That's quite the undertaking so how many years are you going to put into this? How many years have you put in so far?

I'm seeing folk want to do this but think it can be achieved in some weekend bootcamp. Hint: Nope.

Since a Full Stack developer includes back end, front end and command line work, https://www.google.com/search?q=most+common+backend+for+full+stack&gl=US gives a quick view of your next few or past years of work.

Thanks Grant. I entered in the root and toor username+password and it seems to work.

In your top post you wrote "some trouble" but here it worked so you'll have to detail how to break it.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

So I took the next step and put your 67 lines of code into https://repl.it/languages/python3 and it didn't get past line 1.

As such I can't see what you are seeing and must wait for some valid code.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

These are examples of the bad methods you used to see in school. There are many articles about passwords today so I can't guess if this will be exposed to the world or not.

What I want you to understand is this is OK for a prototype but never to be released or used as a learning tool about user and password systems. Just last week another breach in a Smarthome system where they didn't salt the user and password database.

The Orvibo incident went one step further when it comes to diluting the security value of MD5 hashing: the passwords and reset codes were hashed but not salted. By adding a unique value, or salt, to the end of every password before hashing you produce a different hash value. This additional security layer is vital if you want to protect against a brute force attack that tries every known alphanumeric combination until the password is revealed.

I think that you are seeing the effects of making all those calls repeatedly. I'm going with it's expected behavior and not broken.

But if I wanted speed I'd export or create some csv or txt file then use the following -> https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/8.0/en/load-data.html

Sorry if I don't duplicate what's in the MySQL docs here but the concept is simple.

  1. Create a text or CSV file of the data you need from Excel.
  2. Use the MySQL LOAD DATA featur.

No code yet here but let's hope there is no password in the clear stored in your database. That was taught in classrooms for years (decades?) and has proven to be at the root of a lot of data leaks.

@heyanil673, I use mine for more than streaming movies. But I can't say I've watched a movie on it as that is what the Amazon Fire TV by Toshiba is for.

Here's a thing. This pretty high end machine was 1,200USD. So with machines packed in the 500 to 1,200USD price range (new) I can't write it's overpaying.

As to the VivoBook line I like them as the displays on the ones I've seen would be fantastic for movies and more.

I know folk don't want to pick out a specific model from the ASUS VivoBook F510UA lineup but here's the first one I see at notebookcheck.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-VivoBook-15-Laptop-i5-8250U-GeForce-940MX-FHD-Review.279694.0.html

The outdoors display shot was much better than I expected. Over the years my view on outdoor use is, yah, sure, you betcha.

The neat thing about pseudocode is it has defied hard standards. I can't guess if your class has defined it to be in some format so I'll take pseudocode to be "resembling a simplified programming language, used in program design." Since this is just resemblence and not standardized your attempt at pseudocode will do nicely. It's much like writing a book. You get better the more you do.

If that site is that bad, then maybe you should look at what others have and consider buying one that you like.

Also, disregarding items that wear out like the battery, all the office laptops reach 5 years or until they are dropped, stolen or run over by a forklift.

Here's what I'm using for almost everything today.

  1. Laptop. 17 inch (desktop use) Acer Predator with the usual i7 16GB RAM, 1060 GPU, SSD storage.
  2. Smart Phone. Moto G 5th Gen 32GB model with an additional 128GB memory card.

These are not that pricey and do pretty much everything I ever need.

If one were to hold an open ended W10 discussion, it would never end. While you should ask questions, place each in its own discussion so they can be addressed. If you add a question in the middle or end, folk won't find it and you may never get an answer.

@cambalinho. Sorry but I don't see what Windows Defender has to do with your issues to this point. If you are trying to squeeze in a NEW QUESTION then you should start a NEW DISCUSSION.

Anyhow, what I'm encountering are folk that expected Microsoft to go get drivers for them. And get the settings right. Sorry, no. Microsoft has yet to perfect that aspect of Windows. "Driver Hell" is real. Microsoft has slightly improved since 1995 but barely.

For your laptop, try the laptop maker's web site for the drivers.

That's pretty much text you get right out of the Microsoft and a lot of other SQL documentation about this error. I'm looking at your history of posts and it seems you are just dumping errors in your posts without going into detail how you got to this state of affairs. Since this error has many causes without a story, you are just dumping posts here which I see few are replying to.

Try spending more time to create a better quality question.

I have purchased refurbs on Amazon but they came with a product key sticker so I could complete the activation.

There were some refurbs that used a cracked W10 OS so when you reloaded you might trigger the issue you have now. W10 and all Windows have a license to deal with so in your case you would check your case for the sticker and use that key to activate.

All that said I occasionally run into folk that were ripped off by the refurd seller and even if so, you are not entitled to a free CDKEY.

If you were ripped off, then you talk to the seller.

The first page here has obsproject, youtube and streamlab forums. What I want to hear from the op is they tried those ideas. Unless we are turning into a fish market but my view is the ideas about audio monitoring, settings and drivers are all there. Surely Steven would have tried those so why type all that again? Let's hear what Steve - Tech Support has tried.

