your not gona learn css over night. it will take time and experince to understand what is going on. your best off learning from what other peoples work.

here are some quick links.

http://www.glish.com/css/
http://www.tjkdesign.com/articles/one_html_markup_many_css_layouts.asp
http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp

everthing is working correctly now right?
good luck.

its prolly the power supply.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

im not sure why you want to use it since that is so like 1998. anyway.
win2k:
start > control panel > display > web > new. (make sure you check show web content on my active desktop)
winxp:
click start > control panel > display > desktop > customize desktop > web > new. and your set.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

wait what? so every time you boot your comptuer it shuts off and then tries to restart?

what it sounds like to me is you have a driver problem. I would remove your sound drivers from device manager.
right click on my computer > properties > manager > device manager.

is there anything in there that has a little yellow question mark next to it?

can you check your event log? start > control panel > administrative tools > event viewer. see any errors in there?

could you rephrase your problem in englsih. just state the problem you have and what happens when you turn on your computer.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

change it to this and you wont have a problem.

char strd[] =  {'9', '\0'};
int m=atoi(strd);
BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

yes, I was mainly referring to the font tags, however; some people make it a habbit to lay a site out with tables when they should be using css.

Tables should be used to mark up truly tabular information ("data tables"). Content developers should avoid using them to lay out pages ("layout tables"). Tables for any use also present special problems to users of screen readers (refer to checkpoint 10.3).

http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/#gl-table-markup

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

after you plug it in, what do you see listed in device manager?
do you have network drives?
what version of windows is this?

right click my computer > manage > device manager
do you see anything with a yellow ? or something. can you list the items you see in there?

also move down to disk management (its under storage)

if you have networked drivers, some times windows assigns the new drive a letter that allready exisits as a mapped drive. do you see any active partitions that do not have a drive letter or share a drive letter? if you do you can click change drive letter. select a letter that is not in use.
(this is very common in windows)

you could also try clicking on safely remove hardware and eject it. then plug it back in again and see what happens.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

uh, hyperlinks with values assigned?
eg:

<a href="something.php?rate=1">*</a>
<a href="something.php?rate=2">*</a>
<a href="something.php?rate=3">*</a>
<a href="something.php?rate=4">*</a>
<a href="something.php?rate=5">*</a>

then when the page loads. check the value of rate and do with it what you will.
ie:

$rate = $_GET['rate'];
...
BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

hmm, well I quickly edited the code you had and didn't really look at your HTML. it appears you had <A href="<a href="http://...">....</a>... </a>

you should really be neater with your html. also, font tags and tables are depreciated. you should be using all css. font-family:arial; font-size:medium;

any who, here is what you should have. I straigted it up really quick.

<td height="20" class="stylesheet3" valign="bottom" body><div align="center" ><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">

well, if you have spyware and the like still on the machine you need to remove it before you can enable thse things. spyware and virues target these items and turn them off. most of em watch for changes in the program status and turn them off as you try to turn them backon so that wont work.

you will need th following tools:

I believe what you are describing here is dual monitor display. if add a new card to your motherboard, your computer will use the new card instead of the on board card. windows may show the start up screen on both screen while loading but once it starts up it will drop down to one display. some times windows does not update the other display so it appears to get stuck on starting windows. you can change what card you want to use for primary display. right click on your desktop > click properties > settings > Display (and select the video card you want to be the primary display). *note* you need both cards in to change this settings.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

you have spyware! download hijack this, winpfind, adware, spybot, and use nod32's free trial to clean your system. dl, processesexplorer and rootkit revealer.

could you repeate that again in english? I dont understand what your having a problem with.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

your question is vague. I got this from ms access tho. there is more information there. im not gona list it all. you can get the rest of the information by going to > help > Microsoft MS access help. type in specifications.

results of basic specifications:

