Not only that, but the nature of your messenger messages says that you have been infected with spyware and/or adware. I strongly recommend running Spybot S&D and AdAware
thanx uberaaz,tht was a gr88 help indeed.
i want to know which programmes should be stopped from being running at the back of the system.like svchost.exe,explorer.exe...........etc
sometimes explorer.exe consumes whole CPU usage (100%) when there is not even a single programme running on PC.
Both svchost and explorer.exe are critical system processes. DO NOT terminate these.svchost is used for launching various system services for windows. End that and you may end up doing an unplanned reboot or compromising your system.
Explorer.exe is your Windows Shell...the start menu, desktop et al. Disable it and you won't be able to do much.

Hi
I've created a password protected Music Database. What I now need is, whenever a member logs in, the time and date of his login should be noted. I only need to record the last time he was logged in. Something like "You last logged in on 21st July, 2005 at 03:30." How do I go about it?
Also, I would like a counter to keep track of how many times in all the user has logged in. I'm guessing that this can be done by adding an Update query which will increment a counter field each time the user logs on. Is this the best way, or am I missing something here?
Thanks.
im gonna go and see alice cooper in london in november.
Cool. Have fun...
Update to my list:

It's just reflective of how many posts you have.
Okay. So how does the star system work? In my case, I've got 212 posts. So I get no stars? Could you point me to where I could find out the details?
Okay, there are now WAY too many marketing threads here. Is that allowed? Moderators & Administrators, please note.
It works like this: People get mad at posts, so they give you negative reputation. I kind of like that though. I'm getting close to having a red bar.
Okay. What's the single star under your ID?
hey tgreer and zippee..
You're right. I was so hung up on those two methods, I just forgot about the response.redirect method.
Thanks a lot, you guys.

Plain Windows XP desktop. WAAAAAAAAAH....please don't hate me. I'm trying to be a non micro$haft guy.
Update: I've migrated to Linux...for the time being atleast
e.g last night my bosses dell desktop caught fire... literally and it wasnt salvageable. i was there when it happened. all that was left was a mass of molten materials. :cheesy:
I guess he had a 'hot' configuration...
My system's offline during the night ~03:00 to 10:00 AM. From 10:00 to 17:00, my system's on, but I'm at college. From 17:00 to 03:00, I'm using the system actively...
Good for you. I'm glad you got that out of your system.
OK, one more quick DDR comment- I have size 13 feet, and the arcade machines have buttons that are recessed in metal. MY FREAKIN' FEET DONT FIT! Has anyone else had the problem, or does my tippy toe accuracy just suck?

Like the subject says, what are Reputation Points? And how exactly does this system work?
You really can't do an install of your OS with a bad CD Rom. You need to replace the device. Ofcourse, if you could copy the Windows setup files from the network, you could run setup.
Since you can ping yahoo, I'm guessing you have some sort of infection. Open up the file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts. Paste the contents of the file over here. We'll proceed from there.
Umm...so what was your problem again?
Hey chris.
Try reinstalling your browser
Hey Della. Welcome aboard.

into the matrix-->Gone with the Wind
All righty then. Thanks.
wow gold... you really ARE a tech geek... not that we don't love you. i'd have noone to go to when i 'REALLY' screw my rig up if you weren't here... not like i can go to tech support or anything...
You're welcome anytime.
I'm not sure of the exact steps, but I can recommend Symantec Ghost for the purpose. You just need to install Windows, all drivers and install all apps on a source machine and then 'clone' the hard drive. Then, you can just install this image onto every computer you want to. This method is significantly quicker than a standard Windows install.
Are there any other ways of uniquely identifying an installation of Windows? Possibly identifiers that would change from installation to installation even using the same Windows XP CD?
The only thing that would provide you with a different ID is a different key. All copies of, say, Windows XP Pro SP2 have exactly the same files(file names, file versions etc). The only thing that sets them apart is the installation ID, which is generated using the CD Key used to install Windows. Hence, you could install Windows on 2 machines with the same key, they would have the same installation ID.
To clarify, is there a method of uniquely identifying a computer that would no longer work after Windows was reinstalled?
Why wouldnt a computer work after reinstalling Windows?
Dani's Beautiful?
Yes.
Guess people are just too lazy to disable JavaScript.
Anyway, you're saying I ought to stick with the HTTP Refresh?
Im working on a college project. In this, the user is required to authenticate. The login page (login.asp) has the form and the corresponding ASP code. Once the user is successfully authenticated, the user is redirected to the main page(mediaguidehome.asp). Currently, on authentication, I'm using the following code to redirect the visitor:
<% asp code here %>
<SCRIPT Language="JavaScript">
location.href="/mediaguidehome.asp?user=<%=Request.Form("username")%>&pass=<%=Request.Form("password")%>"
</SCRIPT>
What I want to ask is this. Is it better to use The location.href JavaScript or do I use the HTTP Refresh statement (<META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="0; URL=/mediaguidehome.asp?user=<%=Request.Form("username")%>&pass=<%=Request.Form("password")%>">
).
Please advise. Thanks.
DaniweB.
Thought it was pretty obvious.
Sigh. Ever the literalist, aren't you? ;)
Ah, technicalities. You just can't live without them.
You sure the cd rom lens isnt dirty?
No comments about the hard drive
Maybe your homework could be your blog...
No for the moderator post? NO? waaah. I wanna be a mod. I wanna i wanna i wanna. aaaahhh
Pages seem to be loading properly. I've got a 128 kbps LAN connection here.
Does the device show up in My Computer? Probably as a Removable Drive or something? If it does, you could just drag and drop your songs into it.
For every 'exclamation mark'ed item, let windows scan the driver CD for the correct drivers.
Is the VGA port on the back horizontal or vertical? If its vertical, you need to get your mobo checked as its got an onboard VGA. If thats the case, try getting another VGA card and check, if its horizontal, the VGA card could be bad. Again, get another VGA card to check. Also, check the monitor on another computer.
This could point to a faulty motherboard. Check all connections first, try resetting the CMOS to defaults. Make sure the RAM modules are seated properly and are clean. You can use a regular eraser to clean the RAM's contact pins.
Did you install the cpu properly? Is the heatsink clamped properly? Did you remove the tape from the base of the heatsink before installing it?
Just a few suggestions.
Just ensure you get another PC 3200 RAM. And while you're at it, don't get additional 256 mb, get minimum 512 mb additional.
I think she's a perfect 10. Dani and the web, that is ;)
Hi
I am from India. While surfing I came to see this community. It seems to be a great place.Hope to be here for long.
Hey nameeta. Welcome aboard DaniWeb.
I've thought about this, and asked others, but I really am not so sure how much to appraise the site for. It would be at minimum in the neighborhood of a half million dollars I estimate.
Puh-leeez do NOT sell this site. Once sold, you can be sure this site will stop being the intuitive, fun place it is  and become another one of those "Hello, please hold the line while we answer your question" kind of duulllllll places. :?:
Oh woe. Why can't I live somewhere closer to NYC? Ah well, all the best for the party, and have my share of the food too.
I concur.
What are you trying to make a DVD of?
I think he wants to make an audio DVD. Ever heard of that?
