Why do you recommend to measure negatives? Im curious.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

From an analytics perspective, will the tags associated with each article help drive traffic to the site?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Make sure you optimize the site as much as possible for content and keywords so your site can be found by the search engine crawlers.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Wow, that is a good list. Thanks. I will also add using quantcast to get a glimpse of behavioral demographics and keywords that drive traffic to other sites.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Oh I have used a few survey tools. I have used survey monkey and survey gizmo. I used of constant contact but I dont think you can white label it which was a factor.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Many posts on this forum mention tools but some are self promoting. I just want to compile a list of sites where one can use to obtain SEO/competitive intelligence insights? (Better if there are free ones out there).
For starters, I like using Google's AdWords and Google's Trends.
What do you use?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Canada Fred, I like your style. You said it as it is!

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just tested it and I liked it. Now I will test it tomorrow with client's site and I will report finding if they are significant.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I never heard of warrior forum either but it sure looks very commercial focused.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I will get the app and let you now. It sounds fun and also addictive.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

So I wonder would it help the business if the business decides to include informational snippets on youtube and then the entire video on their corporate site. What do you think?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I agree, but you may have to tweet the same question a few times over since the half life of a tweet could be seconds/minutes only.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes, and to be honest, when I see this option pop up on my Gmail screen and other sites, I decline. Why? Because I still want some privacy.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I think so. Imagine the SEO potential power this represents. This would be great also if it can be extended towards online video analytics.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

My recommendations:
1. increase the value aspect of the user experience
2. constantly promote, promote, promote your site both offline and online
3. Everything you do needs online needs to link to your site and thus, this will help increase the number of potential advertisers.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have used both Radian6 and Techgigy. They are both very extensive and it is sue for strategy development and PR surveillance.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Oh, unfortunately this case has opened additional can of legal worms.

Imagine now this case will also cause many popular sites to revise their disclose form.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I totally agree. I consider tweets as a modern form of easves dropping in elevator conversations but it this world, its not rude to break into the conversation, unlike in the elevator. Thus, being on twitter allows this increased potential reach.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I wish there was a similar tool for WebTrends. I heard only really good things about this plug in. Thanks for sharing.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I just looked at the whole list and noticed most of it is for personal rather than consumer use. I wonder if any of these tools can help business clients increase their lead or client base power.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I wonder if there is a tool available to determine the spam potential factor of followers.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes, many clients do have hesitation towards social media but clients have to understand that somehow in the social media mix, there are opportunities to increase revenue. This way, attaching anything with revenue will increase its lure.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I totally agree with Akki. This original poster information is not contributing valuable content to this board.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Basically, traditional marketing included a print ad, event marketing, and tv/media. Now, interactive marketing has made marketing more dynamic, in some ways cheaper, and more measurable. But there are many companies/people who may be resistant to moving to the new ways, so what do you recommend on moving this transition?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Just remember that if its grey hat - it may quickly become black hat than white hat. So be cautious and careful.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Also make sure the site you recommend/add to the social bookmarking site provides value to the visitors so the site can get voted and it will receive higher visibility and ultimately, visitors and higher conversion rate!

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Social bookmarking sites provide websites a great opportunity for visibility and for SEO. You may find this blog helpful: http://social-media-optimization.com/2008/03/top-10-social-bookmarking-sites/

Similar issue occurred with Myspace. I am glad that Twitter is cutting it in the bud sooner than later and not encounter the same (almost) demise as Myspace.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have heard of Social Media Optimization and I actually provide such type of consulting. Here is an interesting blog relating to SMO - http://social-media-optimization.com/2008/03/top-10-social-bookmarking-sites/

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have tried the following tactics and it still seems spam gets through:
1. individually going through every email and unsubscribe - very time consuming
2. just deleting the email without reading it
3. in some cases - just labeling it as spam

markchicobaby commented: No idea shouldn't be in IT +0
tiger86 commented: your post was correct-- there is no way to absolutely block spam some people just don't want to hear that. +2
InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Thanks for sharing this list. I will go through the majority of them and report findings here soon.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Can you please clarify what this list means? Is this the recommended format to type on Google search box to generate results?

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

My advice is not to follow any Black Hat SEO techniques. This will really hurt the chances of your site appearing on Google's SERP which is detrimental, especially for an e-commerce site.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes, blog ares very fruitful for SEO purposes but one has to really remember that a blog is like a plant, it needs constant attention. The post have to be of value to the visitor, the content has to be relevant, and most of all, it can't be self-promoting. Self promoting blogs relaly turn off the visitors.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I strongly recommend Google AdWords - remember to put each keyword per line. I also recommend to correlate it with Google Trends.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

If you want to capitalize on the fact that your internal page has a PR 4 with lower ranking pages, you may need to strengthen your internal linking. Thus, you have to strengthen the number of internal links through the navigation and optimize it with the content and keywords.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

There are two issues to consider here:
1. Conversion Rate
2. Call To Action

In regards to Conversion Rate, one has to consider the average in general is usually 2-3%. There are ways to optimize these numbers by:
a. improving usability
b. motivating the visitor to dig digger to the site and become more curious on the product
c. invite the visitor to subscribe or sign up for a special deal club

In regards to Call to Action, there has to be one that is visible and enticing.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I would not touch nor recommend Black Hat SEO at all..... Why? If caught, the site that uses Black Hat SEO will be punished by Google by not appearing on SERPs. That is a HUGE price to pay in this market.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes, that thread reminds me a blend between what tr.im did and the self promoters on this site.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

This type of issue was going to come up sooner or later.
One important factor is that the court's stance on this cyber case. This may lead to a plethora of similar cases being reviewed, both in civil and criminal courts.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I will add to Marketing Rob's 5 steps:
1. Retweet tweets from followers who provide great content that your followers may value
2. Constantly seek out other people who you think brings value from their tweets

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Like Marketing Rob, I also come from the market research world and I have an analogy comparing research with journalism, "You gotta ask the right questions to get the right answers."

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Yes, Twitter has been very good killing spammers and they do it silently. The only way you may notice is that your # of Followers goes down. In the beginning, I thought my Followers didn't like my tweets until I discovered the truth. :-)

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I have also tried GoDaddy webhosting and it was just too basic for my needs. Unfortunately, Me.com (mac) website templates are mostly geared for personal rather than business use.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I read a report today about the growing power of Facebook in the e-commerce world and how it poses a serious threat to Amazon. Thus, to answer your question, yes, Facebook is becoming very invasive in more ways than imagined.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

There is a yahoo analytics book coming out that consolidates information from the blog and more.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

I also believe in posting on the boards that have the highest or biggest reach and visibility and post away. That is why Linked In has been a popular site for individuals to answer other questions and build up their reputation as an expert.

InsightsDigital 57 Posting Virtuoso

Since we are talking about wordpress templates, is there any particular host you recommend to use with your wordpress blog? My friend have a fer blogs on Dreamhost and those blogs are constantly down.

I think it has been done already but I am a firm believer that human touch has to also be incorporated. For example, a startup uses social media to promote its new product but such 2.0 tactics cant substitute the human interaction of a business development professional.