Attribute Maximum
Microsoft Access database (.mdb) file size 2 gigabytes. However, because your database can include linked tables in other files, its total size is limited only by available storage capacity.
Number of objects in a database 32,768
Modules (including forms and reports with the HasModule property set to True) 1,000
Number of characters in an object name 64
Number of characters in a password 14
Number of characters in a user name or group name 20
Number of concurrent users 255

uh, you prolly have to install it first. if its installed look for it in the start menu. There are lots of av and anti spware software out there. if you need assistance you gota let us know what you have. if its installed its on the start menu some where. try under "all programs" or "program files"
if you can't find it on the start menu, chances are you dont have any.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

hmm, sounds like your processor may be over heating. what is the tempature of it during hiload? what does your error log say? start > control panel > administrative tools > event viewer.

hmmm, well you dont know if it posted or not because you dont have any signal to the screen. pop the other video card in there and see if it works that way. when you turn on your computer. do you see the floppy light turn on then off?

some things to check:

1:) try another video card.
2:) try another power supply
3:) try another monitor

it is possible the video card died. try that other video card in there and see if it works.

just because the geeksquad tested the power supply doesn't mean its good. some power supplies fail under moderate load. those PSU testers dont do much. the real cheap ones only check to see if there is power coming out of the psu.

when you say no signal. do you not see anything on the screen? or does it say "no signal". what kinda monitor is it? an lcd? it could be possible that it died if you dont see anything on the screen.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

hmm, find your windows xp installation disc, pop it in, and boot from it. select recovery console. and then type in this at the prompt:

bootcfg /rebuild

this should fix your problem if kernel32.dll is corrupt. let me know how it goes.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

I would change the power supply. it may not be putting out the correct voltages.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

problems connecting eh? do you guys both have routers? if so, that's prolly it right there. you will need to port foward 5631. also make sure the little computer screen with a check mark is visible in the system tray on the host.

putty. did you try googling it? btw the primary use for putty is for logging into ssh sessions on *nix and maybe some telnet sessoins on windows.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

was your drives raided to begin with?

if they were and the bios is only detecting 1 out of 2 drives. the other drived died and this is why you can not boot your computer. (assuming your using raid 0). Raid 0 works by writing half the information to one drive and half to the other. Both drives are bound together and act as one drive.

changing it to native mode will just allow you to use each drive seperatly. Since it was raided previously, the computer can not make sence of the jibberish on the drive. so you will need to format and reinstall.

think of raid 0 this way.
you have 2 pages of notebook paper side by side. you are told to write a sentence. every letter you write you alternate on each peice of paper. now take one paper away. you have gobbly gook. put both together and you can read your message again.

example: "hello world"
paper 1:"hlowrd"
paper 2:"el ol"

so in short, if one drive is dead, you lost all your information. you should beable to verify the status of your raid array by opening your raid manager on boot.

btw, what kinda computer is this?

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

if you dont have a header use this method.

Dim cnn As New ADODB.Connection, rs As New ADODB.Recordset
cnn.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\temp;Extended Properties='text;HDR=NO;FMT=Delimited'"
rs.Open "select * from file1.txt", cnn, adOpenStatic, adLockBatchOptimistic
rs.MoveFirst
MsgBox rs.Fields(0) '2nd record
rs.MoveNext
MsgBox rs.Fields(0) '3rd record
rs.Close: cnn.Close
BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

yes, if the drive still works...

you will need this converter.
http://www.datapro.net/products/1920.html

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

well there are a few ways you can go with this. what you are looking to do is throttle bandwidth.

you can a) install a program on all the computers and then apply the rules in the program. (http://www.netlimiter.com)

b) buy a hardware packeteer packetshaper (got 1k to drop just to play games?) http://www.networkcomputing.com/1302/1302sp1.html

c)setup a linux box and use a free one.
http://www.knowplace.org/pages/howtos/traffic_shaping_with_linux.php

anyway, this seems like alot of work just to play a game... why not just play when they are not dling?

