I am created a few Ning groups in the past but not anymore and though it was nice to create them, the communities quickly died because members did not contribute content. So I wonder if this was a general problem and if those ning groups you joined experienced the same problem?

Though many sites have google analytics, there are others who use paid web analytical tools. Thus, if you used these paid toold, which one did you use and why? Did you find it useful or helpful? I personally dont like webTrends. It gives me mixed metrics.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I know others who have used that tool. I personally would not use such a service and unless I can personally go through every single member and send a DM myself. I like to keep that personal connection, even for business accounts. That's just me.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes, but I just heard yesterday that many rebate checks have to be paid back so you never ever know what extent government will take to expunge extra cents from tax payers. There is even a funny website dedicated to what Governor Patterson (NYS) would tax.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for bringing these issues up. It is a form of community violation and most of all, a violation of trust.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

What if the government taxed you to be on social media? Would it discourage you from using social media? I heard a similar thing about paying tax for email but I have not seen it. What do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have been using Webtrends to look for PPC success metrics and it sure could be a pain. Different parts of webtrends generate different results for the same period. Have anyone else experienced this?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Is there an easy or efficient way to convert Facebook Friends into Fans of a Facebook Page? Is there a facebook migration program or something? Or is it just the old fashion way of just asking each friend to become fans of a page?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Though not directly answering your question, I once reviewed analytics for a similar microsite started from a blogging platform and my advice, from an analytics perspective, is make sure that all the pages are properly tagged so when someone else is analyzing site performance, the microsites are properly assigned for. It can get messy if its not planned at this early stage.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

"Vintage"!!! OMG - I am getting old. I remember when AOL was the in thing to do.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for mentioning Digby. I never heard of them but I will definitely check it out and let you know. My overall question is, will people just stop using these accessories?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have two Mac Book Pros at home and I bought a netbook because I thought it be good to have a PC. It has crashed so many times it is a reminder on why I went Mac in the first place.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Oh that's a good one Marketing Rob. A good spit ball can poke you on the eye! ouch. :-)

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Very good point Jay. I think at my office, I am the only one who uses AOL.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Dealing with certain publishers, I came to realized that many publisher sites either say that their media player does not capture this information or do not want to release such information (perhaps since the stats are low and they dont want to lose the customer).

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Now I ask who doesn't benefit from social media? An example are some content sites that have not even added social bookmarking links on their sites.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Oh I was not aware of it. But Im glad Facebook has some regulation in place about spammers. I wonder if Myspace had a similar policy. I dont think they did because Myspace became very spammy.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Dont forget the word "social" from social media. You have to make yourself/company social by engaging with the other followers/fans. It cant be totally static.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

One possible explanation can be that the decision makers pushed for that certain day and then the developers created something but it was not in "perfect" shape. Its like being pushed for last minute report.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Let us know how Google Wave is. Do keep us posted. Thanks

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Well thanks for sharing. It be interesting to see a stat on the # of e-learners who actually finish the program.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Hi
Can you please explain what all of those names are? I am not familiar with any of them. Thanks

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Oh I like that!! Its true. The only people I know who use AOL are part of the older generation.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

True even though I have noticed that the majority of responses and threads started on LinkedIn groups were created by consultants and solo practitioners.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Those are interesting answers. I personally used Yahoo Answers to post a question on food and recipes and I was surprised to have received at least a dozen recipes by Foodies out there within a few minutes.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for sharing the stories. It does demonstrate to me that there is some form of enforcement on Facebook, even if its user generated.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I never heard of ClickEquations. I will check it out. Thanks

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I also read on a site that older generations use AOL but I strongly doubt Gen Y do.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks Jay for elucidating this important fact about these tools. Perhaps in the future these tools can increase the reach of measurement.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I do agree with you. Twitter - anything says anything about everything. LinkedIN - its all about increasing your professional reach. Since this is now intertwined, only time will tell how this will have its effect.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I never heard of Kenshoo. But I will see if Mashable have more information on all of these software. Thanks

