try the soundblaster web site http://www.soundblaster.com/ they have a great selection of pci cards that can do almost anything
u might also want to check the jumper setting on the cdroms and make sure the pata cable is align to the right drive slave and master setting.
yes you can, it can be a very long process but if your dat is workth it you will do it, and it teach a very valuable lesson.....ALWAYS BACK UP norton disk doctor can reset bad sectors
if that does not work remove the cmos battery, wait a few days then replace it with a new one.
u should have an option to get to the bios when the laptop start. F1, F2, F11 or some thing maybe delete key
reset your bios, thats usually done by removing a jumper on the mobo restart the pc, then u get a message the bos has been reset, then replace the jumper bam.....u good to go
u can use the HDD in the same machine with a utillity program that can repair bad sector. scandisk can do this or norton utilities. if u can repair the BOOT sector (head sector) the bios will read it. then you can attach to another computer and get your files.
the fastest way to wipe/destroy a HDD is by magnetic field. the best way to wipe a HDD is to do a military wipe trend micro has a utility then can wipe the hdd and write zero's and ones to it
here are few question/tips for u
when u start the pc do u hear the power supply and harddisk humming. does the hdd activity light comes on the front of the pc if these sound are absent you motherboard is dead. u can power on and off as much as u like. if u answer yes to any of the above questions then you stand a chance of getting the pc to start. u might want to check the power conn and cable connecting your devices to the mobo.
this does not have anything to do with the power supply. Your CPU is whats bad, check the fan, heatsink and thermal grease. if the grease if hard get it replace, if u have another processor thats is identical you could try replacing the present one.
what Service Pack are u rinning on?
start in safe mode disable any startup item in msconfig that has to do with the printer. if you are not running the latest SP get it NOW. then reinstall the drivers for the printer. PS try using the driver from the cannon web site
Is there anyone here who has a easy fix for releasing a 169 ip. Mainly what cause this to happen. and how it can be overcome. any suggestions would be gretly appreciated.
ok when u do the search (wild card search *.<file extention>) search should look like this (*.bmp,*.jpg,*.gif,*.png) and so on. for all files and folder and ensure hidden folder are searched. once the search is done, create a directory yoiu want to save the files. then highlight all found pic and images then copy to the new dir. i said copy beif u do a move and an error occurs you are going to lose the moved files. SO DO COPY once thats done you can delete the ones that are in all the diff directory. that should help with cleaning up your pc .
each device has that printer on it or on the documetation that came with it. try this utility Sandra 2007 it goes indept and give all sorts of info about all your attached devices
networking and wireless and network security
I notice you did not mention anyting about the other devices wattage usage. yes thay all have wattage usage. especially your HDD. your cd burner, your video card....... However the more power you have the better. depending on what you are plannig on doing with the pc. but more power can't hurt. got for the 450watts
Now question one how are you searching for the file? by ext (*.jpg) something like that?
Q2 are these image attributes hidden?
Q3 Where on the hard disk are these files located.
Q4 did you get any error message when copying to the newly created folder.
you cannot save a search and expext to save the items that is has found. As you can see you will only end up with the parameter search in the event you need to do that search again.
u might want to do a search in the directory shown for the file-make sure hidden files are shown--- then do a search in the registry -if you are comfortable doing so--- for this file. delete any reference.
see below for a sample boot.in for xp. notice the default is diff from yours. thats y u are getting the (Default) beside the name of the operting system. teher is also a newer version of vistabootPRO. give it a try it works fine on my xp pro.
This is a sample of a default Boot.ini file from a Windows XP Professional computer.
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
the autorun can only works from within an operating system. However this does not mean the cd is bootable. on the comp that the cd autorun use an iso reader program to determine if the cd is bootable, try winiso and extract the cd image. when it opens the file it will tell u if it's a bootable image.
edit the boot.ini again removing any text beside the word windows. or use this niffty utility vistabootPRO, it was made for vista but workes with xp also
you migh want to check device manager if u have a group that said other all those items will need theire respective drivers. i bet thats where your nic card is. id the nic there then get another computer and get the drivers from the ibm site.
what did u install prior to this happening? whether hw or sw. press f8 immediately after bios load go into safe mode and remove/disable whatever was installed. then restart.
server 2003 pretty much easy to install. when you finish install it will walk you through steps to set up diff servers and services. by default it disable some non essential services.
ensure that the sound schemes are turned off and lso check the themes you are using they some have default sounds associated with each theme.
have you tried deleting the present icons. then try recreating the icons.
yes
did you eat today
use this nifty utility to get the passwird and user names. Ophcrack...... burn the iso to a cd and boot from the cd, it will detect your windows installation and find all password associated with accounts on the pc.
yes as long as the cd is bootable and is the same version as what you installed. that is pro or home edition.
here is the easiest way to get this done. use windows fdisk. set the present hard disk with windows installed to be the active. then you can format /delete partition c:
please note: drive C:/ is seen by the system as an active drive and just by the mere fact that it's c: the system will not format it. especially from within windows.
try fdisk it should work.
is the cd bootable? seem like it's not a bootable image on the cd.
what is HTI
dont' know, if it's food i will try it
Jerk Pork

i am feeling your pain, i have 2 computers that i am experiencing the same problem with. so i decide to purchase a video card because there was nothing showing on the monitor. only to discover is was not a viodeo problem. i then realized after reading your post that i did change both power supplies.. .. so therfore i beleive the Mo borads are fried. one of the computer was a dell and the power supply did go bad. the owner bought a new one but at a bit hiigher wattage. the other was a clone but the power came from a old dell.
:o well thats really sucks
Ok Here is a toughie.
Just yesterday i installed Reservoir Dogs for the PC onto the computer and all went well. I started up the game and everything going well until on second level the computer receives a blue screen with STOP : 00000000...i dont remember the command alltogether. It also said something about shaders and all that weird stuff i know not of. So i later changed the video settings to 800 * 600 res, shaders off, and 24 bit for one of the options and VOILA! the blue screen then computer restarted itself!
After this a new problem developed. The computer wouldnt boot up. It would load so far in "Normal Mode" then on the windows loading screen would get a blue screen and restart.
SO i try safe mode...this time it just restarts without …
