my opinion is if not broke don't fix it,so i would just get the display adapter driver

you usually just download them the laptop makers website ,you maker makes harder to do than most ,you need to use the serial number and search for drivers ,it has intel graphic chipset ,if you look on the back of the laptop it should show the serial # and you can either search in the link provided or post serial/number and i can search for you to make sure you get the right one .good luck .

besides telling us a whole lot more about you computer ,like make and model # type of display adapter it uses ,did you try reinstalling the latest driver for the device

according to the link i posted above ,it will only go as high a 3.0ghz cpu at 800fsb,you already have a 2.5 ,if it were me i wouldn't spend to much to achieve the extra .5ghz

yeah i read it wrong last time ,i guess it will use the duel core 3gig in you first links ,as is stated in the link in my other post .the pentium d ,is duel core cpu

the nodel # of the motherboard would be good to know ,im not sure if it will compatible with the quad cpu.

edit ,just found this and it looks like a budget tower and will not take any of the cpu you listed .

i don't know a lot about raid ,but,i think you will be able to keep it raid, but not the raid you have now as all will be lost with the install of the new win7 install

if you created custom icons you can use them ,just right click on the desktop /properties/desktop/customize desktop/click on the mycomputer icon,network icon , ect ect /choose change icon, and browse to the custom icon you created or downloaded .

2GB ram determines the speed of your computer, the more ram the faster the computer. Hope that helps:)

have to disagree with this ,that is the size of the ram ,nothing to do with the actual speed of the computer ,that would be the cpu, core 2 ,2.40mhz

yes, more ram will make the OS work quicker ,but that's not really the speed of the computer ,when we talk speed!

just reread and realize you are also looking to change icons like the mycomputer icon and that a bit more in depth than any info i just posted .i checked my winxp mode and the registry doesn't show the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\explorer\Shell Icons either.

also if you are looking to change the look of an icon ,say on the desktop ,right click on the icon go properties /change icon /then browse /and navigate to c:\windows\system32\shell32.exe, you will be presented with a list of different icons,also just found this one ,pifmgr.dll

Also I don't feel like extracting and compiling a DLL to get my icons to work for the system icons (My Computer, Network Locations, Start Menu, and so on).

here what i think ,right click on the start button /go properties / change to classic view , then customize, then add ,then navigate to the program you want to add ,and click on its .exe file to add the icon to the start menu ,then you can change it back to start menu from classic view ,i could only find a way to add them in classic mode

ok check device manager and mouse and other pointing devices ,if its not in there then you need to reinstall its drivers . .i checked Fujitsu site and don't list driver for it .if it happens to be in the device manager with a red x or yellow !,then double click on it and choose update driver ,and let it search for driver

hello ,try this ,start/control panel /mouse /device settings/ and there you should see disable /enable ,hope this helps .

not a big fan of iTunes myself but, it should find the files when you move them,you may have to direct it to the external ,and it may also show them in duplicate after it scans for them.

also all[0r most anyway ] of the numbers you have in you post are that of Ram memory ,not hard drive storage memory, you say you have a 2gig and then say you have 41gig of music ,just typos im sure .

im surprised win7 64 bit installed on a computer with only 2gig of ram ,i suggest at least 3gig and even better 4gig ,

you have a 1tb harddrive ,how do you have it partitioned ,how many ,how big is each partition ,maybe you could shrink one partition and then expand the one running windows

did you try putting the disk in and see if it would run the repair to fix the problem

time to run chkdsk on you harddrive, choose repair .recover bad sectors ,info found here .

control panel /admin tools ,event viewer /check for system errors

instead of using run ,use cmd .go to start and type cmd in the search box ,the cmd will show in the search results ,right click on it and choose run as administrator ,this will give you the upper admin rights you need to run both commands .good luck

i dont think it will install on Home P, just Ultimate/pro /or enterprise editions. or Windows server most edition ,good luck

jingda, my Windows firewall is on and the Internet Options are set to block popups.I haven't tried another browser yet and I don't know how to "ping" a website.

go to start / in the search bos type in "cmd" click on it to open command prompt. type in. ping www.google.com, hit enter .

also check in internet options/security to make sure google is not in a block list

update ,tried install win7 but my p3 only had 256 meg of ram and the win7 install would no continue after reporting the amount of ram needed to be 512 minimum

Being on for barely three seconds is not enough time for it to overheat because of the fan running poorly (the does run however).

oh yes it is!a cpu can get hot instantly and not turn .

i have hp dv9000 here that would not even turn on[not mine belongs to a customer of mine ] ,just light up all the lights on it ,it was left running on a bed overnight,after that it would not even turn on , and has not run until i took it apart ,used a butane torch on the video chip and added paste to both the video chip and processor ,it now runs,i used it last night for over 1 hr, so far so good !

Looks like everything is done.

The usual update KB2416447 failed to install 3 times.
It is the only outstanding update.

try method #2 here ,get the removal tool and 3 versions of. net framework install one at a time,restarting computer ,then try windows update again .

the file in question is a mpeg-2 .ts video file .
i think jingdas' second link is the one to check out ,kind of where i was going in my last post about typing in the file extension ,because computer is not set to show extensions of known files .

Hello everyone..
I have recorded a video from my satellite digital receiver device on a USB flash disk..
After I plugged the USB disk into my computer, I noticed that the name of the file contained unusual characters (I've taken a picture of the file and put it in the attachments).. I tried to rename the file, move it, and copy it, but my attempts were all in vain!
Could anyone kindly help me?

when you change the name are you tying in the file extension ".ts"

don't forget the power supply has to have a sata plug or adapter as well,and you can still but large ide drives .just google it

nothing really happened.
There was a brief flash like you get when you engage chk disc.
Still receiving original error message from Microsoft.

just rereading and noticed a typo on my part with this info .my laptop keyboard needs to be replaced ,one day .

anyway ,it should be .
"sfc /scannow" with out the " of course ,not sfc /scsnnow

good luck ,i did a repair install just last night on client computer ,everything remained the same ,you have to reactivate windows and reinstall windows updates ,in my case the computer went back to sp2,so i had to install sp3 and after that some 93 updates ,but client never lost any personal data ,and it fixed all corrupt windows files and got rid of a black screen bootup

so no infections found ,not sure were to go from here, as it seems your windows install has many issues ,if it were mine or one i was working on for a customer or friend i would do a repair install of xp.

you have real issues with you install of windows /even a virus perhaps .

sfc should have run with out issues .

have you scanned you computer for viruses /trojans lately .
if not ,try www.malwaresbytes.org .run full scan,view rsults/ fix suggested ,and post the log back here .

when you get back try ,try a system file recovery ,going to start /run and type in ,sfc /scsnnow ,note there is a space between the c and /,it may ask for the xp cd

after the download did you run the install of dot net framwork 4.0
the main reason for downloading it direct was to avoid having to get it through windows updates

Went to Microsoft site to check for updates.
There was 4 updates for this but the first one failed.
The other 3 were successful.
The information on the failed one was:
Windows Xp Vista and Windows Server 2008 x 86
KB2416447 failed.
It referred of course to >net framework.

did you try one of the older versions ,scroll down a a bit and try 3.0 or 3.5 maybe
