To me this sounds like your PC rebooted. This is not a little problem. I find when folk label things "a little problem" they want it to be a setting or a driver. Given the details it would be a miracle that someone can give an answer to fix this PC.

Try adding details. How about a Speccy report along with the PC's make, model, age, story about how you keep the heatsinks and fans clean and working along with the make, model of the PSU (power supply unit.)

Also, do you do your own PC repairs. It won't do any good to tell you a part to try changing if you don't do your own work.
Here's how to share the Web Speccy Report -> https://www.piriform.com/docs/speccy/using-speccy/publishing-a-speccy-profile-to-the-web

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Usually a sign of a dead card. There are now numerous pages about this on the web so it's unlikely there is any new ways to get what you didn't backup back short of recovery houses. But do try this in other PCs and especially ones that run Linux.

Once in a while a client/person will push back against this advice and all I can say is they are not helping themselves (in respect to trying and no backups.)

-> Face it folk. We only lose what we don't backup.

Remember that this must be your app and code. Asking for help decompiling other than your code and apps is like "Help me jack this car."

I can't guess what you need to do. But I do consider the question about decompiling answered. There are more discussions about it but the entire reason to protect is well, do we need to go over that?

Also, a discussion about how such protection works would be on its own AFTER we note prior discussions on that subject. That is, once in a while folk ask a common question and while I know a bit about the subject I see I have little to add about it. What the member may be asking is for a class or tutorial to take them from what they know to a higher skill level. And that is rarely done. You can ask but in this topic of decompiling, it may take years to get to the skill level to alter an app that the source code is lost.

Let's say the source is lost. We assume it was your app so a rewrite is likely to be faster than the first time.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I have to answer yes. I don't know your skill level or what you know about byte code systems but the protection is usually by obfuscation. That is, the decompiled result will look nothing like the source and may be too much for those that are not into this sort of work.

So again. Decompilers do work but the protections make the outputs hard to impossible to read. Especially if it's not your code.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I think this isn't a bad question or topic but it's like you asked for everything. That might get you a very unclear answer.

So there are so many choices to make today that I hesitate to tell you any specific tool since nothing would do this on the first outing. And what you ultimately choose may depend on your web hosting choice.

Why not start off slowly? That is, get a web server up (this alone might take you a few months) and then make a page with a map on it. At that point you might have a way to assess how many years you have to put into this.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@T, I'm thinking about a PSA about DNS (that's public service announcement and Domain Name System) since I think I see ISPs (Internet Service Provider) slowing down their DNS or outright hijacking lookups.

You may want to google DNSBENCH and consider changing.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I see you already have a sig. So looking at your deleted post, you spammed. Keep those signatures clean of the spam as well.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

It's still good for other things like high speed usb to video cards.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Ask the laptop maker. In your posts you never shared the maker's site or link to what model you have so it's best to talk to the maker's support now.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

You asked about some USB to VGA adapter cable but didn't supply the link. That said there has never been a "cable" that adapts USB to VGA without some circuitry but there are scammers that will sell under 10 dollar cables that don't work. Only the new or foolish buy these. Sorry if you feel slighted by me writing that.

I never could find your laptop model so if you want this many monitors the solutions are USB to video convertors which are mildly priced to some USB 3.x to Display Port which will only require one adapter for many displays. The downside is speed but for stock charting, excel and such will be fine.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This seems to be a rehash of https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/hardware/threads/516307/add-two-external-monitors

If your laptop has Display Port via its USB C port you don't need USB Display cards.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

First, Thunderbird has it's own forum. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/get-community-support which is fine you can ask anywhere you wish.

Second, setup is no longer "simple." Read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1201406 and if you are like most you may need a bottle of aspirin.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@PM312. I'm not Unitek's support or sales department. If they can't answer your pre-sales support question, why buy that at all?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@SN_1. So it's only 4GB RAM. What's to complain about? Here my complaint is I don't have the Speccy report to look at. Help others help you?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I would have to guess what displays but if these are DisplayPort monitors with in and out, then https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Supporting-Resolution/dp/B018YHTUNI/ is worth a look. This way you only need one adapter.

Again, I really wanted to check out your laptop for DisplayPort as it would easily(?) solve more than one external display and only use one cable to the laptop.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Sorry but that I can't do. I had hoped you would supply a link to the model but I can't find that. I have yet to find any tests for "best performing" so I can't do that either. I'd stick with USB 3.0 video cards from best sellers on newegg or amazon.

