Re: Geek is chic. A geek is someone well versed in the latest technology with a strong passion and understanding of math and science. A nerd is a socially inept person with thick glasses and a pocket protector. Not all geeks are nerds and not all nerds are geeks.

Re: I, as well, like the idea of giving everyone a free 30 day trial, and if they don't cancel within those first 30 days, their billing cycle automatically starts. The way many "ISPs" (ie AOL) do it! :)
Re: If you have a phpBB forum, check www.phpbbhacks.com If you have a vBulletin forum, check www.vbulletin.org
Re: The animated arrows on their site are cool looking. I would NEVER recommend using a program like theirs - pay per install with ActiveX controls automatically popping up to install crap onto innocent web surfers' machines ... spammy malware is what it is.
Re: Marking this thread solved. Glad you can now enjoy your DVDs :)
Re: Sorry about your Hotmail frustrations. Go ahead and post in the Windows Web Browsers forum at: http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/forum29.html I'm assuming that logging onto Hotmail is a problem with Internet Explorer or Firefox or whatever Windows web browser it is that you're browsing with. In fact, after taking a quick look through …
I keep hearing all of these great things about Chitika - it seems to have taken the webmaster community by storm - but to me, it just looks like another CJ. Does anyone have any experience with it - either positive or negative?
Re: The strength of the DaniWeb design is to downplay the forum index but instead divide the site into multiple subsites, each focusing on a different aspect of IT (The horizontal navigation menu). Each category section page should be considered a sub-homepage of sorts. The forum index is meant to be …
Re: Hey there ... welcome ... yes, we are a bit, well, different now, aren't we? :)
! !, I have a question for ya and you have PMs and emails disabled so I thought maybe I could find you over here ... I saw on SEO Inc's forums that you were at AD:TECH?! :) Did you run into me by any chance and just not tell …

Last night, I ran out and got Tiger at the local Apple Store. I just want to tell you all of my disasterous experience as a "don't let this happen to you." As some of you may know, I have two striped internal 250s, resulting in a half a terabyte …
Re: There is a ten post minimum before you can post in the Site Reviews forum or Webmaster Marketplace or add a forum signature. This is to keep away spammers who register on the site just to promote their own sites and then leave - and have no valuable contribution to …
Re: I made the mistake of not searching before I posted, and I started another thread about Chitika here: [thread]35262[/thread] I found this thread because it was listed as a Similar Thread over there :)
Re: Hmm ... Unfortunately, I don't know. From what I have been reading, you have to run a program called HijackThis ... it will output an HjT log which is what these virus cops want to read :) Just copy and paste the results of it into a new thread in …
Re: Hey Kedar! Welcome to DaniWeb ... I'm glad you're enjoying us so far. We have a couple of .NET forums you'll hopefully find useful ... a .NET framework forum in addition to separate C# and VB.NET forums.
Re: Sorry I had to edit your post ... we don't permit any site specific talk of any kind in these forums. It's nearly impossible to differentiate when someone is posting a question for the sake of self-promotion and when not, so it becomes important to our sanity to have a …

How is the month of November for ad sales for you? From what I remember, it was pretty awesome last year with all of the pre-holidays shopping. December is even better :)

Re: Hey Nitefly! Welcome! Long time lurker in the midst? :) Hopefully we'll give you a warm welcome and you'll become an integral part of our growing community. That's the plan, anyways! LOL
Re: Hmm ... I think something like this would be better suited to our Code Snippets section ... thanky very much for the contribution nonetheless!

Re: When I was in elementary school, I made my own costume ... I was an Apple II computer sitting on a table ... all out of cardboard. My face was a little cutout in the computer monitor. Unfortunately, I was way too advanced for my time, and all of the …

Re: If a thread is interesting, send it to a friend ... click the link that says Email To Friend. When they land at the page, if they register, you count as their referrer. Currently we don't have any prizes set up for big referrers. Maybe in the future.
Re: By the end of the week the site will be section specific. In other words, the yellow and purple will only be on the homepage and non-forum pages. Each category will have its own color scheme.
Re: Yes. I believe the RedHat distribution comes with Apache, in fact. Just make sure to select the package when installing RedHat. If not, download the rpm version of Apache (should be freely available on the web) and use the [inlinecode]rpm -U apache.rpm[/inlinecode] command to install it.

Re: Yup, it's true. If you have Windows set to play a sound when you shut down, it will wait for the entire sound clip to play through before shutting down ... which can sometimes be a pain.
How do you know when it is time to switch to a 2 server setup? Do the load averages start climbing? Should I do a two server load balancing or have a separate database server?
Re: I have DaniWeb business cards which I am not shy about passing out. Additionally, I attend a lot of Internet marketing conventions where I do a lot of face-to-face networking.
Re: Thanks! It's hard to say "welcome to DaniWeb" because you already have 60 posts! Enjoy!
Re: Are you using a custom written blog script or is it something like WordPress, Blogger, etc. If it's a prewritten blog script, most likely the ability to syndicate it via an RSS feed is already a built-in feature. If not, it will need to be written ... in which case … |
