i would stick with the free one you got. i have heard that if you start off with visual C++ you will get spoiled and not actually learn everything you need in C++. i am currently trying to learn C++ and im using gcc but im on linux as well. if i was using windows i would probably go with the Dev-C++ that you are using. but thats jst my 2cents :cheesy:

i was at work alday got home from work and i was asked if i had heard bout the outage on the east coast and was like what the hell. and then watched some new to find out if it was a terrist thing found it it wasnt. and decided our powergrids suck if they cant handle 2 days of 90 degree weather. *looks around and hopes it doesnt happen in ND where tomorrow will be the 3 day of 90 degree temps :eek: * but thank god they got the power back in half a day and not like 5 days. like back in 97 here in north dakota in the middle of winter :evil:

edit: i guess i should tell everyone why im trying to figure this out. i need to know cause i have been given a project at work to see if i can do with visual basic and the project invovles finding out the area of spaces like this so that they can do other info with the info. there is a program out there that can do this so i figure some how some way i must beable to do it. but the program they have found to do this will cost the company $50,000.00 :eek: and they dont want to pay that. but hopefully i will figure it out

yeah P4's are better but you have to pay so much more to get them AMD is has a better bang for your buck. but thats my 2 cents.

i think you should go with winXP Home instead of anything else. but you could go with win2K because it is more or less winXP minus a few newer features.

ok you said your not very good with computer so how much computer knowledge are we talking here? i need to know cause if your not a computer geek i need to make sure i dont use words that will confuse you. and another thing you do no that uninstalling windows ME means you wont have an Operating System (OS) on there anymore and you wont be able to do anything with the computer untill you reinstall a new OS, like windows XP or reinstall Windows ME. but you jst let us know that and i will start trying to help out i will try to help out this weekend but im goin to my parents house for the weekend and i dont know how much i will be online so you mite have to have someone else help but i will try my best. :)

i have been getting emails telling me "You have been added to this usergroup" i got 2 on the 16 and one on the 18 and i thought i was already part of the usergroup that they where telling me i was added to cause i has asked to be part of them but i had already got an email about being add back on june 16. its not a big deal i jst thought i would let you know so if they were automated emails or something. :D

guilty :oops: . i have customized my root desktop the way i want it and dont want to have to recustomize my user. and it jst a pain to have to su into root when you need to use root. i dont know thats jst me :(

i couldnt think of anywhere else to put this so im goin to post here. anyway i was wondering if anyone else uses opera and if they have a problem changing there prefrences on google. i really like to have mine set to veiw 100 hits at the same time. but in opera it can never remember this. but i go into the preferences and it still says 100 then i hit save it it shows all 100 but then if i close the browser and go to google and search it goes back to the default 10 this is kind of bothering me. i can remember but i think im running into this problem at home to on my linux box but i know its happening at work on my windows 2000 pro computer. thanks for the help in advance.

try them both out, im actually pretty sure that it is "+" so give that a try first

Applets are web based and applications run outside the browser on there own.

yeah i know the server is up and running cause i can access it from work here but maybe i will give it one more day to get to all the dns servers updated with it. i dont know what else it could be. but i updated the dns on sunday so by today or maybe tomorrow it should be all updated. i really have to look into getting a program or something so i dont have to update my ip everytime we get it changed on us. or look into get a static ip but that would cost a lot more then im willing to pay. well i will see what happens.

last time i promise. but my roommate turned off the cable modem and to go into my dns and change my ip. so can you test it out one more time ppl. after i get a heads up from you guys im goin to start created the page and get an actually webpage up and running.

has anyone else tryed to see if they can access the pages. i have been told that it could take up to 72 hours before all the DNS servers to have the information they need to get you to my site and i was messing with my DNS stuff saterday so i will check back with everyone here in like on weds and see if you can access it then.

thats odd cause i can get to it here at work and so can some ppl i know on another forum. thats odd i will ahve to see whats goin on with that. thanks for the help.

well im not exactly sure but when looking at www.sendmail.org there is never a mention of IMAP but it talks about SMTP alot so im guessing its a SMTP server. but check out there site and maybe you will find something i missed.

and you have all those different text editors, GUIs, Calculators, and Office Suites so you have a choice. try them out and use the one you like best. and get rid of the ones you dont like. with *NIX its all about choice.

good cause i was starting to think it was jst me.

it is version 7.11 and yeah it jst kicks me back to the log in main screen asking me to log on. and yeah cookies are set to be used. and www.elitelinux.com i believe uses phpbb and it works there and same with www.linuxforums.org and i know that is backed by phpbb cause the logo on there site is the phpbb logo. and i can log on there nad it keeps me logged on. if you have an ideas i hope to beable to fix it cause i dont want to have to use mozilla for only one site but i will till i get it working in opera.
