I read the link aeinstien posted, it does tell you how to get around the situation: run multiple backup threads. If you don't know how to do that do a search on Microsoft's website under Support/Knowledge Base targeting Windows 2000 and search for "backup" - you'll get 150 replies. If you don't have the patience to scan through the listing try focusing the search with backup wizard and/or backup command line keywords. Asking for assistance is kewl, asking to be spoonfeed is not.

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but if not please provide more info (OS, backup prog etc):

netscape (4.7) has been pretty stable for me - then again i'm the one that still uses win98 on my pc's, so... fetch seems to be pretty popular for macs, havent used it myself tho.

try deleting 'http://www.whatever.com' in the browser's location/address bar in replace it with 'ftp://255.255.255.0' - naturally replacing the ip addy as appropriate. Then user the browser as a Windows Explorer session (i know ur using OSX) where u just drag & drop files as needed, assuming u have the authorizations.

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

ROFLMBO! actually, i'm in COMPLETE agreement! ;D

used to play a game where a miner/s had to get thru maze levels and dodge red robed monks trying to kill him/them. the minier could shot the ground and holes would appear that would close up after a few seconds. it was re-released by Sierra games, but i don't know who the original pub was. Anyone recall what the game was called? :-\

Many of our customers use OE for the simplicity in switching from one ID to another within one PC login - otherwise they would opt for Outlook which is on the vast majority of the syss. Also, OE only locks on a portion ( a good portion, but not a majority) of the systems. That tells me it's not so much a design issue as a glitch. Of course, it could also depend on sys configurations, which we don't have.

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

I've seen a lot of issues lately with OE 6 unable to switch to another ID in WinXP. Three solutions that I know of:

1) 3-finger saluting OE
2) bounce sys
3) deselect default ID setting (and leave setting that way) & do a File/Exit and Logoff, re-open OE & select ID to launch.

Does anyone know of a fix or better solution?

TIA

i didnt vote for TTF simply bcuz of Dani's work - but if their had been a "Neither" selection i wouldve selected it then. at this point, well, it's starting to grow on me, and once i figure out what it is that i really don't like about it, and what i'd really like 2 c that's not here then a post a coupla lines with a heads up.

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

Sorry Tekmaven, I just voted for TTF's setup. I'm still not thrilled with it, but Dani's obviously putting a lot of work into it , so... actually, it was really more of a vote *against* YABB's - just didn't like it. Hey, your a Bud, just talk to Dani and she'll do what she can to integrate your ideas into what she's trying to accomplish.

Better pour some oil on that grind stone or you'll burn off the tip of your nose! ;D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

From what I cant tell you've got a nice back end going then! :D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

Keep up the good work! :)

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

gladdddd to hear that u were able to reload th back-up, but i have to ask - is the new layout due to the back-up, or is it simply a new layout? didnt see any posts aluding to another site redo...

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

APLAUSE!!! APLAUSE!!! APLAUSE!!! nice going Tekmaven! ;D 8)

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

so i take it this is the jump-off post for comments regarding the newest new look? if it is i'd have to say decidedly undecided..... so far i not in love with it, but i'm more than willing to give it time to grow on me.

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

move the links section down towards/at the bottom of the page? might be a moot point as i'm still surfing the new site layout to see where things are. cablevision? whats that agency the replies with a "No Comment" in regards to the most trivial of inquiries - CIA? FBI? NSF? hmmm, regardless i'all neither confirm nor deny your question because i dont think it belongs on a public board (and no, i wont pm u with the answer either! ;)) 8)

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

i like the idea of a separate area for links, it makes it a lot easier for a quick references - of course the flip side is that it takes more time to make a reply post on a topic and then to make a "link" post. is there anyway to automatically catalog links? some time of script to automatically search posts for "http:/" or "www," select and copy to first space to the right & list?

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

ok, either i need another new pair of glasses or you added the links section back in between around 10pm yesterday (07/29/02) and when i made my post - or maybe both! nice to see the links sections in there, but then what did sections did you lobe off? ???

