for the future ,change you windows updats to download but let me chose when to install ,and when it notifies that you have updates ,view them and un-check any hardware updates,just install critical updates

for starters you are downloading from other peoples computer when you use utorrent ,so there upload speed determines you download speed ,and not everyone has the 6mb speed you have

Right click mycomputer/properties will give you most info about your computer or control panel, system icon .not sure what port # you are refering to. Ip address .type winipconfg in start/run i think will work ,I haven't used win98 for a couple of yrs now .