My only encounter with this had the user check the Audio Monitoring as noted in the first hit but with folk all over the map on OS, drivers and more, you learn to research and there is rarely a cure that always fits. Sort of how you troubleshoot a Windows BSOD. My friend here does have a solution for that one. It's just like they do at Apple, you replace the machine.

PS. My project is to drive around, geocode a location, add my observations, and then have a map with my addresses and notes.

As a realtor what good is Lat+Long doing us here? All the realtor/realty sites use/display addresses. Maybe the Lat+Long is complicating the project.

I rarely see folk here code for the members. Only discuss, try to sort out an error and redesign. That said, it sounds almost like you want to duplicate Zillow or Redfin which should be a long endeavor as your programming skills improve.

My PS. Don't get stuck on just Google APIs. Use any solution. Such as https://www.google.com/search?q=street+address+to+lat+long&gl=US

Gloak commented: The current task is to store Lat Lng in the database.

That doesn't appear to be what the code at the top does at all. I'd start a new app for my phone that:

  1. Shows me on a map. This alone should take you some time.
  2. Shows a button with maybe "LOG MY CURRENT LOCATION".
  3. That button's code would get the current Lat+Long and write it to a file or database.
  4. Now work out how to get user comments into that record or file for this Lat+Long.

Break down the problem. Don't try to swallow it whole.

The top post omitted so much that it's best forgotten. No tags about the host computer but this looks like a prime use for a smart phone.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Did you use the 7 to 9.5 mm spacer for the new thin SSD? Folk report that without the spacer, the drive didn't connect.

Common finds on this model is this and getting the BIOS current.

lewashby commented: That was exactly the problem. Thanks so much! +4
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Lat and Long do not tell you the address but a point on a map. I've found folk new to this complain that the Lat+Long to address is "always wrong." They need time to think about how this works as they are not inside the address's boundery but usually on the street or sidewalk. Only the human that is doing this can make this decision.

But back to your top post and reply. To me you tossed out a lot of code and maybe, just maybe told what you wanted in your one line PS in the reply. All that code and it's just me saying this, distracts from what you want to do.

-> Don't take this badly, but leaving out comments about what a passage does means that when you wrote it, you and God knows what the intent was. Yes I can read code but I can't know the intent and God doesn't speak often on the matter.

My advice is to break down the problem to steps.

  1. As I travel I want my phone to log a location with my notes.
  2. Later I want to translate these locations to an address.
  3. Then I want a map with ????

Each of those goals should be tackled on their own and broken down into discrete small steps that you can code up. As to you not being a programmer, now you are.

Gloak commented: http://aaa.properties/warriors/createTest.php And I need to populate lat and lng. +2

All makers did this years ago when machines were even older. Unless you have a PC close to 20 years old, I don't use those pins.

PS. Later I see we installed a WD Blue 1TB into an office laptop last week. The laptop was a HP EliteBook 745-G2 14" Notebook, AMD A10 Pro-7350B 2.1GHz Quad-Core, 500GB SATA HDD, 8GB DDR3, 802.11n, Bluetooth, Win10Home. I like Agile, I really do but a few times it has me walk out on the process as a few think that everyone must "buy in." That's just part of the problems I've run into and kind of glad I'm no longer on such teams. In fact if a company does go "all in" on Agile I may want to short their stock. I think it works until they try to forget what the real goals are.

The real goal is to get the product out the door. Some folk love to get wrapped up in the process. The process to them is all that matters. Someone made a funny albeit dark meme about it.

I'm going to have to disagree. I've been on projects where the client's requirements were met, the app did exactly what the client asked for and the project targets were not met.

There are plenty of examples like this in the game market where the game does exactly what the client wanted yet the sales and user base targets never were met.

The client was at fault entirely, not "your developers just aren’t good enough."

Thanks JamesCherrill.

My comment is to think defensively when coding as above. I think the code will fail with null strings so some check would be needed to avoid that in some cases.

That is, I've seen apps run for years and then one day blow up because a check was left out for the out of bounds condition.

So it's Windows 7 and "Ultimate." Good to know when discussing such things as it matters.

You know that the fan is fine but you don't know if the sensors and PWM control system is fine or not. Since it looks like the OS is not stock you should at the very least install the drivers for this PC from its maker. I find folk ignore that all too often.

From https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/3279;-;Aspire+5742Z at least the Chipset Driver which is where the fan control should live.

If that fails then you can try fan control software and see if you can set the speed manually. There are many for Windows 7 so I will not pick for you. If this fails then it is hardware and the hardwire method could avoid replacing the motherboard.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Sorry but if the IDE is broken I'd research that. I'm sure there are tutorials about Eclipse and such so I'll share the old fashioned debug ways instead.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Time to debug your code. I don't see it but if this was mine then in Pig_Laten Translator Code just before line 9 I'd add

System.out.print(count); // just to be sure what this is.
System.out.print(word[count].length()) //could it be a null length?
System.out.print(word[count]); // to see what this is.

