xcopy will do thise whenther its run from a commnd prompt or as a batch file of within a GUI program. dud u run it with a switch??
yes u can........
you will definately have to reinstall all programs on to XP that are on win98, all files and setting can be moved to xp in various ways. when u move file between fat and ntf or fat and fat 32 the directories will be diff, either caps, concatanated~. as for the drive letter you can go into admin tool>comp management>disk management you can give each drive the letter u want., just do a reboot when you are done.
btw is there any light to indicate that the monitor is getting power
did u try a new install, this would delete the present windows and the registry then reinstall without u loosing your day..
you also stated that u put the hdd in another pc, back up your file there. and if the reinstall dont work then u can format and install clean then slave the drive again and copy back your dat to the drive
u r welcome, do a search u might be able to find a refurb one some where
check the mobo power conn, the wires from the power button to the mobo. if those are intact then u have a busted mobo.
was that a virus scan or a spyware/adware scan. and what program are u using for the scan
does the monitor show that it's getting a signal?
if the bsod happen when windows is running look in the event viewer this will tell you what critical hard/software is causing the prblem. if this does not ahow anything run a spyware scan .spybot, adaware any of those. also check out some on the start up proframs your fam might have installed.
ND run in safe mode for a better chance of not getting the BSOD
am i to understand u have a laptop computer? with 2 hard drives or 2 partition on a 200g? explain please.
as for the BSOD do u get it after windows is upo and running or before windows start.
if during when windows is running where were u doing or click on when it happen. if before windows startup, hit f8 when it's booting up choose bootlog then check the log for what is causing the problem.
1 you would ahve to remove the security from each computer. or if u manager all computer from one server you can set group policies to allow access to each user to access any computer.
why can't u just delete the messages?? then empty the deleted folder.
ask your network administrator, the person who you get internet from.
are u running a 3rd party cd burner that uses the atapi fucnction. nero. roxio or any other
in nero check if there is a setting to use atapi. make sure that not check, i beleive it say only use if your drive supprt it or if u have errors when burning
are u running the latest updates for windows?
sound simular to an issue i had, check the connection from the power button to the mobo. then check the CPU, (if u have any other that will fit in the slot) if those check out then u have a busted mobo.
let me know what is the out come
and the config detect the ppoe and your ip address. if so try rebooting the dsl and the router. pwr off each device, bot the dls then the router then connect the router and dsl box. if tiy are still not able to get online, there might be a config setting in the router.
what is the router connected to. cable modem or dsl box???
yow dude what are u trying to acheive, pc overkill. read very carefully, the spec that any windows pc comes with is telling you that with windows install barebone this is what is needed or recommended. non take a look at the spec that a software require say adobe reader V8 (the free one) that more resourses the software will nedd plus what windows will hog. so my advice, the less u put in the better windows with run..
here is a test, when you get your brand new pc and surf the net, open program see how fast that sucker work, 3 month down the life u wonder if molasses was thrown in your pc. and the only time u can get back that speed is with a clean install.
i am not sure of what type of help u need this time. more details please
1) The first fan inside the power supply that is directed at the back of the case produces very little air not like the normal fans although it revolves very quickly...what is the problem?
this fan removes heat from the power supply, if its spinning fast and little air or non is given off the fan is shot, or the power supply is clogged with dust thus blocking the clear path the the fan if dust is the issue, clean if that does not change the output replace the pwr supple or the fan
2) The second fan inside the power supply that is directed to the inside of the case doesn't revolve at all, so the power supply should be changed?
do u have 2 fan inside the pwr supple????
if the case fan does not spin change it, that takes the heat out of the case if it does not spin get a new one. or check if its connected.,
3) What is a system fan (not the CPU fan)? Where it can be located?
the systemn fan is the one on the case.
