IM Glad IT got on your nerves!!!

Um...it didn't. Those are just the rules put in place by Daniweb. Mabe you should read them sometimes.

FIRSTLY IF you have not got the answer im looking for... HERE'S A THOUGHT - DON'T REPLY... your WASTING my time...

Well you're definitely wasting my time, especially since I volunteer all my time helping all those less intelligent then me, such as you.

Secondly don't EVEN bother giving out orders... BECAUSE people DON'T tend to listen.

1) Not an order, just appying site rules
2) People don't listen: That's quite blatant, just look at you.

FOURTHLY - Do yourself a favour and ... GO get some knowledge if you want to reply to a post THAT u've go no clue on...

Ha, you're funny.

Oh, and I'm closing the thread, by the way.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Heey...TrackPads arn't THAT bad...;)

On any of the rest of the evidence, evolution breaks.

That's quite an overstatement.

I will be personally refraining from stating my views here, as I can see this thread soon becoming a firebrand, but I want to mention one thing.

The only reason evolution is considered more likely than special creation is because of a blind spot in science

That is the only reason that evolution is considered to be more valid than special creation. On any of the rest of the evidence, evolution breaks.

Please keep wide generalizations to yourself. Do not bash Evolution because you yourself don't believe in it.

Likewise, I won't be bashing Creationism, even though I am a believer in evolution. Heck, I'm even an evolution-believing Catholic. ;)

So in short, keep personal opinions that bash other beliefs to yourself.

Thanks.

I thought that when i ran the recovery cd, it automatically reformats for you?

Not really. What happens is that the Recovery CD just replaces the critical files that need replacing.

Anyone ever had to reformat with only a recovery cd?

I think it's possible. Try searching Google for directions.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Have you tried searching Google?

Here's a good help:

Do Internet Explorer and Firefox load all their graphics?

It sounds like the email is disabeling pictures in the email. Are you sure you pressed the link for 'Enable pictures" in the top of the email?

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

1) You might need to reformat

If so, I would get youre files off the computer by hooking your hard drive up as a slave into another computer.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

If none of this works, ya could always hook up the hard drive as a slave on another computer...

I have no clue what their IP adress is.

Just for clarification:
This would be $300,000 per illegal videos/images, correct?

I think up to $300k per violation.

Thanks for anything you can tell me. I am very new to these postings, so I hope I did it right.

It's perfect. I'll just move it to the proper forum. :)

What it sounds like to me is that you got static inside your computer from when you opened the case.

Sadly, the only way I know of fixing this is by using a static belt when working on it. They should be found pretty cheaply from a computer store, although I'm not sure.

Again, that would work only if that's the problem. ;)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Definitely! :)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Not a problem Sabatas!

Thanks again. :)

Hello,

I have one more question, if you all don't mind.

Should I just wait until Leopard arrives? I noticed in one of joeprogrammer's post that it's due out in January/February?

Anybody concur?

Thanks.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Not what I meant, and I'm sure you, 'Stein, as an intelligent human being, knew that.

*tis was WaltP, not I* :)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

What model of Cd-rom are ya using?

And also, what type of computer are you using?

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Hello Ros,

I don't have much experience with servers, but if it was me, I would definitely stick with Apple.

Apple Xserve RAID
Mac OSX Server ed.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Hmm, I'm not too familiar with Macs (But I just ordered one today :)), but did it give you an option to delete them?

One side of me is telling you to not worry about it, mainly because Macs aren't supposed to have viruses.

At the same time, the other side of me is telling you to delete the 'infected' file.

My guess is that McAfee is using heuristic scanning methods, which basically means that it scans for possible dangerous code techniques, rather then comparing the file itself to known viruses.

What does this mean? It's probably a false positive (FP), but I can't promise that.

Thanks.

EDIT:

http://www.mcafee.com/us/enterprise/products/anti_virus/file_servers_desktops/virex.html

Proven anti-virus technology
VirusScan for Mac for Macintosh stops every type of virus and malicious code threat, even compressed files; using advanced heuristics and generic detection,

My guess is that it's a FP.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Have you tried Google?

;)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

I'm not familiar, but I assume you've thoroughly searched Google, correct?

