Sounds awfully like someone expecting the DaniWeb membership to do their homework assignment for them, without any effort of their own, to me...

It took a little getting used to here, but I like it now to be honest.

But then I read all the blogs on a regular basis, so there is no need for me to be scrolling backwards through the comment list if you see what I mean.

Having the most recent comment at the top of the pile is something that a number of blog systems do now.

It was deleted because the piece was cut and pasted, word for word, from another site. The original being part of an editorial at WServerNews

When writing a blog entry feel free to quote from another blog and reference it, but you still need to actually be writing something original, adding your own opinion, putting your spin onto it. You can't just copy something wholesale that has already been posted elsewhere.

Hi Juan, welcome to DaniWeb.

What this does highlight, of course, is the importance of supplying as much relevant detail as possible when asking a support question if we are going to stand any chance of answering it quickly and correctly.

It just works, most of the time. There have been a handful of firmware upgrades since launch which might have helped.

We have 110 PS2 titles, of which 95 worked OK straight out of the box. Which is what, 86% or thereabouts.

Sony have a list of titles along with how well they work, from no problems to not at all, on their PS3 website IIRC.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

I have become totally addicted to Elder Scrolls: Oblivion on the PS3 it has to be said.

As for who plays older games on newer consoles, my family does. The vast majority of our collection of 100+ PS2 titles work just fine and dandy on the PS3 - even the UK version which has been surgically butchered to prevent this from happening ;)

Er, yeah, welcome I think ;)

Never happened, mea culpa, too busy, ran out of time, real world intervened, yada yada yada.

Maybe we can do better this year and make something happen around Xmas time? Which gives us a few months to organise things...

How long is a piece of string?

Or more appropriately, what languages do you speak fluently, what part of the IT business are you interested in, is your motivation to make the most money or make the most difference, what are your skills?

The answers to those questions will each, I suspect, throw up a different opportunity for choosing a country to work in.

see you never needed to post here at all!
stop trolling in the threads i created to make them look bad and stop following me round like a lost sheep
if you want to give answers to my problems thats fine, but this is plain harrassment, no wonder people are leaving, you are a detrement to daniweb!

Calm down.

He is perfectly entitled to contribute to the same threads as you, and the fact that he is doing so within forums that he has always been active in would suggest he is not following you around.

Threads are open to be debated, for differing opinions to be aired, that does not constitute harassment.

Worse than that, he was a 419 scamming phisher - also sending this stuff by PM. Now banned.

In future though, please use the 'Flag Bad Post' tool to report such things as they will get dealt with quicker as a rule that way.

Thanks.

Error 2738 is an error relating to VBScript being disabled or not installed. A quick Google reveals some folk have had problems with it during QuickTime/iTunes installs and points to an Apple support doc here for help.

Basically suggesting you ensure it is enabled/installed and if still having problems install the latest VBScript engine for Windows.

FWIW I installed the Safari Beta on Vista without hassle, so it is not an inherent problem with the Safari installer.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Works fine here. If you don't count the unexplained freezing, the fuzzy font anti-aliasing, the security vulnerabilities (half a dozen have already been exposed), the distinctly non-Windows UI (which will alienate far too many Windows users) and the memory usage...

Well I didn't retain the UK IT Security of the Year title, that very deservedly went to Paul Marks from The New Scientist.

However, I did win the Best IT Security Feature award for the second year running, so I am happy enough.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes...

Why do you think it is a Firefox killer? I mean what features in particular make you say that?

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

I see that the favorite browser of the Apple Mac fanboy, Safari, has arrived for Windows users according to this DaniWeb blog entry.

I have just downloaded it and will be giving it a whirl myself, and will be interested to see how the claims of being the fastest Windows browser stack up in real world use.

It has been an interesting few days for web browsers, what with Netscape Navigator 9 getting a Beta 1 release as well.

Can't see any of them making much of an impact upon IE, or Firefox for that matter though.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Doesn't count, this years awards are based on work published last year and had, in fact, already been judged and decided a couple of months ago.

Still, puts me in good stead for next year, what with breaking both the UK/India visa story and the TomTom SatNav virus ones - and both here on DaniWeb of course. So if I do win for either of them in the 2008 awards, DaniWeb will pick up on the credit, in the press releases etc.

Actually, it might even feature this year as I do not yet known which of my news stories has been shortlisted in the 'security news reporting' category, and a bunch of DaniWeb/Inside Edge ones were in contention...

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

You should be looking at how well it does its job in protecting you from nasties, first and foremost, with the other considerations being secondary to that.

That said, take a look at the latest AV Comparatives testing, and my DaniWeb blog posting about it here.

ESET NOD32 AntiVirus 2.7 performed best of the lot...

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

Tuesday is the 2007 (UK) IT Security Journalist of the Year awards ceremony, and I seem to be up for the gong in 4 out of the 6 categories including the overall title which I was lucky enough to win last year.

I can't see me winning it again, to be honest, but it is free posh nosh in a very nice restaurant in London so I will not be complaining whatever. You never know, I might pick up one of the smaller awards such as 'Best Security News Story' or 'Best Security Feature' which will be nice enough as they come with a £500 ($1000) cash bonus :)

Anyway, being a superstitious soul, wish me luck why dontcha?

let anyone say whatever they feel like in a thread that I have started. That's not ever going to happen.

Yes it is, you start a thread you do not own it.

And you have the nerve to pm me over this and give me a warning?

Yes indeed, I was actually being friendly and letting you know that you were already on a 5 point infraction and one more would get you banned. I was giving you the opportunity to avoid that ban by modifying your behavior.

Being Virtual is the working title, an exploration of everything about online identity from virtual worlds through to identity theft...
