I dont see any evidence of systemsuite8 pro edition running on your computer.

Your log still lists Avast as the active scanner???

You should only install and run one Antivirus program or your computer will experience software script confliction and neither will work effectively.

Dont worry too much about it at this stage and just continue on with the Avast updates!
The infections may have inhibited your new installation

Please follow the instructions given.
According to your new log, none of the given instructions have been followed correctly as you have not done the full clean in safe mode only, nor have you renamed the HJT.exe.

If you cant access normal mode, download all the files needed in safe mode with networking, then reboot to safe mode only to carry out the cleaning procedure!

Go over the instructions again (following them as closely as possible) and post me a NEW log please!

Sounds like a bad disc sector or write error then!

Did you burn the OS onto the disc yourself or is it a genuine XP install disc?

digitalocksmith 52 Posting Whiz in Training

Have you set your bios to boot from the install disc?

THe monitor gets its power from the CPU and comes on

mmm....this is very unlikely, but you probably mean PSU which is also out of the question.

The monitor most probably comes on through its seperate AC power connector but you most likely see a 'no signal' message on the screen?

You probably need to seriously go over your build set up and make sure that everything has been connected correctly with all PSU molex's being where they should be and all expansion cards are seated correctly where they should be including RAM etc.

All mobo connectors (ATX, front power switch etc) are correctly positioned aren't they?

I fear you have left something amiss!

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_To_Build_A_Computer

digitalocksmith 52 Posting Whiz in Training

What exactly happens when you say it wont power up? Do you hear any fans or hard drives spinning up, any beep codes but no monitor signal or just plain old nothing?
No lights, no sounds, nothing?

digitalocksmith 52 Posting Whiz in Training

I agree with jbennet in that its most likely a software issue involving a buggy driver!

The easiest way to determine this and pinpoint the offender is to run the crash dump files through a debugging tool.

Firstly, find the dump files you need - it will either be c:\windows\memory.dmp or mini-dumps under c:\windows\minidump. Find the file you want and copy it somewhere so you can examine it.

Then get the debugging tools - http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/default.mspx
(Make sure you get the x86 32 bit version unless you are running 64 bit windows)

Once the tools are extracted, open a cmd prompt window (start/run/ and type command and hit enter for XP) and go to c:\Program Files\Debugging Tools for Windows and type kd -z c:\mydumpfile.dmp -v -y SRV*c:\websymbols
http://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols.
Wait for it to load and do an analyze.

The debugger will open and if it has not done it already, type analyze -v and see what drivers get listed as possible errors.
Press Q to exit

Yes I now see your dilemma!

The nasties have been sitting on your system32 couch watching TV and helping themselves to your fridge!
Your in bad shape and we need to try and evict these fella's before its too late, lets hope we can bring your system back!

Edit: From what i can tell, these nasties have developed from infected emails that you have opened.
You need to seriously consider your email security procedure and use a virus scanner that includes an email scanning engine. You are using Avast (free edition) yes? Condider upgrading to the Pro version which will include this scanning engine.

As zandiago suggests we will be running spybot at a later stage.

You have some rather nasty infections within your log so i need you to follow the below instructions as closely as possible please!

Also, I cant detect the presence a running Antivirus Scanner which means that you either dont have one installed, or the Malware that you have contracted has disabled it.

After the cleaning process is completed i recommend that you update your browser to IE7 at a minimum or use the latest from firefox. You also need to update your Java runtime enviroment.

Over clocking is not a good idea, especially when you take heating as a factor. better to get a high end processor and adequate cooling. but if you MUSt Overclock stick to the manufacturer rating, better yet stay below by 20 percent.

Try turning off the laptop. remove the battery and all other power sources to it.
Then hold down the start button for around 10 seconds or so.
Replace the power source and reboot.

This is called a hard reset and will help to disable any charge left on the mobo capacitors and clear the memory!

im almost certain i have my system restore turned off for cpu usage purposes...

System Restore is enabled by default on XP, but if you have turned it off then a restore is not an option.
If this is the case i would then save all my application templates that i had created by exporting them to an folder outside the application, then i would uninstall the software app and re-install it.

i do use ccleaner quite frequently and i usually have no problems up until now... i honestly dont think thats the case

I would agree....I have used CCleaner on a daily basis for many years now and i too have never experienced a problem with it!

