No one died when Clinton lied.
Sorry sight that rhyme implied.
Has the time finally arrived,
When we must to that poor mentality be subscribed?
Glutton for pleasure, this Clinton was
At the eve of the September attack.
Some may say how lucky the man was
When the strike came, it was not his watch.
Others may feel, it ain't right not to cash
What he helped and allowed to be set up.
In his legacy perhaps a tiny stain
Regardless, skeptic I must remain.
For what form of luck can be bestowed,
that compensate for such a large nose?

As the subject line says, I am playing with old tech. I want to use my palm as an mp3 player and am looking for a program that works on it. So far the only one that works on it is Real Player but I refuse to allow that spyware king on my machines - it requires that I have RP on my pc to load music to my palm. I have tried a couple of proggies I found at palmfreeware and I am even willing to pay money for one that works - I dl-ed free-trial prog but I can't get it to work.

Any suggestions?

I ran into a similar problem except it is with AVG anti-virus - I think it is a timing issue, the check for a firewall happens before the firewall activates.

GrimJack 1,414 Posting Maven Featured Poster

The problem is not necessarily that the E-card you send contains a virus but that you set up the recipients to open E-cards that could be infected especially with spoofing so common.

So -- the E-cards you send could contain unwanted active-x commands, spyware or virii; your friends and family could be set up to open infected E-cards - is it worth it?

Only you can answer that.

Oooh! The M14, I could place 5 of 8 in the inner ring at 1000 meters - I did not know they were still in use. I loved that weapon! but humping the ammo was always my complaint. Just as I was getting out they were introducing the M16, which I only got to live fire a couple times and never learned to field-strip. Thanks, I did not realize they kept the M14, I just assumed they discarded the M14 for the M16 and the 1911-1a for the 9mil. Obviously, keeping up with the military is not one of my hobbies.

@ grimjack. interesting. i did not realise. but i am talking from an economic point of view.

still if omega fatty acid ratios in america is a legal issue or if people are aware enough to demand then of course the economic point is invalid since grain raised cattle and poultry simply wont sell. but i first have to look at it. but it will have to wait. i am struggling with a maliciously killing project. you cant perhaps give any links can you?

The economics of the situation is pretty controversial for a variety of reasons:

1)cattle feeding
2)Grass fed
The Omega 3/6 ratios are not a legal issue and are not usually considered when determining economic outcomes but what is a heart attack worth?
3)Omega 3/6 fatty acids
4)Omega balances
5)More ranting

Another economic benefit is that now local ranchers can start raising 'boutique' beef cattle that are purely grass-fed and hormone free - ie, organic cattle (heh, heh).

That's not true -- war boosts our economy. <<snip>>
So in purely economic sense war is good and we need more of it not less.

I know that you are joking but I am going to respond as if you weren't for those who don't see the joke.

"War boosts our economy" is an example of the 'Broken Window Fallacy' - imagine, if you will, 'a vandal throwing a brick through a shopkeeper's window. The shopkeeper will have to purchase a new window from a glass shop for a sum of money, say $250. A crowd of people who see the broken window decide that the broken window may have positive benefits:
After all, if windows were never broken, what would happen to the glass business? Then, of course, the thing is endless. The glazier will have $250 more to spend with other merchants, and these in turn will have $250 to spend with still other merchants, and so ad infinitum. The smashed window will go on providing money and employment in ever-widening circles. The logical conclusion from all this would be ... that the little hoodlum who threw the brick, far from being a public menace, was a public benefactor. (p. 23 - Hazlitt)The Broken Window Fallacy is enduring because of the difficulty of seeing what the shopkeeper would have done. We can see the gain that goes to the glass shop. We can see the new pane of glass in the front of the store. …

>> goats can....also look up overstocking

when i say herbivores i am of course refering to natural ecosystems. i know that if an idiot want to let a million sheep eat grass which was meant for a hundred then only disaster awaits.

<<clip>>

on a similar note. that is one thing that impress me about the americans. they have realized that natural ecosystems cannot effectively support livestock. so they are planting stacks and stacks of maize and feed them to the cattle.

good thinking. a better quality animal is produced with less problems and if you look at it; more economically as well.