If you do supply a working link to your exact model at Lenovo I will check it out to see if you can avoid USB video cards.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

How about a link to that model at Lenovo. I didn't find it so I can't check the ports available. But at this point you know so my bet is the USB video cards are required. These are a little slow so no games. OK for Word, Excel, etc.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

A 3 port switch would not replicate HDMI output nor let us show content on more than one display at a time.

It's a shame I can't decode which 320 you have. Some have DISPLAY PORT which you can daisy chain DISPLAY PORT monitors.

But as it stands you are likely going to have to buy some USB to HDMI video cards.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'm running into a problem on such machines too often. Can you supply me the SMART VALUE 01 from a Speccy report for all drives?
If that value is zero then what's next is the full Web Speccy report so to avoid so many questions. Here's how:
https://www.piriform.com/docs/speccy/using-speccy/publishing-a-speccy-profile-to-the-web

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Shyne-1, most folk when they want more than 1 monitor want each monitor to have each display showing unique content. REPLICATORS don't do this. Be sure to tell all about this replicator since folk new to this will run out and buy such and then be very upset at the advice.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

PS. The Intel 4000 might work. Links follow.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025671/graphics-drivers.html

BUT I find folk today struggle to install Intel's own drivers or can't find the controls.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Many Intel Graphics just can NOT support more than one external display. This is most likely why you can't do this.

To get to 3 you need to look for USB to HDMI or such USB External Video Cards.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

So why is line 179 assigning 1 to option? Same for other lines.

As to all the else if's, uncalled for. No need for else if. Just if's.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Why bother with else if's? First review https://www.tutorialspoint.com/cprogramming/if_else_statement_in_c.htm

Now why bother stating else if at all? Just clean it up.

Also, why on line 179 do you assign 1 to your variable option? Everyone is new at times so in short, single equal sign is assignment and double equal sign, well as a pop quiz, you tell me.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Ahh, the blank sheet of paper. That's pretty hard to fill in. Sorry but Java doesn't matter yet. You need to pick your sensor and then find a way to get that connected. There's a lot of choices today from Bluetooth and other wireless links.

Bluetooth at 50 feet is a stretch so will Ethernet or WiFi do? That way you can think about Rasberry Pi boards and the way too many sensor boards there. Once you think you have your sensor picked out then you code up your Pi board to be a sensor via your LAN (big nod to IoT.)

https://www.google.com/search?q=Proximity+sensor+boards+for+Rasberry+Pi for example.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Hello J,

Now I'm an old embedded hardware and software author so I'd have to know more about your design to offer more.

Also, read https://www.daniweb.com/programming/threads/435023/read-this-before-posting-a-question so you make the best posts you can.

Let's hear more about the targets (the tablet? boards? prox sensors?)

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Be sure to show your work so far and tell where you are stuck.

Read https://www.daniweb.com/programming/threads/435023/read-this-before-posting-a-question to see how to work with the forum.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This will take a lot more code. Here's what you would have to do. Get the page into a local file so the fetch is local rather than from the Internet. This way there is no downside to the rotate. Frankly for the amount of work you have to put into this, you have to ask if it's worth the effort.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

At this point I worry that you are the point of nothing works in php+pdo. That is, I can't guess why the private and such were necessary at this point so my question is there more to this story. Like this is the first time this machine has been setup and tested with this system?

Also, what happens if you used programming examples with as few changes as possible?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

OK, what about line 32. "$this->PDO". Why that instead or just $this?
Example? See my first link.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@kennyL. To see if there are any other clues, let's see your other posts on this. The URLs to your other discussions would be nice to see what others are thinking.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

That line 37. Remember I'm no PHP guru so I'm going to ask why that backslash is there.
Examples I read such as http://www.yudiz.com/mysql-vs-mysqli-vs-pdo/ don't show this.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'm not seeing the cause in the above here. I see why we would want to get into shared code/projects as I read
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/xamarin/cross-platform/app-fundamentals/shared-projects?tabs=vsmac
but if it's creating issues that can't be tamed, why not old fashioned ways?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

So there is more to the error message. If you are missing some .h file you have to add that. Also, the link does make other suggestions. As I noted, the code above does not lead me to any suggestion on its own other than to work on your discussion by adding details and sharing what work you've done.