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Also both twitter and Facebook serve different purposes - Twitter is good for telegraph style 140 character shout outs. Unlike Twitter, Facebook is good to announce other happenings of your life in a non-limited fashion via text or multi media. Also, think about it, younger generations live by their cells during class or mall time so twitter may be more appropriate for them.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I wonder if there are other tools out there similar to Kontagent that can measure Facebook or other social media initiatives rather than just measuring buzz.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

The power of social media 2.0 have demonstrated beyond personal and professional boundaries. Look at how international news that were ignored by major news outlet or at least local made international headlines. So I believe everyone benefits from social media in one way or another - either by media consumption or by generating new content.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read from a blog post about who benefits from social media? good question. I think it all depends on what is the goal and reach of your social media circle. For example, I might have a private Facebook page for personal yet be on many professional yahoo/LinkedIn groups. Thus, I have leveraging social media differently here. What about you?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

That is so true my highness. I only have used Answers.com when it came up on SERPS. Otherwise, I would not actively go there. Though I do go direct to Yahoo Answers when I am researching on something, anything. Then I always go to Wiki. Who can forget wiki???

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read on a blog that Answers.com is becoming one of the top visited sites. I would have thought it be Yahoo Answers. I also have used Cha Cha answers in the past. So Im wondering, do you use these sites, and if so, why?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

The shell life on some of the social media communities out there are very small, like twitter. Your tweet from an hour away is equivalent to last year's press release. Thus, I do believe that one has to adjust updating on social media based on the behavior of the community as a whole. Thus, this understanding will ultimately help improve traffic to your site using social media.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

As many of us know, joining a few professional meetups help increase our awareness of the business, network with other professionals, and just be in the know-how. So Im wondering, let's say you have an online community you want to increase awareness and new membership, would you use meetups? If yes or not, why or why not?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read a very interesting blog post on Pew Internet recent study about their most recent findings.

Insights:
Younger generations are moving towards Twitter
while Older Generations have embraced Facebook.

I am currently looking to boost up my Excel skills and noticed that there were many options out there. So I would like to invite the members to share where else do you go online as your resource for certain types of e-learning?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Have you posted a video online and wondered how people foudn the video, when during the video viewers stopped watching, and most of all, did the viewers liked the video? I know YouTube have a basic analytics reporting now but what other tools do you use to obtain such information regarding the video you posted on your blog or site?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Understanding visitors go beyond the click. Thus, I have seen a few toold out there that discuss on behavioral targeting and psychographics. I have used QuantCast to gain an understanding of the visitors' behavioral profile. But what else is out there? Do you know of any other tool other ther?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

As we all know, many vendors are jumping into creating a Facebook app or page for their business. Thus, one needs to measure success from a quantitative perspective. So I was curious when I read of Kontagent - a social anlaytics tool. I personally never heard of them before. Have you? I would post the link up but I dont want my post to be deleted. So let me know what you think of it?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just read on MediaPost about a study that found iPhone users are mean. I dont like that conclusion but it was probably based on the fact that iPhone users watch porno. Who knows? So what do you think?

Update: I should have bought the Asus with the old XP and not with Windows 7 since Windows 7 is still buggy, very buggy...

I read online that the unemployment rate for the month of October was at a high of 12%. Thus, I wonder if you have noticed an influx of activity, especially during the day time, during these times or a change of online behavior. I wonder post the link to that third party blog so this post wont get deleted.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Online research may have made it easier to recruit subjects and develop insights, but I do wonder which methods have worked best for you and your clients? Do you use surveys? Polls? or even rich banner ads with an integrated survey? What has been the CTR and success metrics?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

If you research BrandHacker last year's event featuring Facebook marketing people - you will find this info. Also, I strongly recommend you to visit the blog - webmetricsguru.com and search for brandhacker and facebook. Marshall, the blogger, chronicled this event and the fact about the pokes on his blog.

I personally would use such software for myself - I just have to look into the cost for the enterprise level. I have spent countless hours just scrubbing data and then realize the report is due in a few hours and Im panicking. A software that can minimize the data pulling and maximize data analysis is optimal.
