Your so called "unjustifiable punishments" are in retaliation to the barbaric attacks the extremists perpetrated in the first place. Tell me. Why did the people who perpetrated the attacks on London and in Mumbai do so? Did they undergo atrocities? If yes, why punish the innocent people who are just earning their daily livelihood? Because, as you say

the world wont listen to him or wont give him the justice he so wishes to see he simply wants to give "something back" to the perpetrators

That has got to be the lamest argument I have ever heard. Who gives them the right to kill others and destroy property just because he has been tormented? I'm all for justice. So let this terrorist find the people who did torment him and exact his revenge there. Leave innocents out of it. Because if this terrorist really believes that killing thousands of innocents will be worthwhile revenge, he deserves to be brought down...hard

Then again the victim is weak and the criminals are untouchables. So he will simply go for civilians.

If the victim is weak, as you say, how does that explain his guts to kill civilians and destroy property? Such a victim (if a terrorist can be called that) is not weak in the sense that he cannot avenge himself on his tormentors, he is a weakling and a coward, in every sense of the word, and deserves whatever punishment he gets. Killing innocent victims is not bravardo or a sign …

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

If the board is not beeping, even after removing the RAM sticks, it's possible the board is fried. However, try resetting the CMOS by removint the battery for upto 3 hours...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

And, if possible, upgrade your OS. ME is quite an outdated OS. Besides, MS has stopped supporting Win 98 and ME.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Your sysptoms indicate that the hard disk itself is faulty. Check it on another computer, and if it doesnt work there, return the HD for a new one.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I still think this to be a heating issue. Spontaneous PC reboots signify:

1. Overheating
2. Faulty RAM
3. Faulty mobo

We'll go step wise. If you can get the PC to run with a fan blowing air into it, without any probs, you know it's a heating issue. If not, see if you can get some known working ram modules and test them. If this doesn't work, make sure there is no dirt in the computer, esp at the contact points. To test your RAM, you can download memtest86 (google it). Let the program run overnight for best results. Try these steps and let us know.

Allright. Save the suggestion for when you next redesign the forums.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

To be honest, I kinda prefer Dave's suggestion..about alternating different shades of purple. Dani, how about trying that out?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

I just got a job. If my boss is a babe, I don't think I'll ever click on that link again...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

So what do you think we are working with right now.

It was just an suggestion and of course we know the diference between "quote" and "quoted by". ;)

No no..what I was saying was that where 'Quote in Quote' is involved, Dani could underline the phrase 'Quoted by: <username>'. That way it'll be easier to follow the QiQ. Wouldn't you agree?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

If I were to guess, your cloning software partitioned the 100 GB disk like the 60GB disk. I'd guess you have to delete all partitions on the disk and start from scratch. Only this time, run Windows setup and not the clone image you have. Also, use fdisk to delete the partitions, not Windows XP partitioning utility.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Wait a sec...are those two disks shown in DM actually ONE disk? How many disks do you have on your computer?

Could you upload a screen shot of what you see in Disk Management? It'll help me diagnose your problem better.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

yup. as long as your mobo has the SATA and IDE ports...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

You sure this is a board issue? I had a similar problem once..on entering the BIOS, top 30% of the screen would be blank and the remining screen would be garbled. Got the board and processor changed, no joy. Turned out the monitor was crapping out on me. Check your monitor...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

not too sure about lappies, but from what I've heard, if you can afford it, go for an Intel Centrino technology based system. Gives the best performance.

I wouldn't trust the intel thermal utility. Have had many experiences when it's reported the wrong temp. A BIOS fix is available, just don't know where (AMD fan here). Anyway, try running the computer with the case open and with a table fan blowing some air into the computer. If after doing this, the computer runs fine, get a better cabinet with better ventilation. Otherwise let us know and we'll go from there...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

How about simply underlining the word 'Quote:' and 'Quoted by: <username>" ?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

More details, please. We can't help you without complete details...

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Whoops, I didnt see that you'd already tried Disk Management. Does DM show your HD's capacity as 60 GB? if it does, you may need to delete ALL partitions on the disk.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Click Start>run, type diskmgmt.msc and press enter. Under Disk Management, Right-click an unallocated region of a basic disk, and then click New Partition, or right-click free space in an extended partition, and then click New Logical Drive.

In the New Partition wizard, click Next, click Primary partition, Extended partition, or Logical drive, and then follow the instructions on your screen.

If you need more help, get back to us.

In truth, I haven't been trolling the forums as much as I should lately. Given your post count, I could probably safely say that you haven't been reported, so you must be doing GREAT! :D

That's the kind of answer I live for...

T'was Wolfie....

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Generally, a board supports only one type of RAM -- DDR or DDr2. In such case, you have to use the type the board supports. The other type will not fit. However, some boards accept both DDR and DDR2. However, you can use only one type of RAM at a timee. Thats to say, you cant add one stick DDR RAM and another DDR2 stick with it. It should either be that all sticks are either DDR ror DDR2

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

So what can I say to her that'll make her push up my post count a bit?

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

Win XP-P, Win Server 2003, Enterprise, FC4, SUSE 10.1 (live). Occasionally, I boot off of my old QNX RTP CD. The Photon graphical environment was pretty slick.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

its also possible that the replated control panel extension (desk.cpl) is missing or corrupt. Try running System File Checker (sfc /scannow) to restore all missing/corrupt system files.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

No problem

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

When you reloaded the OS, did you reformat and then reinstall or did you just install over the existing installation? For top performance, you should regormat and reinstall the OS. Also install the latest drivers for all your hardware.

goldeagle2005 33 Finkus Stinkalotus Team Colleague

You can get a higher speed RAM stick of the same kind (DDR, DDR2) etc and run it in your system with absolutely no problems. However, the RAM will run at the highest possible speed supported by your board. So, if your board suppors 333MHz tops and you install a 400MHz stick, it'll run at 333MHz.
