I am English yet can do many other accents as well, Bennet knows that seeing as i see him at college more or less everyday :P
American is a tough accent to copy well, there are many ways to do it, but they all sound rubbish :D

Do you get BSOD's ?
Does the monitor display "No signal" ?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

If you are thinking of having 2 gfx cards, you could possibly buy the ATi equivalent, then run 2 of them in the CrossFire mode, which i hear is highly recommended.

Yes, but i at least want to get to the end of the subscription for the product, shame it's out of the 48 days satisfaction thing... Otherwise it would be going back and getting a refund. I will convert to something else after the subscription has gone, but that won't be for a while yet. The customer service from Symantic is appalling. Worst customer service i have ever experienced. They never reply to e-mails, and what they suggest is either, run a useless tool-fix program, reboot, or reinstall, which takes for bloody ever!

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Good plan, but how would u implement it?
Another thing if you were felling nasty, is make a huge catapult type structure and fling the illegal immigrants back from whence they came, after capturing them at the docks, Euro tunnel, etc.

I think immigration legally is perfectly fine, that composes most of the UK's work force, the jobs that us UK citizens can't be bothered to do. But in the UK, no one knows the levels of illegal immigration in this country, and the government is useless at finding them and deporting them out. I mean they are sapping of the government and not putting anything back in, so they are effectively gypsies. What i can't understand is that why can't our British government deport the illegal immigrants straight away? They have to wait for ages to process some documents just to deport them, so the government can't be bothered (as usual) and lets them stay, sapping benefits that come from us poor peoples taxes. I mean grr and argh , why can't we have anti illegal immigration day or something and run round forcefully removing these squatters in our country. It makes me angry so it does. :@

Well global warming could be a future issue, just look at the film "The day after Tomorrow". It shows what 'could' (i use could very loosely) happen. This is just a prequel to a large ice age, much like that of the era after the dinosaurs became extinct. So if the temperature of the atmosphere stays at this high level for a longer period of time, the earth could heat up to such a point where the ice caps melt and that leads to higher seas, yada yada etc etc. But it is a very varying issue with many people saying many different things. I mean some say that the gulf stream may disappear so the UK gets the sort of temperatures that Canada experiences, but others say that there will just be a lot of flooding. It's a very difficult thing to predict or know anything about. Or as some evidence suggests it may just be one of the Earth's cycles closer to the Sun, which happens every X amount of years. Its a very strange issue indeed........

EnderX commented: Are you certain that citing Hollywood on Global Warming is the right thing to do? After all, the High Gore is the usual cite. +3

Thanks to stymiee for moving this,

Also does anyone have this issue? It's really bothering me now....
If anyone wants a picture of the actual error box, i can provide one.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Is your monitor showing a message similar to "No signal" when it is turned on with the PC 'on'?
If it does then this would point to a problem relating to the gfx card and the monitor itself.
Otherwise what gfx card do you own, because if it is a high end gfx card, then your power supply is too small to support it. Just to check that your PC is booting correctly, remove your gfx card and plug the monitor into the VGA port on your mobo and check to see that the computer is booting normally. IF it doesn't, then it would point to a motherboard issue.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

I might ask Stymie to move it...

As the title suggests i am having major problems with Norton's Auto-Protect feature. For some reason it continually turns itself off by showing the following message box: "Auto-Protect experienced an unexpected error..." This has happened many times now, 15+ and is rather annoying to find out that software you pay good money for is failing to do what it is meant to do. I have found that the tech support on their site is of no help to me with the 'tool' it uses to fix the problem. Restarting the computer fixes the issue but it then comes back another day. So does anyone know how this problem can be defiantly fixed?