For those very new to this area, please google SIM SWAP and discover a very nasty security issue with all phones we use today. At first glance the new security researcher might think I'm exaggerating. Do your own research and tell me you don't find this to be one of the most foul, nasty exploits I've seen in years.

This exploit was recently used to highjack a writer's phone at https://www.zdnet.com/article/sim-swap-horror-story-ive-lost-decades-of-data-and-google-wont-lift-a-finger/
His case is still developing with loss of accounts, tax returns he stored on the Clouds, and a 25,000USD Bitcoin purchase.

And we're not talking thousands of dollars in losses but millions. Take for instance an over 23 million USD dollar loss at https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/pawwkz/bitcoin-investor-sues-att-23-million-sim-swap-hack

The current state of affairs appears to be DENIAL by the carriers that this is a problem. You can do your research and if you are like most I've talked to about this, it will shake your faith in all things smart phone and cloud based. So many are using their phone as their wallet and for now, until there are lawsuits that cost the makers of this disaster lose a few billion they won't see a reason to fix it.

Once in a while a poor soul has a failed motherboard. It's not drivers or settings as they have already reloaded OSes and drivers. There's a last hurrah hardware fix which is to rewire the fan to a power source. I usually pick up some USB +5V (avoid fast charge USB ports which can crank up the voltage) and the fan will then run as a mid range speed every unchanging. If that's not speedy enough you pick up some switched voltage in the power control area (too advanced for most techs and there is no documentation for this so your electronics background is called into play.)

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

If it's hardware then software won't fix it. Try fan control software. As no OS noted I'll supply a link to how you control it in Linux.

This just in. Zillow is making inroads to change in the real estate market with their ibuyer program.

The RE industry strikes back (cue The Imperial March or Darth Vader's Theme) with counterclaims that you don't get as much for your home. It's easy to see it did cut out one side of the real estate marketplace but it does look like a way to offload some of the usual headaches of selling your home. That is, you can opt for your home to be sold as-is and the ibuyer system does the repairs and you get a price and you are done without entertaining offers, counter offers and more.

I ran into a few that are trying to compress the W10 ISO onto DVD and they ended up burning up a box of DVD media. I pulled out my old USB DVDRW, slipped in a blank DVD DL (recordable) and used the Microsoft Media Creation Kit to make one DL DVD. Then I used IMGBURN to create the next disc.

For reasons I can't fathom they wanted me to fix their CD/DVD burning software. Which is something I can't address since almost all of these are not open source so we can't fix them.

If you did want to do a clean install of W10 I'd start with a blank no-partition HDD or SSD and only boot to the new W10 install USB. If you have external USB drives or more drives then I've seen the W10 cough up a can't install message. But so far with a plain PC say with a single blank HDD/SSD and my bootable (even the latest) it just works fine.

Now there are instances where another issue pops up with outdated BIOS but that's something you fix before you start.

PS. Adding with edit. Always unplug USB devices and extra drives unless you want to experience why I write this.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

For me I look up that information for my DVDRW drive. As to software I found such to be unreliable at times so I check my hardware (the drive) capability by checking it's specifications (again, done by reading the spec sheet and not with software.)

I also use IMGBURN to make such media.

HOWEVER SINCE YOU MENTION Windows 10 ISO, why didn't you let the Microsoft Media Creation Kit create this disc? I run into folk that download the ISO and then they descend into hell over trying to make the bootable USB or DVD. Very odd since later they meet with me, I run up the media creation kit and it's done. And yes, they want me to fix their Nero or whatever which is something I never do. I like to make the media the easy way or with IMGBURN then move on. Some owners get fixated with Nero and get burned.

API First and called by other names are an attempt to prevent lock in to a particular developer. Blockchain for the database is one of the key tools to break free of the vendor.

For example a company I work with has a tracking system and it's data lives in the usual SQL type system. Since the company has the services under their roof in every way, those that use this can't walk to another developer or house so easily. Blockchain for the data is one of the ideas to break that lock.

The Real Estate industry is FIGHTING CHANGE. At least in the USA. https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/15/economy/real-estate-commissions/index.html is a recent read on this. I did speak to a few RE folk and the battlelines are drawn so MK's view of the future remains to be just that.

Real Estate transactions are steeped in legal code that changes from US state to state. I don't know how much we need to cover here but MK really would do well to point out the lawsuits and how state laws would have to change. This is not going to happen overnight but MK and others are pinned to the sidelines until someone slays the current industry.

Redfin tried to refund some of the usual 6% but (see article) the beast rose up and beat them back into place.

There's so much more to be written here but blockchain isn't going to solve this one. For now it's courts and our legislation that needs to make the change happne.

Michael Kelley has some association with fueled.com which could explain a lot. This does not read like a blog or op-ed. It does read like their other pieces which appear to be fishing for fueled.com. If MK had been more forthcoming I may have not written a word. Instead I did a google and found a prior piece which was interesting to compare.

What would be very interesting is to see an article about API First systems.