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

can you try booting from your windows cd, going into recovery console. (r) and once all logged in. do

bootcfg /rebuild

hit N for editing your boot.ini and N for the other item (dont remmber).

this should solve your problem.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

hmmm, bad mbo? if it was an ide controller the comptuer would deff post.
(computers dont need drives to function)

check your mbo and look for bulging or leaky capacitors.
http://news.com.com/2300-1041-5940552.html (example)

edit: is there alot of dust in the computer? if there is try buying some canned air and spraying it out

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

Powersurge didn't fry your mobo, for it worked afterwards, but it did damage you PSU. That is evident. Maybe the damaged PSU done some damage to Mobo/CPU/Memory but that you will see after replacing the PSU. Advice: more watts - better.

where was there a powersurge? PSU's die all the time... esp the cheap ones. the symptom he stated is common when a psu is failing. replace the PSU and all will be fine.

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

hmmm, maybe those files just got corrupted... could be virus, spyware... or something. find your windows cd... boot from it...
when prompted... hit R for recovery console. load that, and login
once you login and get to the C:\windows or what ever... type in

bootcfg /rebuild

(this will recopy all those missing dll's, exe's or what not)
let that run....at the end it will ask you if you want to modify boot.ini and the like... hit N for what ever pops up. when its complete... take out cd... and reboot. all should work fine!

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

take the fan off... peel back the little lable on the back, and put a few drips of gear oil, or light machine oil in the center. that should do it.

as for the computer locking up... it could be any number of things... overheating, dusty, driver problems....when it locks up... does it throw a BSOD? or any debug info?

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

you could always just erase the password... you need a tool tho its called austrum. its a linux live cd that is bootable. you can download the ISO here. (use a burning program to burn the iso, and boot from the cd)

after you boot from the cd, it will ask how you want to boot the linux version.

enter: nt_pass as a boot option
it will then ask you to find the windows partition.
usally this its the default one, so go ahead press 1

next it should be prompting you for the location of the windows registery. (what it suggest in the brackets is usally right too) go head and try it... just hit enter

from here on out... its pretty straight foward
1 - password reset
1 - edit user data and password
it should then prompt for a user account to edit...
enter the one you wish to change the password for.
* - enter * for blank password
y - save our changes
! - quits the menu system
q - quit the tool
y - writes the data we saved in memory!
now you have a blank password, take the cd out... and restart. You now have no password on the account, just hit enter and your done.

This tool is pretty easy to use, ive used it a several times. if you follow the direction I gave ya, it should take …

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

try a speed test from here...

http://www.dslreports.com/stest

the speed results from downloading all depend on the server too... just because you may have a fast connection doesn't mean they can send that fast.

dial up speeds are around 10 to 12 if your lucky. they usally average around 8

any who, try the speed test a few times... if its coming up short here. there maybe a problem with your line... (use a server with a low load level)

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

either: A) insert your xp cd rom, select repair, select recovery console...

at the prompt, type in chkdsk /f /r

let it scan and complete, then restart and install windows... OR

B) insert xp cd rom, find the partion, enter setup, hit D to delete the prartion
then recreate the partiton... and let if format as NTFS, then install

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

Not too much info on Jetbook out there, but maybe this will help. Get a bootable 3.5" floppy with Windows 98 on it. Boot up with it and format the hard drive(format C:) without the ( ) not startup with CD ROM support, and put in the XP CD. and type setup. This may work, or once formated the XP CD is bootable too.

what? I fail to see how this is going to help, since he can't even really select a partition... and, who wants to install XP on FAT 32. uck! floppy boot disks are depreciated. (note: win XP is the last MS OS that will have a floppy boot disk. and if you want the setup disks, you need to dl them from MS directly)

honestly tho, this sounds like a hardware problem... its either a hard drive problem or memory problem... but with out exact error messages it will be alot harder to troubleshoot...

