mmm indeed
What Antivirus do you run?
What you really should do is to get it into Safe Mode, login as you would then run the system scan for whatever anti-virus programme you run. Then once it has scanned your entire system see if has found any nasties. Delete the nasties using the AV programme, then reboot and see what happens. If it continues post back.

Has it only happened one time or does it now always happen when you boot up the laptop?

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

Oh well, all cars show both on the dials. Modern day cars that is, old cars didn't have speedo's!

From the site that i use to diagnose problems:
Typically due to a bad driver, or faulty or incompatible hardware or software.
Have you changed any drivers for anything recently? Such as a graphics card driver, or have you added any hardware recently?
I think your problem could be down to not having the right driver for the phone installed. Can you get into the computer via Safe Mode? Tap F8 when laptop starting up.

What company supplies your internet? If it's BT then that's the problem. BT cut down a lot on some Torrents.

From your attachment you can use the following RAM types:
DDR PC2700
DDR PC3200
DDR PC4000
You are currently using DDR PC3200 in two of the four slots available. Seeing as you have the same RAM type as me, when i upgraded my RAM i jumped from 512Mb up to 2 Gb buy just buying two 1Gb sticks, and replacing the existing two 256Mb ones. As long as you get one of the three types of RAM i mentioned, your computer will benefit immensely. Also changing RAM over is a simple job. If you want details on changing over RAM do post back.

Have you installed any new device drivers recently. Such as for a graphics card or some piece of other Hardware?
Have you reinstalled anything by Roxio? It normally comes as standard on some laptops/computers?
Also have you had a Virus or any other nasty recently? What Anti-Virus program do you run? e.g. Norton, AVG etc.

Not the right bit :P
If you look to the far left of the screen it will have 4 banks showing in a formation of 2 at the top of the box and 2 just below them. The 2 at the top will have 512Mb in them each, underneath the two that have 512Mb written in them see the attached picture if you don't understand what i mean.
The part circled is the part that we need to know!

Thanks, sorry for the confusion :)

Well i tried it out the removal tool yesterday, but it took hours to remove Norton GoBack, so today is the day that i try it out. I'll post back later on today if fully uninstalling and reinstalling works.

Going back to the question at hand, i doubt the planets lining up would cause the magnetic poles of the earth to move. There would have to be an extremely powerful event to cause that to happen. But the planets moving into a line would be a field day for astronomers, but i just can't see the world panic-ing over a calender that stops in 2012. Scarily enough in 2012, the last place in England (South East & London region) turns over to digital TV. So that could be the issue that the Mayans where predicting....

In addition to the previous program posted, you can also try this:
http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/loader.aspx?Agree=Yes
Crucial offer all kinds of RAM at good prices, and their scan system programme helped me when i upgraded my RAM from 512Mb to 2Gb.
For running the QuickScan application, download the application from the link above, then run it. It will then open up your browser and tell you the results. On the left hand side, check under the Specifications heading and it will say how many slots you have, and what you have in the slots if anything. Under the slots that have RAM in them, it will say what type of RAM it is.
E.g. DDR PC3200.
Then if you want to buy the upgrades from Crucial, they show you varying options that you could buy. Or you can take this information with you, and buy the RAM elsewhere.

If your computer has AGP slot it may look like this:

Colours may vary from brown to white to black.

Edit: AGP slots are always set off more away from the motherboard than normal PCI and PCI Express slots.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

I only run a single X1600XT Radeon, it does the job better than the previous one, so i happy. And i got it at a reasonable price. Bargain.

Serunson 413 Posting Maven

The easiest way to find out, is to open up the case of your PC, find the gfx card (look for where your monitor plugs into the back of the case) Then look for tiny writing along the side of the gfx card on the motherboard. If it is PCI it would say "PCI EXPRESS x16". If it does not say that then you are looking at an AGP slot. When did you get this computer? PCI-Express is now the norm for most computers.

I would uninstall the drivers, and see how it goes from there.
Do you plug in the MP3 player (like a memory stick) or does it have a USB cable that connects your MP3 player with the computer?
Because maybe the cable is broken, it can happen occasionally.

I guess it could work, having three or four monitors. But you would need some sort of software to send the right part of the desktop to the right monitor.
That i think would be your greatest challenge in setting it up.

Currently i am looking for a Wireless router with a Desktop USB adapter or a wireless PCI card to go with the router.
What i am looking for is something under £100 (around about $200) that works well for gaming, general surfing of the internet and the occasional download of various files sizes.
What would you experts recommend for a BT 2.2Mbps connection speed.
I would be running a desktop XP Home SP2 computer and a XP pro Laptop off of this network. What would be your recommendations?
Apparently Linksys are good (according to Bennet that is)
So does anyone know of a good wireless router?

Thanks in advance

Yeah, normally a single better card with more things that come with it is better than two lower cards with less options, trying to be as good as the card with more options.

Back to the issue at hand,
Legal immigration is fine, in small doses. In England we have a large work force of Polish people, i have nothing against them at all, seeing as most of them are plumbers, electricians etc.
But the most bizarre place is Leicester in England. It is the only place in Britain where the British nationals are out-populated by immigrants :D

What amount of RAM did you upgrade from?
If it was 2Gb and you have placed in another 1Gb, XP doesn't show it because it can't!
It's a funny issue that i am not to clear on myself.
Are you checking the 'control panel -> system' link to see the amount of RAM?

ATi and Nvidia are fairly even in price to be honest, but i would go for ATi purely because i have used their products more and i know what the software/hardware can/cant do.
