Windows usually sets the virtual memory size to 1 1/2 the RAM size.

I also have the same problem if I dont install the video card drivers ... when I install the drivers .. everything goes well.

Start a new task in task manager .... msconfig... uncheck the safe mode option and then try again.

You have to install programs on both the operating systems ... but you can cleverly save your space by installing programs on the same location on both windows ... this will let the programs work for both of your windows ... and the programs will have different settings on both OSs.

Can you tell us which specific application you are talking about ... and if its windows then what version of windows are you running .. and how long have you been into this problem ..

scan for viruses and spyware with antivirus and antispyware ... make sure there's nothing in windows startup.

Can you provide some more info about the problem ... I mean when does the restart occur ... n bla bla..

Unchecking items on msconfig doesnot delete that item ... and if you accidently make a mistake ... check the item by opening msconfig again ... it'll restore the startup item. Simple huh.

You can also access the system information by typing msinfo32 in Run dialog box.

Moving the thread to Windows 2000/xp section for better responses.

Reinstall your video card drivers ... if you upgraded the drivers to some latest version lately ... rollback.

You could have a shared video memory enabled ... have you got a graphics card built in your motherboard?

There should be some problem with the compatibility of the program ... contact the vendor support if possible.

Right click desktop --> properties --> appearance --> effects --> uncheck "hide underlined letters for keyboard ..."

And what type of work do you want to do on your lappy?? Tell us your complete system specs ..

1) Right click desktop --> properties --> screen saver --> power options --> advanced --> uncheck "prompt for password when computer resumes from standby".

2) Right click desktop --> properties --> screen saver --> uncheck "On resume, password protect"

Blue screen errors are usually due to faulty hardware .. or incompatible device drivers ... tell us exactly what the error was .. and what was the error code. And also some specs about your modem .. and the driver installed.

You can make an image of your old hard drive and copy it to the new one ... but if its the operating system drive ... then you'll have to see what os is it ... if its a windows 95 or 98 or ME then it'll work fine on the new computer .. but if its windows 2000 or xp then you'll have to reinstall it on the new computer.

My way is to let the song stream ... and "save as" the file when its done.

Can you elaborate your problem clearly ?

Uninstall any device drivers installed by sp2 .. and see if it starts normally ...

Or you can remove physically all the accessories like modem, lan etc ... and try starting windows..

system root is your windows folder .. like c:\windows\system32.

There is another editor called nvu ... I havnt used it but I've heard its good. But I love dreamweaver .. its a blend of code and design.