4)How to know if this heatsink works or not? heat sink cannot stop work it's a piec of aluminum that dicipate the heat from the processor, the main reason for using aluminum is that it cools faster and transfers heat better than other metals. it cannot stop working
5) The BIOS tells me that both the …
if u are getting "NTLDR is missing
Press Ctrl Alt Del to Restart" then there is no operating system, if u did install and get this message your MBR is mess up,
ok the fans inside your tower sould give off some type of air, howver the one on the CPU mught be turned inwards, you will not feel any air coming from it if thats the case. the heatsink is tha big aluminum grid you see with the fan on the CPU the brain of the Computer. the purpose of the ehatsink is to help remove the heat build up from the processor.
if the fans dont give off any air get them change.
jwrmo
runchkdsk /f then fdisk on the drive, ensure its formatted. then try again.

you neeed to get the correct drivers for your video card installed. i guess you are only seeing 16 colors presently?
does it show up in the bios if yes clean the lens with a lint free cloth, or if u have a can duster. when the pc show the bios u will have n option to choose boot order maybe F12 or F2 hit that key and choose cd rom.
your list did not seem to change. u still have
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {2A5E9D6E-869C-4140-9C09-C3FA34134658} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\basesr.dll
another tip any program in add remove that your dont recognized remove them any broswer addon/tool bar remove them, all of them any search engines remove them. these can all be added back when you are safe again.
because here is the thing if the program is install and u remove the file associated with it each restart will only bring it back especially the nasties
check the t-grease on the cpu. if it's flaky repace it. if u think it's heat shut down and run a fan or place close to an ac vent for 30 mn then try again. if it runs further after that it's definately a heat prob.
u can give it a try in the desk top, if it is bootable it will give u a message "press any key to boot from CD" if it does not boot from the cd u would have to get a bootable cd. if u have a iso reader on the desk top you can rip the image and make it bootable then burn back to another cd and bam you have a bootable cd
you can also switch the slot with another card you have the machine.
do u have an onboard vga slot, try and and see the diff.
can you start in safe mode and check if u shut down
then i beleive you are in the right place. good luck on your search. BTW what is the market like in your nec of the world
ok here is the thing some bios will and are set to use the ide cable as it was design to be used. meaning master at the end and slave in the middle. also depending on the setting for the other hdd some will have a setting for master (single hdd) or master with slave check these setting and make sure you are placing the hdd on the correct part of the ide cable. CS will be override by a jumper setting, especially if u have 2 hadd on the cable. also check your ide cable make sure there are no damages from pulling on it
go to dell wed site and down load driver for all the devices listed under other devices, for your model of pc
is this a bootable cd? if the cd is not bootable u will get that message. it mean that the bios check all location floppy, hdd, cd and then went to a network boot. when it cant find any bootable media it say operting systme not found
does the laptop had a floppy????
you processor is not able to render the graphics base on the speed of the mobo fsb and the graphic card speed. is it pci or agp card. try another slot if u have that option.
as for the memory reseat eache block firmyly, this happened to me recently i had 1G system show 950 i went in remove dust and reseat, bam,,,,,,1g showed up
is the clock synchronized with any world time or microsoft server check the clock properties
if the refresh rate does not fix this, then most likely the cpu would be at fault. compare the spec on the old mobo to the new one, are they diff/simular. the processor is probably too slow for the fsb on the new mobo or you could very well be powering the system with too little power from the old pwr supply.
i have treid other HDD but the pc only shuts off as soon as i power it on. BTW i has a second mobo same make and model thast had a currupt bios, so i switch the bios chip and i still get the same problem with thenother mobo.
check the hard drive partition, normally these hdd comes with 2 partitions one that hold all the installation setting, if that partition is damage you could be getting the BSOD, also check the cpu. make sure good thermal grease is on between the heatsink and processor. and lastly give the hard drive a break it might ve very hot from all the work you have been doing to it.
first and foremost you have to love the field to get into IT. it's not ahrd work but u have to deal with a lot of stress and some itme angry customers. if you can't deal with working late and long hours and work to meet deadlines don't go for it. as i say if you love it these things will not matter cause you know what u aiming to acheive.