Thanks.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Check that when you press shutdown the option is not set to Hibernate. Also check the user manual for a hardware shutdown, normally involves pressing and holding down the power button to do a manual hardware shutdown. Hold down the button for around 10 seconds, it may take longer.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

So off topic you are :P :D

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

This one would seem to be a pretty good video card all round

Otherwise such through different websites/high-street store to find the offer right for you. Look for 512Mb of on-board memory as a must if you want to play games of the future.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

First off what GFX (GFX = graphics card = video card) slot you have in your computer? This is either PCI-express x16 OR AGP.
This is crucial to know because they have a different slot and they have a different set up.
Otherwise all cards of that type (either AGP or PCI-express x16) will work with your computer as long as you install the drivers for that video card. I would personally go for an ATi card, because i know about them the most and i have never used an Nvidia product. But i would shop around the internet and high-street stores seeing as prices for cards vary massively.
Also seeing as you don't currently own Vista you can't run any GFX card that has DirectX.10. So i would advise going for a card with 512Mb of VRAM as on-board memory, if you do want to upgrade to Vista then go for a DirectX.10 one, so that you can run Vista. Also for increasing the gaming experience, for Bioshock especially, that game is very high-end graphics and is probably better off with a Duel Core processor of some sort. Your RAM amount is fine. Also another thing to consider is the size of your PSU (power supply unit) if the wattage (W) of your PSU is too low then it will struggle to run a high end graphics card.
Anyways here is a place to start of your search for a new graphics card

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

The thing i would test straight away is that the CPU is not overheating and has burned out. Check around the large heatsink (usually with a large fan on top). If the chip underneath the heatsink looks damaged or slightly burned that is your problem there. If your problem is not that check that every cable connects fully to the right place. Often when changing some components, cables can get in the way so you may have unplugged a fan and not plugged it back in, possible relating back to an overheat issue. So my advice would be check every cable that it is connected to the correct place in case any have fallen out. Also turn on your monitor. Does the monitor display a "no signal" related message when the computer is off and the monitor is on? If not that may point to a monitor/GFX issue.
I would check what i have said first, then post back with what you have found out.
There is nothing wrong with putting a computer on a carpet as long as the computer case is grounded, i.e. connected something that has no charge. Putting a computer onto a wooden table/desk would be the best because it is at eye level and won't hurt your back when bending over it on the floor.
Hope that helps!

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Right well at least that is all cleared up..........
Accept one thing, why Bennet do you have to copy what i do first! grrrr:@

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

I have seen some university's accept DMM (distinction, merit, merit) for some computing related course's. I personally don't think my one is that hard, first year was easy and fun, second year is a bit more difficult, and i'm missing lessons which is always bad (flu and fevers) so i really need to catch up.
Also btw yes bennet i am alive :P , and why are you 'shooting' what appears to be an AK?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Yes we really do need the "0x000000##" ## is specific to each problem in most cases. So easiest way to find that out, is to jot the numbers down when it goes into a BSOD or take a picture and get the numbers from that.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

"The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused by caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile." supplied by this great site: http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm
Now that jargon points to faulty RAM as a possible issue along with the possibility of bad drivers in your system.
So update any drivers you have such as GFX drivers being the most common, also try the technique of taking out both RAM sticks, and putting them back in, one at a time to see which one is bad or that a faulty slot is too blame.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Check that you have the fans blowing out air or sucking air in as required This can take the cooling away instead of giving it to the components.

I believe the digest was the August edition detailing 6 Moderator positions have gone. So I wonder who else is gunna pluck up the challenge and join me to becoming a mod :P

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

From reading a digest a while ago showing the multitude of moderators hanging up the big 'M' hat, i e-mailed dani saying "oo can i have a go?" obviously in a higher intalect than that, but with that general message. Dani then kindly PMed me back saying something along the lines of "We are looking through our forums to look for a gap if anyone could fit into. This make take some time..." Words to that effect.
Now in this months digest crunchie put in his lovely bio:

"On saying that, I notice there has still been no-one appointed to the position and would be willing to undertake the modship again sometime."

I would like to make my position clear,
I would like to be a moderator.

Thanks, Serunson

mmm, are you sure that your graphics card is complient with what it says on the back of the gamebox? Some games require certain gfx cards otherwise they wont run.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

If you are overclocking your CPU, make sure you have ample cooling in the machine otherwise the CPU starts to burn and everything stops working. Does the computer boot at all? Does the monitor display a message similar to "No Signal"?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

If tunebite is causing such problems for you, yet none for Boulder, then i would suggest re-installing the software as a good step to try, to see if that would stop the problems that you get.