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

AWESOME redo! nicely done - i REALLY like the color combo and that logo is VERY cool (nice job inscissors)!!! 8) hey, and is it just my cable modem, or does the site actually download faster now?! oh, but i did notice that the section (links) that was originally dedicated to me went away! >:( sorry i cant be around more but i definitely had to pop in to send off some well deserved kudos! :)

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

ok, now that i've stomped my feet a bit let me just mmake a coupla comments. in troubleshooting a tcp/ip connection i pinged pc A and logged approx 20% packet loss; the moment i started pinging pc A's immediately preceding csu/dsu type device, pc A's nic packet loss dropped to 0%, and remained that way even afteri stopped the other ping. nobody could ever tell me the why's on that one. situation 2: pc A has approx 30% packet loss @ nic; ping against csu/dsu type device shows approx 25% loss. normally process is to t/s csu/dsu, which can get expensive; on a fluke i decide to rebuild tcp/ip on pc A - packet loss goes to 0% on both devices. out of approx 200 or 300 similar instances rebuilding tcp/ip on client cleared up packet loss issues twice - it should NOT have worked at all since the pc stack has nothing to do with the csu/dsu. sometimes things arent simply just black and white!

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

well at least i'm right about the age old adage thing then.... interesting tho that if you don't know what's causing the problem that you can unequivocally rule out the possibility of a hardware/firmware issue (ok, ok, SO i'm a sore loser!!! ;) )...

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

ok, this definetly does NOT fall within the realm of my expertise, but two things come to mind. one, from what i understand sometimes multiple nics in a box can cause communications probs in that a connection can loose focus on which nic its using - so maybe using different protocols on each nic might help? 2nd, what kind of a hub are u using? a regular (dumb) hub may not be the best solution - a smart hub or switch? I'm really not sure on the hardware end of things, so i'm not sure if i'm making sense or simply making the age old adage true that a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing!

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

LOL! well i've heard it said many times, if you ever want to have an intelligent conversation, talk to yourself! :D glad to see that you get that all cleared up!

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

LOL! didnt catch the date - well, better late than never! ;D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

now that's techs helping techs! VERY kewl 411! ;D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

thats why they dont call pcmcia cards pcmcia cards anymore - theyve been "relabled" as pc cards! ;)

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

LOL! ur right, i dont agree! but thats kewl, if every1 walked the same walk just HOW boring wud this world b?!!!! ;D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

i really really really cant stand microsoft. they dont own enough of the personal computing pie so they make their systems incompatible with a technology that can be implemented on just about any other computing platform, personal or otherwise and then offer up their version of a "fix." some fix. it remains to be seen if i'm going to jump on the Win2K bandwagon, but i'm certainly not jumping on for XP or .net. >:(

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

I only like Macs because I find there's more software for graphics, audio, and music composition.

makes sense, thats pretty much their forte. OS X will throw a curve into the mix tho - gotta see how that shakes out...

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

it used to be - i nver played it online tho i know some of my friends did; i havent played it since MWIII came out - whipped thru that in NO time - and i'm not really a game - it was a HUGE disappoint when i got to the end and that was all there was! >:( i should load MWII on 1 of my pc's just to c how a prog designed for a 60-120MHz/64MB RAM sys would run on a 450/96 - i'm sure there's bound 2b a cupla interesting quirks!!! :D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

what no MechWarrior II?!!! >:(

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

LOL! wasnt COBOL 1 of the hot-tickets according to the url u posted on jobs?! ;)

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

thanks for the google link - just skimmed the article on D - no time for cutting edge stuff right now! :-\

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

now thats an Ultimate post! big thanx 4 that link Inscissor! good read, and even the links from that link were kewl! ;D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

2 Funny! its ok, we're all entitled 2b an idiot from time2time - its just when its a habit that its a bit problematic! hehehe!!! ;D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

it may b bustin out w/411 - and if ur braggin on it i'm sure it actually is *quite* useful, but the site looks really dated - doesnt matter if it was made yesterday, the layout looks old and it is poorly implemented. w/the way the site looks 1 has 2 wonder just how current the underlying info is, and as such, the content becomes suspect. unfortunately it is a lot 2 do w/presentation. jmho.

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

yeah, no doubt - i do think its a great site! :D

aeinstein 79 Team Member - aka kaynine Team Colleague

thanx 4 the link inscissor - not so sure its The Ultimate site, but its definitely an interesting url. :D