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

Means you are running it from your desktop. It needs to be in its own folder.

what wrong with running it from your desktop? your desktop is a folder! it just means all the back up files will appear on your desktop... if you dont want them... just delete them... there is no problem with hijackthis running from the desktop. it wil fucntion just fine...

as for the problem... here is a list of stuff you need to do to remove it.

first... close all open windows
then you need to unregister cfgmgr52.dllso you can remove everthing.

start -> run -> cmd.exe
enter in: regsvr32 /u cfgmgr52.dll

then check the following boxes and let HJT do its thing.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cfgmgr52] RunDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll,DllRun

intresting... you can't legaly sell windows with out a key... you should also contact ebay, describe the situation to them... on a furthernote... selling OEM is also illegal (link here for ebay: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/oem.html).
this is ebays policy on OEM's

Sellers may not list "OEM" or "bundled" copies of software on eBay unless they are selling it with computer hardware. OEM software licenses usually prohibit the purchaser from reselling the software without the accompanying computer or without any computer hardware.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

Listing cancellation

Limits on account privileges

Account suspension

Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

Loss of PowerSeller status

unless its coming with a new PC OEM is illegal.

try reporting an unathorized copy... b/c that's basicly what it is...
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/replica-counterfeit.html

if that doesn't work... at the bottom of the OEM page... there is a report problem with a seller button... try that... explain the situation in whole to them, tell them you have allready contact microsoft about it... and see if you can get ebay to force the seller to return your money...

winpfind - Pfind is a program that scans common locations on your hard drive for files that match certain patterns known to be used by malware. It will also provide exports of certain registry keys that are used by various malware.

APM - DiamondCS APM is an advanced process/module viewer and manipulation utility that allows unique control over target processes by becoming a part of them.

Take control of a process by becoming a part of it
Unlike conventional process viewers, DiamondCS APM doesn't control processes by remotely sending them instructions. Instead, APM safely attaches a part of itself to the target process, essentially becoming a part of that process. Once 'inside', APM is free to perform actions on behalf of the target process. For example, if it calls the ExitProcess API call, the target process terminates.

check your bios(F1, DEL at bootup)... there is a settings in there that control what button if any can power on your keyboard. in the bios you can specify a special button, or just use the normal ones. also if you have the keyboard software running (check your system tray) you prolly can specify the actions of the enhanced keys...

to find the drivedrs your going to either A) need to open the computer and examine the hardware, or B) dl this program, burn it to cd... http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php and post back here...

if you dl the program, click the icon that looks like "my computer" (1st one) then scroll down in the context window till you can see network card. either take a Screen shot or type out the information exactly and post it here.

intresting... it could be a few things... have you been able to successfully run windows at all? or is it now dead? does this only happen after its been running for a while? or does it do this off a cold boot, when the system has been off for serveral hrs? run that mem test program. and see what it reports... also, check to make sure your fan on the processor is spinning.... it could be overheating... if it is, will it run stable from bios for a while... (let it sit in bios for a while, and see if its still responsive... do you have a pc health section, if you do, check your processor temp.)

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

how many times did this happen? just once? MS forced a windows update recently... the WMF exploit.... if not, check your error logs...

control panel -> administrative tools -> event viewer -> system logs & applicaton logs... is there anything in there about your computer shutting down?

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

does it detect you hard drive at all? anywhere? as a master or a slave? if not, your problem is there... (either the drive is totaly dead, lose wire, or not connected, or your ide controller is fried).

try going into your bios (try F1, del) and using auto detect for the drive... does something pop up?

BinaryMayhem 2 Unverified User

If you have a boot virus, then yes, a boot virus can survive a re-format, because it may be hiding in the master boot record. With a boot virus, you would have to zero out the drive, fdisk, format, and re-install your operating system. Zero filling a drive puts the drive back into like-new condition, and wipes all info from it. If you have re-formatted your hard drive, then I would guess you have already lost all the data that you would have wanted to save, so a zero fill will do you wonders.

You can download a zero fill program called boot and nuke here: http://dban.sourceforge.net/

You will need a floppy to download to, and boot your computer with it.

um... no... (it can survive a format, but not a reinstall of win2k/ or xp) windows will totaly destroy that mbr every time you install... have you ever installed linux? that's why you always install windows first!!!

also, you can rewrite your mbr with out reinstalling... its called fixboot. you can access that via the recovery console from the win cd.

anyway, do you have any download managers.... this could be causing the file to get corrupted. if not, maybe it was just a bad send, try deleting your cache (tools -> internet options -> delete files) or maybe try dling firefox and then try to redownload it
