my address. In fact the tracking clearly states it was delivered in a postal district some six miles away from me (in the UK). Suposedly signed …

I want to focus a lot on developing new features for DaniWeb, and getting us back to our former glory. However, a lot of doing that requires the community's investment and involvement in Dazah. Who out here in Internet land has any interest in building a Dazah app? If no, what are the main hesitations? What could I be doing to pique your interest?

Hello. This is Feir and I am working for Nature Easy Soft which focuses on developing project management tool. One of our products, [ZenTao](https://www.zentao.pm), is open source Scrum tool. It is all lifecycle management and has helped ten thousands of users. If you are done with Jira, give it a try. The difference between zentao and other tools is zentao divides the complex project management process into four major items: story, task, bug, and case. And ZenTao supports the whole flow by these four items. Let me know if any questions :)

A cumulative update May-18 released by Microsoft, there are some new features added and I update my W10 in my lap but after updating VS-15 Pro does not load its full features, when I try to run it and for that reason I do not open any solution or create any new solution. Every time when I try to open a solution it always redirect me to read applog file. But in blend the solution opens correctly and runs as my desire. I tried to repair the VS but nothing is happened. After that reinstalling VS it also shows me …

some problem with your computer just sort of fixes itself, and you don't know what was actually wrong or what made the problem go away? Case in point. On my main XP box, I could not get a proper connection to one of the networked printers in my home. Every time I tried to connect to this specific printer hosted on another PC, it came up as a LanManager connection - which works like crap. I delete the printer, try to set it up as a local port (which other printers came us as all by themselves) and Windoze tells …

I will start off by saying that I don’t like to think of myself as lazy, instead I prefer to think that I am much too busy to take the time to complete the more mundane chores around the house like vacuuming and so on. Ok, I’m lazy and vacuuming is boring. Much like any tech-geek, if I see a high-tech way to do something, I tend to gravitate towards that, and when I saw the Neato XV-11 robotic vacuum I knew I had to try it. The XV-11 robotic vacuum cleaner is made by Neato Robotics of Silicon Valley. …

Now will they? I have my doubts. Here in Belgium, we have one of the most dense road maps of the world. Traffics jams, road constructions, pits in the road etc. It's even hard for a human being like me to go from A to B. So how would a piece of machinery do better?
