There might be a import export function on the top toolbar ,in File and then export ,and choose contacts like in outlook express ,i only have outlok 2000 and express..or you can do a search for the file its stored in the file format for contacts is WAB ,so so a search for *.WAB and copy it to a floppy or what ever to take it to a nother computer and then open out look and do a import and take it from the floppy or what ever media you use .

This is a handy little trick you can use with Internet Explorer 6 to make it boot up extremely fast
Make a shortcut of iexplore on your desktop ... right-click on the shortcut to Internet Explorer and add the parameter '-nohome' to the end of the command line, like so:

Target: Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome

I tried and it will not let me change the target line to the above

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

Maybe this, if you are using winxp ,do you have the Quilck Launch set on the lower toolbar ,if so there should be a little icon ther that is for showing the desktop.Thats if the tool bar is showing when you are running the install ,most time it is ,
if quick launch is not set then you can set it by right clicking on the lower tool bar ,go to tool bars and check off quick launch .

Hi.....and thanks. I downloaded Hijack This and created a new folder on my desktop and put it in that folder. However, when I open it, I got the message that it appears that I am trying to open it in a temporary file. I then placed it under Program Files and opened it there and got the same message. Sorry if this is a silly question, but where should I place it so that it is in a permanent folder?

Have you unzipped it completely ,some folks run winzip ,but don't finish the unzip and try to run it from the winzip temp folder .?? just a thought

Thank you for replying
When i press F10, a black screen shows up with a white box. On the top of the box, it says PhoenixBIOS setup Utility. Here are the functions that show in the box.
Main: PXE Function; Parallel Port; Fram Buffer size (There is a little box to the right showing the functions of Parallel Port, I see the BIOS function, but could not access to that box)
Boot: ATAPI CD-ROM Drive; Hard Drive; Floppy Diskette Drive; Network Boot (However, these functions are there just for........ look. I can't access or do anything)
Exit: some exit functions
There, that is all i can find in the box after pressing F10. I've tried to go back in there so many times to fix things up. But none has revealed any success.

Thats you Bios ,Thats your BIOS all you need to do is learn hoe to move around inside!!
there are many different BIOSES so getting into the different sections of each bios may be different ,usually the arrow keys to move about and the + and - keys or the enter key will helpmake changes in each section and change a setting

Scanning in Spybot Search and Destroy:

1. Downloaded and Install Spybot S&D, accepting the Default Settings

2. In the Menu Bar at the top of the Spybot window you will see 'Mode'. Make certain that 'default mode' has a check mark beside it.

3. Close ALL windows except Spybot S&D

4. Click the button to ‘Search for Updates’ then download and install the Updates.

5. Next click the button ‘Check for Problems’

6. When Spybot is complete, it will be showing ‘RED’ entries bold 'Black' entries and ‘GREEN’ entries in the window

7. Make certain there is a check mark beside all of the RED entries ONLY.

8. Choose ‘Fix Selected Problems’ and allow Spybot to fix the RED entries.

9.REBOOT to complete the scan and clear memory.

Finally if you are going to run both Spybot SD and Ad-Aware SE, leave the rescan with HijackThis until you have completed running both tools. If only running Spybot SD then RESCAN with HijackThis and POST your logfile in the same thread using ‘Add Reply’. Please do not attempt to fix anything in HijackThis yourself!

Scanning With Ad-Aware SE :

1. Download and Install Ad-Aware SE, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan

2.Close ALL windows

caperjack 875 I hate 20 Questions Team Colleague

reboot computer, start hitting the f8 key and choose safe mode and run ad-aware in safe mode .

2 weeks 12 hours a day it worked properly when i replaced last time its processor. I just changed this processor which was working properly(400Mhz with 600MHz).
after this it did not work with last 400MHz pocessor
now what to do

Could be lots of things ,video /Ram /motherboard ,
First Does the computer bootup at all ,do the fans run or is it completly dead .
just what happens when you turn it on!??

I thinking it could be the Motherboard or Powersupply ,But Ram and or Video Card can cause this sort of problem also .
If i read you right you are saying that the 400 worked ,you upgraded to a 600 and its now not working even when you put the 400 back in .Right .

If that is right ,you could try taking out the Ram ,the video card ,sound card ,modem and any other Cards that are in the Slots .and try turning on the computer to see if it powers up

Please do this.
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
Your copy of HijackThis needs to be in a folder of it's own. When HJT fixes anything, it makes backups of the original files in the folder it is in. Since Temporary folders are emptied now and then (the files are DELETED), it would not be a good idea to have your backups there. Those backups would be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

1. Please go to you're 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder 'HJT'.

2. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

3. Close ALL windows except HJT

4. SCAN with HJT

5. POST the new log in this thread using 'Add Reply'

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS SOME OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO YOUR COMPUTER'S HEALTH

compatibility shouldn't be an issue with a PCI card ,how did you uninstall and disable the onboard ??
Usually one of two ways to disable , jumber on motherboard, or in the bios!
so with the computer running ,you would go right click on mycomputer/properties/hardware/ device manager /uninstall drivers for the onbard video display .shut down computer install the new PCI card ,then disable the onboard ,if its a jumper on the motherboard do it before you boot computer ,if its in the bios ,boot computer to BIOS/SETUP and disable onboard ,then reboot computer and windows should detect the new video card ,and either load the drives or ask for place where drivers are located /like on a cd that came with the new card . ,

Hey all, slight hardware/Windows related problem I'm really hoping someone might be able to help me with.

Basically I've assembled a new computed from parts purchased separately (all parts are working as I have tested them separately) - except for a hard drive which I have taken from my previous computer.

Now I can get to BIOS, but as soon as I try and get a step further to Windows, I get the message saying 'Windows could not boot up due to a recent hardware change... yadda yadda yadda...', and gives me the options of starting with last known good config, starting normally and such. I've tried all options, but I just keep getting the same screen.

I'm literally tearing my hair out trying to figure out what exactly it is that is stopping me from getting in to Windows... does anyone know what might be going on?

Thanks all!

Mike

Windows xp doesn't like it when you change the motherboard ,if you had winxp loaded You will need to re-install winxp for a quick fix .
