yes they do make money from having it there , your better of installing the disk you made for the laptop as it will have all the necessary drivers

if you got recovery dvd with it or made your own when you first got it up and running ,use it to reinstall win7 ,and don't install the software disk ,it like came with one or prompted you to make one when making the recovery disk ,
or just go to add and remove program and remove all software programs you don't want ,most are only trials anyway,not really sure what all Dell puts on new machines .

hi i think this is one of the reasons for developing i7 multicore cpus was so one didn't need to have a multi socked motherboard anymore,4 core in one accomplishes this for the average user ,all the mutil socket boars i looked at so far are server motherboards

try turning off the monitor ,and leave it off until windows boots completely ,with monitor turned off .turn on the computer ,go walk the dog [or go have a pee,lol]and then turn on the monitor when you get back to see what happened

my opinion is no it would not ,but you have to remember it is a cpu /ram intence program now ,with so many plugins and such.open ie ,go to tools,manage addons ,and disable them and see how it works

that almost sounds like a video problem ,and or memory problem ,computer ram or video cards ram

Hello, its a dvd rom not a HDD

ok well it turns out that my computer has deeper problems then i thought, the program said that there was no disk drive to be found meaning that the disk drive is some how disconnected inside of my laptop and seeing as i don't want to take it apart to fix it i will just have to make due without it thank you anyways

yest best left alone or to the professionals ,external ones are relatively cheap,good luck

not quite what the poster needs to do,that link is about doing a doing upgrade of media center over winxp ,with out removing xp pro or home ,they have windows media center key but no cd ,so they have no way of installing winxp ,and then installing media cent over it,you need to have both wintows media center cd and winxp or home cd to do what that links is all about .

it is very common problem who are use xp.some time virus attack the computer and it shown this kind of problem.

now this is just my way of trouble shooting ,as i am comfortable with searching for and downloading and reinstalling driver and what not .
i would go to device manager and uninstall video device ,reboot and see what happens ,you will likely need to reinstall drivers ,make note of video device when in device manager if you try this .

i don't know of any keyboard shortcuts for that ,maybe in the bios /setup you ,some thing like setting it to vga mode .

now this is just an opinion , i would use the 2 gig ,more ram is always better

try a system restore back to before you made the setting change
start/all Programs/accessories/system tools /system restore ,pick a date before the change

hi, try hitting f8 on bootup and go into safe mode and see if you fix it

i suggested malwarebytes because of all the references to mywebsearch malware .
