Well how can you be sure that SpeedFan caused that? I've said it was working well, even after I changed the fan speeds, till I turned on the machine next day.

hmmm...

Before the day that this happened, I used a program called SpeenFan on Windows 7. I changed the fan speed. I don't know what I did.....

then you stop using the card, so you know that the card is the problem.

It sounds likely, at least. Besides, just looking at one of those (see thumbnail below), those fans look like they are rather important Don't you think? Messing with them using 3rd party software is not particularly recommended, and usually voids the warranty (I wonder why - oh, because they break).

I admit, stating that SpeedFan WAS the cause may be a little presumptious of me...

If you can tell us what the actual cause was, then please enlighten us, for the benefit of others who have this issue - otherwise this thread serves as a good warning to others about some of the dangers of playing with 3rd party tweaking tools...

whether it was the cause or otherwise.

Really? Would we even 'see' it if it happened in our living rooms?

I always thought the opp of BB was the Big Crunch, although I'm more akin to believe in Heat Death. Thermodynamics is a bitch.

hmmm. I cannot remember much about heat death, but I believe it has something to do with one of the ways that the BB theory is impossible? the maths behind the likelyhood of life is so small that it is deemed impossible. let alone the maths behind evolution.

I think a government has much more other things to do than that. But sometimes politicians have nothing else to do to make themselves interesting. I think we are talking about 2 different wars - I was talking about B.O'R.'s war on xmas

Sorry if I am mistaken, but it seems to me that Bill O'Rielly is actually quite neutral in his views in that segment. possibly even slightly xmas-pro rather than con.

He is stating that the Liberalist parties are trying to hush down all aspects of religion in general - Xmas being a highly visible one - because if no one is listening to the 'christians'/other conservative religions, then passing laws that allow things like drug use, abortion, etc will be easier.

I am in New Zealand, So I am not hugely familiar with America's political system. Or Bill O'Rielly. But isn't that what he is saying?

Thanks. I'll try that. I have a USB mouse which I got when i bought the PC . (It's an ACER)

Ok, so just update the native Windows mouse drivers through Windows update then. And your USB ones, too. You don't have anything special that requires separate or 3rd party stuff.

Have you checkd the physical mouse cable, might have a bend, or an internal break in that causing a problem, too.

hotmatrixx 21 Posting Whiz

yeah, could be the mouse driver, or the usb hub driver. which you can update through windows update, here:

I never understood the 'war on xmas' stuff - how is "Happy Holidays" an evil thing? Christmas is Dec. 25th - that is the day to wish someone a Merry Christmas. Do you wish someone 'happy Thanksgiving for weeks before the day? The winter solstice is such a good time for a holiday that almost all religions have a 'special' day during that time of the year. Rather than try to remember all those different holidays, it seems to me that Happy Holidays works pretty well.

hey, man. the war on xmas has little to do with the date. It is about forcing everyone else to celebrate a certain way (trees+lights+furry red fat guy) when not everyone wants to be bombarded with that way of thinking.

Hey, there are a lot of 'Christians' that don't celebrate xmas, because they believe it is based on incorrect and/or corrupt assumptions. (like biblically the date of Jesus birth is not dec25, for eg).

You don't see the Jews pushing Hanakah in everyone's faces, they just go about it quietly. you know it is there, but it isn't shoved down your throat.

Besides, the only peple that push xmas are commercially oriented anyway - big business. xmas is big $$. New zealand (4 million people) spent 2.6 billion$ on dec 24 alone, with 134 transactions per second (eftpos only, not including cash, credit etc). most of those shoppers look stressed, not happy.

So the war on xmas is really a …

3. your agp/pci slot is on the way out.
4. you have a faulty vga cable.
5. funnily enough, I have also seen that black screening happen on a PC that had nowhere near enough RAM, too. But I cannot see how that could be an issue. however, more RAM did solve the problem.

I have one of those syncmasters too. it is a no go, but I get a different error - it says 'out of range' when I know that it is not. could be an issue with that series of monitor, maybe.

You Know, I just checked something...

your HJT log shows:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
but guess what?
it should be:
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe

Yes, uppercase matters.
Maybe something has overwritten/hijacked your internet explorer program?

if so, when uninstalling the above, make the additional steps of deleting everything from the
\program files
\documents and settings\application data\internet explorer
\documents and settings\application data\microsoft\internet explorer
\documents and settings\local settings\application data\internet explorer
\documents and settings\local settings\application data\microsoft\internet explorer

folders.
be careful only to delete internet explorer stuff.

or try Revo Uninstaller (freeware, google it) on advanced mode and select and delete everything. You will need to use this program instead of add/remove programs or it will not be able to help you.

grab some of the keywords on that website, if you can. Preferrably the ones before it redirects.

search for them in firefox.
you do this by typing in the address bar:

worth a try before you reformat the thing, anyway.

Remmber to back it up befor you format it please

hotmatrixx 21 Posting Whiz

ummm

I am not really the one for HJT logs. I had a quick look and didn't see anything, but I am not the one to ask.

