I too repair [at home] computer ,and would have tried a new power supply in it a long time ago if it were in my shop
don't think wiping of lcd did it ,but will say don't use window cleaner on you lcd ,use a lcd cleaner only .
if you have a add in video card / agp or pci-e i think you need to open the case and make sure the card is seated correctly by pushing in on the card
My daughter has forgotten her password for her laptop, the niceman at the shop did however setup an administrators password, which only I know. Can I reset her password and pleeeease how do I do it. Its Easter and a 12 yr old daughter is no fun around the house with Laptop
when in yours go to ,start/control panel /users and click on your daughters acct and click on to remove password and just follow the prompts ,good luck
I attach my motherboard picture. can you tell me which capacitor?
if it had leaky /bad caps you would be able to see them yourself,
the ones i circled affect cpu the most ,
That page is all I can find too. But alas, it is of no help. The symbol I'm looking for is a small circle with lines radiating out towards the corners. Thanks for trying to help.
is this for coding of some sort ,if so check out the software development section of daniweb .found here ,good luck .
http://www.daniweb.com/forums/forum2.html
never hear that question before ,wasn't even shore what you meant ,but simple goole.com search found this .
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm
haven't tried it but it should ,i will load it on a xp pro machine and let you know
Probably because I've usually worked with HP/Compaq laptops and they usually have Conexant.
sorry usually dosn't count when it comes to drivers ,the realtech driver installed on this laptop ,so it has realtech device or the driver would not have installed at all
Apart from the obvious, I've experienced that Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 drivers work on most laptops =)
Hi, are you saying that this driver will work with win7 on a laptop with a realtech sound device, because that's what this laptop has ,it doesn't have a Conexant sound device
sorry about that,i posted 2 links and removed one but not all of it .
all you had to do was back the url up to the .com
this is a free safe program i have been using for yrs .it will[if it can identify it ] tell you all you need to know and more about the motherboard .
http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.phpurl]
if it were me i would reinstall windows 7 and install the high def driver to see what happens .also it may be its need motherboard chipset drivers ,i would try that also [first]
ok,maybe you tried this allready but here goes .
go to control panel/sound/ check in advance and properties for check boxes to make sure speakers are turned on
sorry i couldn't be of more help. i just checked the bios of a Compaq laptop i have here and it dont give you much to change at all ,i would have thought given that you can buy a pcmcia sound card ,you would be able to disable onboard sound device in the bios.
sorry, good luck
it it were mine i would check in the bios to make sure that on board audio is enabled
Yes, I tried that too. But I keeps saying I already have the correct driver. So it won't install anything else. But what I have won't work.
Appreciate the reply though
ok,
just a ?,did you uninstall the driver win7 loaded ,before you install one of the latest drivers you mentioned you tried from Realtek or Soundmax'
edit ; just found info that the sound device might be, Intel High Definition Audio Full-duplex audio,so unless you are trying high def drivers its not gonna work
try the high def driver found here .
http://www.brothersoft.com/realtek-high-definition-audio-driver-download-65158.html
I have an xp computer and i want to set it back to its default setting how can I do it without the cd
next to impossiable unless it has a recovery image on a 2nd partition on the harddrive
had similar problem ,difference was ,pci sound blaster audigy card /win7 no drivers ,but when i click on the sound device [in device manager ]and told it to fix problem it went to the net and got 3rd party drivers that made it work in win7
so as I see it, its the same form just with some plastic somewhere? So it should be no problem connecting the PGA478 CPU to the socket where the PPGA478 CPU used to be?
it will work, its the same PPGA is often abbreviated PGA. no difference
ppga info here , first line of definition says it all ![A pin grid array, often abbreviated PGA]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pin_grid_array
But the PGA478 CPU's I'm looking at is after all called a Mobile Processor, so shouldn't it be made for running in laptops?
