You can also use the registry to change the default program files folder .. the registry key to alter is : HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/ Change the ProgramFilesDir key to what ever path you want. But the recommended solution is to use a software to change the path like what goldeagle2005 suggested.. TweakUI.

Did it happen to your profile only ?? or if you're the only user try making another user account and logging into the account. If you see the start menu with the installed programs then you have your previous profile corrupted .. Try making a new profile.

Do you remember your administrator password ?? If yes then when you get to your login screen (I assume you're using windows xp) press ctrl-alt-del twice and the screen will switch to classic .. now you can type in administrator as username and the password for administrator.
