I have never played games on my laptop, despite it being sold as a gaming lappy. I'm a confirmed Xbone man. So why a gaming lappy then? Simples - the power and build of the thing provides me with something which can survive the bashing I tend to give my work tools. Over to Diafol for the double entendre comment :)

I currently don't have a desktop, only laptops, because I found that I could only use the desktop in the office :)

Actually, I have three laptops: my main work one (something of an overspecced powerhouse which was built to last for the long haul), my old one (stays in the office as an emergency spare) and the family one at home (which I rarely use as there are always teenage boys on it).

A 15 year old Mazda Bongo Japanese import van. They started life as a MPV with 8 seats, but as the seats all fold flat to form a bed and there's an option for an automatic rising roof with room to sleep 2 more they became a popular camper van project. Mines currently a dayvan as it's a tintop (no raising roof) but will be getting a rear kitchen fitted over the winter, unless I convert it to LPG instead which will eat all my budget for the moment.

I think, more often than not, if someone knows you are wrong and has spotted the error then they will want to point it out. This could be because they want to help you or the OP, or it could be because it massages their ego, but they would usually want to make the correction nonetheless.

The downvote issue, rather than rep as such, can often be nothing more than a finger slip or a knee jerk reaction, a bad hair day or some knobend who has simply taken a dislike to you for whatever reason. Most of us just ignore the up/down vote stuff to be honest, as we appreciate how fickle it can be.

We long since reached the point where tech companies are selling us upgrades we don't need in order to replace stuff that is perfectly fit for purpose, does everything we need and lasts for many years. They have to, otherwise the revenue stream would dry up. Trouble is, we are (on the whole) stupid enough to fall for it. I am just as much a mug as anyone in this regard although I do manage to only replace my laptop every three years and my phone every other year. :)

About the only hardware which breaks the upgrade for the sake of it rule is printers, which are so crap that they tend to break easily and so cheap (it's all about the consumables) that they are not 'worth' repairing. I truly hate the printer hardware market, with a vengeance. Mainly becuase I hate waste.

My main problem with the whole so-called 'smart' watch technology concept is that so far they have not been that smart at all. The core functionality of all these devices would appear to be able to alert you to things happening on your phone, without you having to look at your phone. Thing is, if I have to have the phone in my pocket anyway why bother adding another bit of tech to access it? Have we become so lazy that looking at your phone is now too much bother? I mean, c'mon, what is a smartwatch actually for?

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

iWatch? Ugly as, pointless as, meh.

iPhone 6? Meh.

iPhone 6+? Meh+.

Thinking Apple has seriously lost the plot. Seeing no reason to upgrade from a 5s to a 6, seeing no reason to buy an iWatch (or any smartwatch for that matter - what a seriously overhyped technology) and seeing little reason to continue my investment in Apple when the time comes to change my phone.

If you record the live match yourself, and have a legal agreement/license with the club to broadcast then yes.

If you mean can you just steal streams from other broadcasters which have already got those agreements and paid large amounts of money for them then, unsurprisingly, the answer is of course bloody not!

Blue Hat SEO is the name of a SEO outfit, it is not a methodology, concept, technique or technology.

There are only two types of SEO, right and wrong. Forget the whole colour-code thing - it's just a distraction. Focus on getting your SEO right, that's all.

Back in the day, when I used to do gadget reviews for the likes of Pocket Lint, I got to see a whole bunch of these type of devices. Bearing in mind they were the earliest attempts at the technology, and I would hope the newest ones have improved, here's what I thought:

More style than substance, in that they had the wow factor but were as good as useless if you wanted to actually do anything productive with them. How responsive they were depended upon the quality of the surface the keyboard was projected upon, along with ambient lighting etc. Fast typing was all but impossible, so very much a case of slow and careful prodding in order to avoid mistakes.

Overall, my conclusion was that if you were not worried about fast typing then you may as well stick to whatever virtual keyboard was supplied with your smartphone/tablet. If you wanted to be able to actually type properly and produce some work beyond SMS or tweet then invest in a folding or portable physical keyboard.

As I say, this was a few years ago. However, the tech looks very similar to the stuff I played with back then. Honestly I would recommend buying from somewhere that allows returns, or find a hight street supplier and go play with it first.

I can sort of understand the curiosity involved with wanting to know why someone has downvoted a post, but believe that the anonymous system works in everyone's best interest. Where reputational voting is concerned, of course, anonymity is removed.

happygeek 2,411 Most Valuable Poster Team Colleague Featured Poster

It could be that the post you had a downvote on was part of a thread which has been deleted? Or maybe someone upvoted and that cancelled out the downvote so there would no longer be any downvoted posts to see?

The thing about disruptive technologies is that they tend to creep up on you without you actually realising it. The answer to the original question is, therefore, nobody knows...