Two things I can think of:

1.
check this setting: in windows explorer (open my computer and the menubar across the top will have "file edit view tools help")

tools-folder options
'view' tab -

check to see if 'restore my windows at startup...' (or whatever it is) is enabled.

if that does not work....

2.

BACK UP your bookmarks and custom settings, etc in ie8
uninstall ie8
run this program:
(microsoft uninstall cleanup utility from microsoft support)
http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe

(you need to install it, then go and find it, I cannot remember where it goes in XP, but it is in the "start-all programs" list)
see if it can find ie8 and delete it. if not then fine,

reboot.

reinstall ie8

or better yet, switch to firefox!!!

probably a bit of a hack/slash solution, not the most elegant, but hopefully it will fix you. there is something corrupt somewhere...

the latest version of FDM has the plugin for all those browsers.

grab it, install it, then go:

then in the tree on the left,
downloads-monitoring

and select the browsers that you want, and any other settings. If you know how to use a download manager, you probably understand them, so I will not explain them here (unless you want me to? happy to help if you need it!!)

After all that, your browsers need to install the plugins - and then you will need to shut them down and restart them. this step should be pretty automatic. Google still has issues with this from time to time though. I have stopped using it as it keeps crashing on me in different ways...

People who dont believe disagree with each other too! Thats what makes us individuals! the information is downloaded from different sources in each one of us, it's a qerky little bunch of query's called personality!

As for ghost's being demons, well no one can say from one supernatural experience to the next exactly who or what they can be attributed to every single time!

There are many strange things out there in creation no one creature knows all the answers!

hotmatrixx 21 Posting Whiz

I know. there are many reasons for it though. what better way to mislead them than to use Gods' own word to misdirect? I am not saying I am right, i don't need the fight. All i can say is that a lot of pain can be caused if we are wrong... for example. Jesus said that the true religion could be found by the love they have amonst themselves. As an obvious example, look at WW2. Hitler used the clergy to summon the people, this is common knowledge. But so did Chuchill!! So when the preists blessed the bombs, the guns, and the men on either side - which side was God on? look at our national anthems... (god defend us) as a country. against what? another country? Jesus never said that Christianity had borders! so if your religion is willing to go to war, then it is the same with your 'enemy' who is also your spiritual brother. yet you fight each other? (This is generic and is pointed at no one person or group. it is merely the easiest 'verbal 'tense'' in which to write)

Ghosts are actually caused by me killing people faster than Death can process them.

Terry Pratchett, "Discworld".

Nice application though.

It gets worse.

Ghosts are Demons in disguise. And demons don't play by rules, they make them up as they go. That is why it is so hard to figure out what "Ghosts" are. Because they 'change'. It explains how they can be immaterial and still interact with the material univers at the same time, BTW

Seroiusly.

A Demon is, by definition, a Fallen Angel - an angel of God that CHOSE of his own free will to rebell against his Creator.

They cannot redeem themselves now, are lined up for destruction (Armageddon - a good time to look forward to, when evil is removed and good is left over) so they go making as much trouble as they want... for their fun of it.

They result in confusing the unknowing, and them drawing away from God, Which is what the original Slander was - that man would not put faith in God when under test.

Belive it or not, it explains a lot, huh?
I can prove this by references if you wish, but can't be bothered getting into a bible-bashing fight with those who disagree. please take it or leave it, but don't hijack this thread and make it about whether God exists or whether the what the Bible says is truth. This forum is about Ghosts, …

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. http://network-tools.com/ is hosted offshore, therefore it can find it. your dos/cmd is from your pc inside your country, therefore is filtered. that is my suggestion, anyway

hotmatrixx 21 Posting Whiz

who is hosting it? - if you want my help, you will need to answer this one, sorry. The reason is:::

if the virtual server is also suporting certain types of websites, it could be getting mixed up by the countries' channel... yes you are an Italian, right? and your server is offshore? I think that italy, and costa has automatic filtering at the entry points for the net in that country, so everything is monitored and filtered at the border. if your sites are associated at all with blocked sites or content, it could be the auto-filters stopping you. that would explain why you can't see it but others can. if you want to fix this you need to change the law, or get a different server. even america has these filters inplace for some strange stuff, like try googling "conspiracy keywords" - these are words that their servers look for and if you have them, be sure that uncle sam is watching. hope that helps.

you have the cd? DO THIS:

boot from the cd
hit install windows
(dont touch recovery console)
agree (f8)
select your harddrive with windows on it
your cd will find your current version of windows
hit repair. wait an hour. or two.

i suggest a back up first. and set a restore point. this will fix any corrupt WINDOWS files WITHOUT deleting or overwriting any of your crap. it even leaves the registry intact except for critical stuff. so you will have windows again. that is the easy fix. really really.

in fact, before you do that do this

in windows
start-my computer
right click your windows HDD
select properties
select the tools tab
select check for errors
tick both boxes
ok
schedule on restart
ok
ok
then restart your pc. chkdsk should kick in for an hour or so. if not, do it again coz sometimes it does the funky monkey i dont know why.

then look for H+S

that might fix it. if not then run the repair as above.