should work then if its a mobile chip, do they say that the PGA478 is a dual core
not positive ,not sure of all the but i took a Mobile p4 478 out of a imb laptop and put it into a dell tower p4 478 and it works ,
i think for you the biggest problem would be heat ,as i think the PGA478 is for a well ventilated tower and the PPGA478 is[mobile or sentrino] for laptop and is designed to run cooler
Hi, I was getting an intermittent high pitch hum from my PC as though something decided to kick in (fan?) with more revs. After replacing my 17 inch monitor (burnt out) with a new 19 inch widescreen, I now get the noise continually, and the text appears to be a lighter colour. Any clues anyone? I was thinking it's the video card with fan attached as maybe the video card can't support the bigger monitor, and cause the text to lighten.
lower the resolution on the video
Thanks, you've been very helpful.
your quite welcome ,anytime ,but remember www.google.com is you friend along the way, when in a hurry ,just ask it anything you want to know
I would like to back up the whole system, plus a restore disk..
that the same thing ,
go to start /control panel/ click on ,back up and restore ,or if your control panel is set to category go to system settings and click on back up computer ,then create a system image ,this will be your restore disk ,not sure how many disk to use ,just buy a pack of disk
I just purchased new computer with Windows 7 installed on it. I have to back up..but don't know what DVD to use DVD-RW or DVD+RW
what do you have to back up on a new computer ,anyway, either will work ,and you don't need to use dvd-rw's as dvd -r or +r will work also .
just incase you don't know rw means that the dvd is rewritable ,meaning you can reuse them ,
dvd-r or +r are write once only .
are you just backing up files or creating a win7 system restore disk
After getting password it just remains idle for a longer time, only showing my desktop background.
at this point ,do alt+ctrl+del to bring up task manager go to file /new and type in explorer.exe, hit enter , see what happens
sound like the folks at Advanced Uninstaller Pro are right about the icon cache being the problem ,now how to fix it ,im not sure, yet
edit =
try this maybe .
http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/how-to-rebuild-the-icon-cache-in-windows-vista/
are you referring to desktop icons or start menu icons ,or both .
if its desktop icons try deleting them ,and then going to start ,all program and right click on icons of concern and chose send to and sent to desktop as a shortcut .might fix it might not
and lastly, a few years ago, I would have this system shutdown message appear around 20 minutes after each time I'd turn my computer on, and it would shut down in four minutes. a friend at the time told me that my hard disk had some deffect cuasing that to happen. now I think he was wrong. I must have had some batch file somehwere installed, right? although, he kept formmatting the disk continuously, but the problem persisted!!!
that was a virus of the day a few yrs back
and mine back to administrator I was denied both times.
lets start with why did you changed yours from admin in the first place ,as a computer have more than 1 admin acct. this is likely where the problem stems from ,
try rebooting computer ,hold down the f8 key and go to safe mode and enter the admin acct that should be there if windows was loaded correctly . [you should see a admin acct + your acct and your sons when in safe mode ]in the real admin acct try making the changes ,good luck
are you using any software to allow you to work on 2 screens ,also what windows version
found this using google ,it explains briefly what it is and how to use it ,also mention not using a registry editor to edit it .
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc957864.aspx
first 2 i would try are these 2 ,
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [DVDCTray] C:\Documents and Settings\Chris Nicola\My Documents\Downloaded Files 3\Downloaded Farstone Programmes\05091518\Files\DVDCreator\DVDCTrayIconShl.exeO4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VirtualDrive] "C:\Program Files\FarStone\VirtualDrive\VDTask.exe" /AutoRestore
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VirtualDrive] "C:\Program Files\FarStone\VirtualDrive\VDTask.exe" /AutoRestore
run hijack and put a check by it and fix and reboot and see what happens
I logged into another account, for Vista, & hotmail can be accessed with no problem. When I log into my usual account, i'm back to the same scenerio....hotmail does not accept my ussername/password.
Thanks
so then it not a hotmail issue ,you must be typing in wrong user name[ email address] or password
you could try startup lite and see if it picks it up and you then check of to disable it on startup'
http://www.malwarebytes.org/startuplite.php
or if that doesn't work get hijackthis and install and run it and save log and copy past it here and i will tell you what to check off and to disable it.do not check off any thing in hijackjack until it see the log if you decide to use it ,

not sure what to tell you are u using ie7 or 8 for your browsers ,or some other browser ,also you might want to scan computer for viruses
