While there are many discussions about The Dead PC (google that) the basics remain that you reduce the parts count to bare minimum. For beeps (if your motherboard does the beeps) you don't need a case, RAM, video card, drives or all the fans. I get beeps on boards that do beep with just the PSU, motherboard, CPU, HSF (heatsink and fan) and the speaker.

If these few parts don't beep I'm looking at the bad or misconfigured parts.

I'll repeat. LESS PARTS. NO CASE. Use the motherboard cardboard box to hold and insulate the motherboard for the test.

My view is that you need to develop a stack. You'll learn to deal with more than one language or you won't be able to move from language to language over time.

My stack is from Microcode to a few high level languages.

I researched this a bit with "a cube in javafx that have 6 different textures on each side of the cube" using the usual search engine and it appears that there are a lot of prior discussions but you want "6 different textures on each side" which to me reads as one side would have 6 textures and since a cube has 6 sides you have some 36 textures overall. To get to that you would create your image that has those 6 textures for each of the 6 sides then all that image to the side of choice.

Remember that given all the prior work on such an assignment (do tell if this is your homework assignment) I won't get into the actual code.

Vin vin commented: this is not a homework assignment, and btw, I like to have 6 textures on 6 sides of a cube. +1

That would be news to me regarding disabling Windows File Explorer. All the folk I know installed another file explorer. Not sure if disabling WFE is a good idea.

This is a common complaint about Windows File Explorer compared to Windows before 10. It's time to find other file browsers. There are too many out there so I can't test them for you to see if what you want is supported.

Can you share a link to where you get Code Blocks so I can check out if there is a tutorial for first timers?

Time to talk to the chain's IT department about an UTM (Unified Threat Management) device. I may be dated on this but names like Fortinet, Cyberoam (now Sophos), DELL Sonicwall come to mind. I do not offer support for these so your IT should draw up the usual RFQ or implement as they see fit.

If I compiled this with say GCC and the usual optimizer settings those lines 5, 6 and 7 would vanish along with method so the variable num would never exist at runtime. So there is no num so there is nothing being referred to in this example.

  1. You called out the target. Good.
  2. Where's your code so far?
  3. I need to use video memory to print out this with 01’s

I have to write "No you won't be doing that."

Why? Because of the amount of work to find out the video card in this 808x machine such as Hercules, VGA, etcs and where the video memory is and what bytes to change there to get text on screen. It's far too much to assign in a classrooom so my bet is you should use the old BIOS calls from 1983 or there abouts. Such is documented on the web so here's our good source Rosettacode.org with an 8086 HELLO WORLD which outputs text using a BIOS call.

Regarding the device width change willy nilly. One of my favorite tools is VirtualBox so it is possible for it to change the device width. You can imagine it can really stress out apps and drivers when you do that.

This makes me recall something someone wrote about programming when every case is an edge case.

Everytime I hear about AI you dig into it and it's machine learning which is being sold as "AI." I worked on "smart" systems in the 80's so I tend to stick with AI being what it was called then.

Let's hope someone uses their system and answers here but my bet is you'll have to use a Reddit or some other place to find ezoic users.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Interesting reviews on this. But they are 25 miles from my door here but from what I read they have some upfront requirements and from what I read, their machine learning robot runs your site. As to Javascript they replied last year:

Our service requires that all publishers meet certain standards and requirements prior to going live with Ezoic. This includes traffic requirements; which with small websites we will often require Google Analytics data to be shared.

Additionally, our team discourages the JS implementation because it is not as effective and can slow down sites (we want all of users to have good experiences so it is strongly discouraged). It is only an option for sites that do not have access to their DNS records.

I'd use the old phone system and call them up if I wanted to know more.

That's a poor explanation of what may be someone's homework. One could fulfill this by printing the arrow then the random value.

Besides that, where's your code and where are you stuck?

I rarely see anyone write your code for you. Maybe some psuedocode but no more unless it's to fix a stubborn line that just eludes us.