As it stands, add the missing include and do what the article I linked to above.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This is more advice about posting. Be sure to tag with your version of Visual Studio and reveal if you alread did research. The first hit on Google is https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d7fz9ckx.aspx so I'm going with you know to do such research and try findings like this.

The code above does not lead me to why you have this error. Visual Studio version may differ here.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

There's probable a Reddit for that. -> https://www.reddit.com/r/androidapps/comments/627zrl/can_you_guys_advice_me_a_good_ebook_reader/

I tried Lithium and didn't see and adverts.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

So that just changes my search to multiple operator precedence calculator in c++ windows source or
https://www.google.com/search?q=multiple+operator+precedence+calculator+in+c%2B%2B+windows+source

The first hit is interesting since it writes "uses the same operator precedence and associativity as the C++ programming language" which has that going for it.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Be aware this is a well done app. https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+c%2B%2B+calculator+source+code finds both source and tutorials.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ryzen-linux-10way&num=7 seems to be a recent benchmark of Linux on Ryzen and Threadrippers.

There are (today) three Intel builds at PCMR.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Ahh, gaming taps more than the CPU. My current fav build is kind of a monster. It's the usual i7, 16GB RAM, 1050 or better GPU and no hard disks. SSD has come way down in price so I usually pop in the 512GB SSD. These machines fly.

As to the GPU choice, see what Linux heads are writing about AMD or Nvidia. But if I were to build on a budget I'm back to PCMR builds.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Something else would still have me update the BIOS then setup BIOS and then the OS. This isn't really a new thing but with Ryzens the BIOS can matter. It's a minor bit of work that I always get done before I commit to using it long term (regardless of CPU choice.)

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

About Ryzen builds. Be sure the BIOS is up to date before you commit to the OS install that you are going to run for a long time. That is, update the BIOS per the maker. If that requires some OS installed then my choice to isntall the OS, update and then wipe out and then setup the BIOS to my choices.

My choices are ofter factory BIOS defaults with as few changes as required. This makes it easy if the CMOS battery ever dies. I can't count how many times a builder required the BIOS to be just so for the OS to boot. No need to damn the user years later.

So once the BIOS is up to date and setup, then I can go about my OS setup.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As to socket and chipset. I rarely find any gain in choosign chipsets but as you can guess, the socket, chipset and BIOS must list the CPU you choose.

That is, the motherboard maker will have a page about compatible CPUs for the board we are looking at.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Sure. Here's a google so you can pick which you like best.
https://www.google.com/search?q=windows+10+reset

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I have to go with "I wouldn't do that." If I were to pick only boards with more than the usual 4 or so ports my choices get slim or expensive.

Most folk pick a CPU then the board to support the CPU choice. I don't know the goals but that many drives doesn't mean more CPU power. Nod to "Amdahl tried to quantify the characteristics of a well balanced computer in three “laws”."

In your case you elected to find 8 or more SATA ports so you find those then see where the chips fall.

Have you seen this video about coin mining using dozens of drives?
Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJ4ea5NNqcg
Off topic but there are machines for holding dozens of drives today.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

OK, here's the deep dive on how all this works. Keep this link handy as I bet you'll have to go back from time to time.

https://medium.com/@damko/a-simple-humble-but-comprehensive-guide-to-xkb-for-linux-6f1ad5e13450

I'd start small with just one change for the key you want to alter or add, then fix the rest one by one.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

You had me till that many SATA ports. I think you should use some PCIe board for more ports if need be.

About shopping boards, the socket changes with your CPU selection (most of the time)

USB 3 ports so far support all my USB 1.x and 2.x devices.

If I were to build today I would not create a new combination. I'd steal designs from PCMR at https://www.reddit.com/r/PCMasterRace/wiki/builds

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Slow down. Windows 10 has a menu pick where you can factory reset the machine and save yourself from driver hell.

I'd do that first.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Hi Lewashby, I was pleasantly surprised a while back that I could plug in two keyboards via USB and both worked. Sitll had to select a keyboard layout but hey, progress.

To edit the existing keyboard layout I think we'll have to get into the exact OS in use. But I'm sure folk have written much on editing layouts or creating one from new (which I think would be a pain.)

Maybe you could use some old fashioned idea like a macro for the hard to get to characters?