Unfortunately, feeding maize to cattle is a problem. Cattle evolved to eat grass/hay, they have 4 stomaches that contain various organism needed to convert what they graze into food. When cattle are put on a corn/grain diet, things go wrong. The first thing that goes wrong is the normal E. coli found in the stomaches of most (if not all) mammals is not able to perform its normal function of producing Vitamin K and keeping pathogenic bacteria out of the intestine - the environment is changed enough that the nasty version of E. coli (serotype O157:H7) is able to gain a foothold in their guts and then increases the risk of contaminating the food supply. The simplest way to clear this up is to feed the cattle hay/grass for the last 24 hours before slaughter; this actually clears the stomaches. For some reason, most slaughterhouses refuse …

Also, I like to shoot handguns, especially large caliber ones.

I remember the good old days when I could just step out back and shoot! I have a .22 semi-auto rifle w/scope, a Winchester lever-action .3030 that I bought on lay-a-way the summer I turned 15, and a .357 magnum single-action revolver that my b.-in-l. gave me for Xmas years ago.

Er, I grew up in Montana - if that was not immediately obvious. I now live the big city of Seattle so I don't get to be quite so casual.

I have been kinda hoping to try one of those .50 cal handguns (the largest caliber hand-held I ever fired was an M-79 40mm grenade launcher - I count it cuz it is rifled and a real hoot to fire). But I think the M60 loaded with tracers every 10th was the most fun I ever had - and it is probably the only weapon still in use that I trained on

its the copy protection

you either have a) a blacklisted application installed (some .iso tools ad burning softwre)
b) your drive is not supported

my drive in my dell doesnt read COD4 or C&C3 so i had to buy a new one

Jbennet, I am not sure I understand:
a) blacklisted app - something related to the game? (btw - this happens for both fear and Crysis), or is this more general? .iso is an image file correct? I do have a couple of cd and dvd burning progs.

b) i played for quite a while before this started.

Inserted the following disks:
XP - found
A8V mb - found
airlink router disk - found
F.E.A.R. - light blink a lot - drive thinks it is empty
FarCry - found
Crysis - light blinks a lot - sucked up most of non-memory resources, Event Services says "The driver detected a controller error on \device\\cdrom0"
Unreal tournament - 2004 - lights - disk not found
FarCry - found (just to make sure)

Sigh! It does not want me wasting time playing games, I guess (or at least the games I want to play)

no PCI cards can run crysis - you would need a pci express one - doe your pc have pci express?

also crysis needs a very good pc and card, $120 wont be enough. you would be talking ~$300 - ~$500

I play Crysis just fine thank you. My MoBo is pci and my graphics card cost about $140. Granted getting a 8000 series would improve things a lot - I do get some stuttering when I am cloaked and in the middle of an NKA squad but I generally snipe (also, I don't play on-line -- I barely have enough time in my life for what I do now, I don't think I could handle learning team tactics). I am at the upper limit of what my machine can do -- I put it together to play half-life 2, then found FarCry and am now playing Crysis and F.E.A.R.

Hi, I have cable internet and laptops at home and need a new router. Someone has hacked into my home network and it could have been from my crappy Linksys router, and I want something as secure as possible because my ip address was used to send out threatening messages. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Someone had to have recently changed the password on my router since a few months ago it didn't have one and I was not concerned about it, and now I can't access it.

On the back of your LinkSys router is a factory reset button - use it; set a password. All routers are boxed identically, whether without a password or with a standard password - change that immediately. It does not matter what password you use except:
password
secret
linksys
admin
or any other 'cute' password.

If I were a hacker, I would scan for all the router brands I could find then try all the default passwords and I bet I would get into more than 50% of the routers I find. Turn off your routers broadcast and change the damn password to something you can see near your computer like Black&Tan, SilverSkull, TaiChiMaster, MyPassport - anything that triggers your memory but is not obvious. I had a friend with a BeanieBaby collection so when she changed her password she would bring out a trigger-beanie like WhiteUnicorn or BeanieFeverRippedMeOff.

I agree with Scru (how did that happen???) - it is not worth upgrading from XP to Vista. The up-grade can go wrong - and Vista will cost a couple hundred bucks; not all non-MS software will survive the conversion. Wait until you upgrade your laptop and the cost of vista will be hidden from you. At least wait until Service Pack 1 comes out.