Secondly, please don't bump your thread.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

Hmmm . . . that sounds complicated. But tremendous thanks to you!! (and many reputation raises, too)

It's actually easier then you think. What kind of mouse are you using? If you want, I can see if the directions are online, and walk you through it.

well that sucks, I can't raise it again. Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right?

:) It's definitely the thought that counts.

Thanks again.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

:) I'm happy it worked.

What I did to fix mine was to change the signal for the mouse. In the manual that came with the mouse, there should be a section about changing the signal. Sometimes certain signals are affected by other interference.

Hello fuzi,

Are you by chance using a wireless mouse? If so, that's caused me many problems.

What's happens is that the mouse receiver (what receives the signals) senses that the mouse is constantly moving slightly, which it isn't. Therefore, the 'idleness' needed for the screen saver is never obtained.

Thanks.

Agreed with above. System Mechanic has been known for many FPs (false positives) that encourage the user to buy. For that reason, I would recommend uninstalling it, and not upgrading.

At the same time, I would run a scan with AVG AS (instead of Adaware/Spybot).

Here are instructions for running it:

Hello community,

I was just thinking about it, and I thought of a great idea: the placement of a new section in the control panel where the user could put saved threads.

When the user would find a thread he wanted to save, he could mark it (somehow), and it would be automatically saved in the saved folder.

Oh, and now that I think about it, that'd be alot of work. ;)

Feedback anybody?

http://www.daniweb.com/techtalkforums/post281906-4.html

The beta versions of Vista included quite a bit of debugging software which is not present in the RTM version, which from my estimation increased performance of CPU processing by almost 20%, and my ram usuage is down from 1.5GIG (CPU Idle) at the desktop to well under 700Meg.

As he said, most of the usage can be attributed to debuggers.

And secondly, everything I've read regarding the final release says it's a lot more robust then it appeared when compared to the Betas.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

it is crap

its slow on my 256mb graphics, 2gb ram, 3ghz CPU machine
wtf!

Which version are you using?

And secondly, I assume you're booting it, and not running it from a VPC, etc, right?

Has anyone actually considered why water on Mars is so important, besides the fact that water could inhabit other human life? Hasn't everyone seen "The Day After Tomorrow"?

First off, let's get out of the way that DAT is quite fictional across the board. Nearly all of the events they describe wouldn't happen.

Secondly, realize that if there was life on Mars, it would have evolved to the extreme climates there, and thus that problem wouldn't exist.

Thirdly, water on Mars is important because most scientists regard water as critical to life.

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

And even then, it would be drastically slower then normal Vista.

Where does it say that this is about Narue?

It's the obvious implication. I've been around people long enough to see this.

"Read" the initial thread.

Yes, I've followed it. That's one of my jobs as a moderator.

mainly it's directed to people who are acting like immature children, who enjoy degrading and provoking others.

Provocation = "something that incites, instigates, angers, or irritates."

Would you consider this thread as an instigation?

If you excuse those actions then you justify that person's behavior as proper, which it isn't.

Yet again, you're incorrect. During World War II, Neville Chamberlain tried to ignore Germany's Holocaust. Did he justify this behavior as proper? I strongly doubt it...

I don't force my beliefs

You are completely wrong on that.

;)

'Stein 150 Lapsed Skeptic Team Colleague

trust me I won't loose sleep over it.

Let me remind you that Narue was the one who started this and not me

...Which is why you started this thread, correct? :-|

The fact that some of you defend her says alot about you and tell me what kind of people I'm dealing with.

And likewise. You mention in nearly every post that you arn't bothered by any of this, yet you keep prolonging this. You are just as inconsiderate as Narue (if you think that).

To excuse the actions of people like her is very sad.

And likewise.

Oh, and I thought I just might mention you're breaking the rules by creating this thread.

Do not troll. Always be polite and courteous in your posts, even if you do not agree with another member.

flame other members or post anything that has a good chance of being taken in a bad way.

Actually havn't thought that far in advance. ;)

That's the main thing I'm worried about right now! That's what I did on my most recent PC as well. However, for this one, money won't be as much an issue, as I won't be paying. :)

Thanks Junya for the insight!