PS. I see your topic title mentions "assembly" but for which CPU? I think I've written assembly code for over 20 processors over the years. Not that it will help here but there are now virtual assembler systems as well as real ones. CALL OUT WHICH SYSTEM YOU ARE TARGETING. Some use serial ports for text i/o or on x86 make BIOS calls and then for the really adventurous there's assembly on an Android platform.

Companies that expect interns to be fully fledged experts and ready to go to work are to be treated as you see fit.

From the dictionary: Intern: "a student or trainee who works, sometimes without pay, at a trade or occupation in order to gain work experience."

That does not mean you show up without any skills but with the basics and if you are missing something, the job provides a mentor or a class on that area. If the company calls it an internship and then demands you be a full stack developer, run.

As to an article, here's a Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/comments/ag606e/i_went_from_learner_to_fullstack_developer_within/ worth reading. Close to self promotion but I don't expect an intern to be ready for the job. Intern? Yes.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator
  1. Internships. My view is this is "not a job." Do you need me to detail how internships used to be and how many companies are ripping off interns?
  2. Clustering. I supplied a current new article on the phenomenon. I noticed this a few years back and it's only gotten worse.

What this means is don't let it get you down that you don't get an internship if they are making demands as if you were a full-time normal hire. You are not, you are an intern.

Also, be prepared to move. Don't get stuck where you are.

Let's take a big old swipe or beat up software development while we are here.

Start with https://imgur.com/gallery/z2WkWhb

We have waterfall, Agile, Kanban, Scrum, Lean, and more. All these are in search of The Holy Grail. Not one has failed to deliver a never ending supply of jokes and failed projects. What many forget is it doesn't really matter which method you use, if you don't have a team with the skills you are going to have a bad day.

-> I bet there is a LASiK course on software development out there.

Our LASiK (Lean Agile Scrum is Kanban) course will train you in the latest mashup of the best software development systems known today. Our course directors have a vision. You too can share in this vision. (for only 20,000USD for our 5 weekend boot camp.)

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Wait, I thought you asked about internship. If it's a job, then yes they can expect you to have the knowledge. But "internship" means you have the basics but will learn on the job and grow into the work.

Don't get me started about internships that companies use in order to fill the ranks as if it was a slave ship.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

To the topic question: "Yes."

But I went about it another way. I wrote code BEYOND homework and over the years always had demos of my work on hand. I built up a portfolio of my works just like you do for art and film. This has become easier as we now have smart phones so instead of the hard portfolio my phone also has demos of my works.

So two more things.

  1. I'm amazed at many of today's grads or students that dismiss the portfolio concept. Maybe that's a good thing. Leaves more jobs for those that really put in the time and effort.
  2. Tech jobs in the USA are clumping into a few cities. Now you can get all entitled or accept this is what is happening. Some are getting discouraged over that but it is happening. Watch https://www.cbsnews.com/news/90-percent-of-tech-jobs-growth-concentrated-in-just-5-cities-according-to-brookings-institute-report/

You asked 10 questions but I must paint with a broad brush that you may not get your choice of work or have to wait till there are jobs in your area.

Then again, don't look at https://66.media.tumblr.com/9cdb3d6cd00142e8aba715e7d79f03b4/tumblr_p6kh16IoMf1u0glb4o1_1280.jpg

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I gave you the basic gist of the loop till exit.

{
    bool something = true;
    do {
       something = stuff(); // stuff() does stuff and returns false when done.
       }
   while ( something );
   return 0;
}

Tutorial: https://www.tutorialspoint.com/cplusplus/cpp_do_while_loop.htm

Sorry but this time I will not code it up and supply it running in an online compiler. You must develop those muscles.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As to not exit etc. menus and such that's basic logic. Example.

Something is true.
Do this while something is true.
Ask the user for input in "this" loop and if they want to exit, set something to false.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

And real code. Use this at https://www.tutorialspoint.com/compile_cpp_online.php

Example sin() code with results in 0 to about 100 integers.