If you suspect that there are running processes on your system that shouldnt be there, you can post i HiJackThis log file here and i will gladly take a look for you!

Norton/Symantec is notoriously difficult to get rid of!

Even though it may appear uninstalled, it leaves many reminants in the registry and program directory that can cause issues with your new security system.

the presence of uninstalled security software in the Registry can conflict with newly installed security software, and cause system freezes. So can folders of "uninstalled" programs for that matter.

This is what i believe is happening in your situation.
What you need to do is remove any left over Norton/Symantec files and folders from both the registry, the program directory and anywhere else they may lie.

There are some specialist tools which can help you to do this which i will link for you below.

If it causing problems with your system operation then i guess you need to fix it.
If its not bothering you.....well its up to you!

Follow the directions given from the links at the bottom of my post and no harm will come to your system (all data will remain intact)

Be careful with registry cleaners because if you go to hard, you can leave your system inoperable.
For general cleaning of old temp files or reg entries left over from unistalled softs i prefer to use an app called CCleaner (its free).
In all the years of operation it has never caused an issue and works a treat!

This may be an issue, it looks as though you have unintentionlly created another device whilst you have been configuring the hardware during troubleshooting.

USB network adaptors are famously unreliable and perhaps the signal is inadvertantly 'switching' between the 2 device setups which may be causing your signal drop out.

You are correct in saying there should only be one so delete the unused device and see if this helps with the issue.

Let me know how you go!

digitalocksmith 52 Posting Whiz in Training

This sort of error can be caused by a few things including uninstalling software or running a disk or registry cleaner inadvertantly.
Usually you can replace lost .dll files but i cant seem to find this particular one anywhere and i am not familiar with it.

I guess this leaves you with a couple of choices,
(a) You can perform a system restore if you have it activated in windows or,

(b) You can boot from your install disc and perform a repair install of windows.

It may be that if you don't have encryption turned on that someone else is using your router to connect to the internet.
If enough other people can see an unprotected network to use, they may be degrading your access.

You can download a handy little app called Netstumbler and use it to check on your nearby wireless networks and see what channel number they're using.
Most wifi routers default setting is CH11, so I'd change yours to something like 3 or 6 if you suspect this may be the problem.
http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/

There may also be a host of other variables which are contributing to your issue, however i only raise this one for you to check first because running any wireless connection without encryption is a no no!

Ok....some of the newer malware variants are capable of hiding themselves when they see HJT.

You have also not done everything as specified because the dead browser helper object still remains:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

I need you to right click the HiJackThis.exe file and rename it to digitalfix.exe.

Before you proceed, open 'task manager' (ctl+alt+del) and kill these processes if running:

wbyhojgp.exe

mobsync.exe

Begin the cleaning procedure again EXACTLY as stated or it will not work.

Once you have booted into safe mode, you may need to KILL the above processes again from task manager

Make sure that you have ALL browsers and other apps closed including the one you are viewing this post through, before proceeding.

Each host that you connect to the router must have matching settings to those of the router in terms of IP address range, Subnet and Workgroup.

Check that the XP machines settings match those configured at the gateway (router) in terms of the 3area's listed above.

Also make sure that DHCP is enabled on the router.

As the others mention, turn off your firewall when attempting to establish connection to eliminate this as a possibility.

Your network adaptor is working fine as it is able to see the gateway because you have limited connection.

As another possibility you can try reseting the TCP/IP stack back to installation defaults by copying and pasting this into the command prompt:

These are both very reputable AV's with strong variant database's, good detection rates and regular updating which will offer you par like, strong protection.
These days it gets down to very much a personal choice so I would recommend that you test a few out for yourself and see which best suits your needs.

All the latest freeware comparatives are available here: http://www.av-comparatives.org/

Personally, i'm a huge fan of Avast and im currently running v4.8 pro, but im always testing new versions and developments from alternative makes as they arrive!

Good Luck!

digitalocksmith 52 Posting Whiz in Training

Its not recommended even with real time disabled on either.
Although this may help to reduce the chance of your system locking up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time, the real disadvantage may lie in two incompatible products causing system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.

You should only ever need one good AV as in this scenerio, two heads are generally not better than one.

Having said that, there are a few new 'multi-engine' virus scanners now appearing on the market which may be a better option in terms of avoiding program conflict.