#include <iostream>
#include <math.h>

using namespace std;

int main()
{
    cout << "Hello sin()" << endl;
    float angle = 0.0;
    int maxscale = 100;
    for (angle = 0.00; angle < 3.14; angle += 0.01) {
    cout << int(maxscale * sin(angle)) << endl;
}
   return 0;
}

Let's get back to basics here. Imagine if the output of sin() is as noted at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/c-runtime-library/reference/sin-sinf-sinl?view=vs-2019

So the return value of sin(n) is a float from 0.0 to 1.0. If you treat it as an integer then for only one value it might get you a value of 1 but all other values will be zero.

The examples are the link I supplied in this reply work fine. But let's say you need some integer values,

In psuedo-code but again we need floating numbers:

float angle = 0.0;
int maxscale = 100;
for (angle = 0.00; angle < 3.14; angle += 0.01) {
    cout << sin(angle) * maxscale << endl;
}
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I can't guess which compiler, IDE or such but usually we use a modern one so we know the line that has the error and can examine values.

All that aside, think again what sin() returns. Since you declared all to be integers, maybe you skipped what an integer is?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

What error? Also, I can't guess if there is something about your c++ compiler and conversions between int and floats. So I'll have to leave it here as, you are using ints and the result of sin() is what? (You tell me because I want you to learn this area as it will be something you deal with for a very long time.)

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Not really. You declared integers. So for all cases in the loop, the result looks to be zero. May have to think about how to scale that up.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Since you didn't have a sine function, why would you expect a sine wave?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

That would be in psuedo code about 2 lines of code.

for (float x = 0.00; x < 1.00; x += 0.01) {
    cout << sin(x) << endl;
}

Adjust 1.00 and step value as required.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'll take this is a task and not homework. So my research would be as follows.

  1. https://www.google.com/search?q=write+ppm+file+c%2B%2B
  2. From 1, I see a favorite site ROSETTACODE. That's https://rosettacode.org/wiki/Bitmap/Write_a_PPM_file
  3. I might skip a direct write to PPM and consider scripting my data to GNUPLOT which would open the door to a lot more options.

Again, I take this is not homework so we can use other solutions and code from the web.

Line 11 looks odd to me. I used the following to test and it appears to do exactly as you coded, not as you asked above. Why did you i += START?

import java.util.Scanner; // Import the Scanner class
public class MyClass
{
    public static void main(String[] args)
    {
        final int STOP = 500;
        //int NUMBER_PER_LINE = 10;
        Scanner val = new Scanner(System.in);
        System.out.println("Enter your value ");
        int START =val.nextInt();
        int counter = 10;
        for(int i = START; i <= STOP; i +=START)
        {
          System.out.print(i + "  ");
          if(i % counter == 0)
             System.out.println();
        }
        val.close();
    }
}

Tested at https://www.jdoodle.com/online-java-compiler/

Again, I didn't fix your code. Just wanted to test what you had and well, what's the thinking about your line with the += statement?

Evil person now takes that and makes an version that keylogs and sends files from the system to some other place.
Evil persons make fake web sites claiming we have the real Opera for download or "version 65 - Newest out today!"

I feel this is far off topic but it's a real problem out there.

With py files being text what stops me from editing the app and showing what these variables are?

This is why I thought you could compile, and maybe do work in hiding the variables, XOR, and more with Pyarmor.

If you give up the source, where is this secure?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

"Bamboozled again."

At some point the code has to exist somewhere. Let's say you distribute your .pyc files for others to run, they decompile, add prints and more?

  1. Security is an illusion?
  2. Now to fix this, make a a software as a service? (SAAS!)
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As a test, take your .pyc and decompile it to see if your work at hiding the value is exposed with a decompiler.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/decompyle/

This is why, if there is a secret number or string we can't just assign it to anything directly.

IOW, I don't know how deeply you think about all this but variables with secrets are dangerous as they live for a time where as something transitory will be short lived and not in long term memory. I'm a season microprocessor user (think embedded micros) so back to thinking about how to keep the secrets from being used for a variable directly is one thing then another is if said secret is used to make a system API call which can be exposed with most debuggers.

This rabbit hole goes deep.
