have a look around www.bootdisk.com and you should fine file and info for creating a boot disk[cd] for when you have no floppy drive ,and just do a search for fdisk and how to use its command to create a new bootable partition on the drive

When learning how to read and interpret HJT logs I was taught never to consider HiJackThis a fixer program but basically a scanner program and that it should not be used as a program to stop auto starts. This is why I always recommend using either Codestuff Starter or another good program, Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel. Hence, my recommendations in my above post.
If daniweb Admins prefer that I no longer make these recommendations to use these programs and prefer that HJT be used for this then I will no longer make start up program recommendations. I did not know that these programs were not allowed here.

no,im sure they are allowed here , i never said not to offer it or for someone not to use it .,just said there was no need for another program ,im sure its a great program ,i downloaded it and will give it a try ,When i was learning how to use hijack a few years ago ,i was never told not to use it to stop programs ,encouraged to use i think if my memory serves me right,i actually use it all the time for that reason on my computer and never encountered a problem for a few years now !! so do keep doing what you are doing ,thank you !

just uncheck the 04's releated to each program, in hijackthis to disable them at start up .no need for another program

maybe in safe mode you could go to the control panel/add and remove programs ans see if you can uninstall the update
or if you are so inclined you could try MS's suggestion .

also ,how dose it connect to his computer ,usb ,i know ,but i had a problem syncing a RCA Lycra when it was plugged into a usb 4 port hub ,that plugged into the back of my computer ,got it to work by plugging it directly into the back of the tower ,bypassing the 4 port hub

usually when you need to activate and it won't ,you just call microsoft and give a bit of bull about the motherboard dying and so on and they will ok it ,have every time i call in such case

i just had a Dell laptop brought to last week ,kids spilled juice on the keyboard ,it acted weird like the alt keys were stuck none of the letter keyse worked except hotkeys likes search and copy and stuff ,tried contact cleaner and blowing it out but only fix for me was a new keyboard ,installed it today and all is fine now

i have done a repair install many time, in doing what you are doing ,although i do recommend a fresh install, i have done the repair on many of my customers computer [that i didn't want to do a fresh install of all programs for one reason or another ]and some have been used that way for the past 2-3 yrs with out any major problems .mind you none have been so dramatic as your cpu maker change

hi,i don't know the program that well but i typed the text,went to tables and drew a box around the text and the text popped out, so i highlighted the text and cut and pasted back into the box .

dose it allow you to drag and drop music onto it in mycomputer ,
you will find a new drive under My Computer, that goes by the players name. There you will see a few different folders, and you can simply drag and drop your music into the Music folder

its not detecting your harddrive ,on bootup go into setup/bios and see if it shows you harddrive there

you could try this ,before you click on the .exe for the program right click it and go to compatibility and chose to run in win95 /256 colors

what did you wipe the keyboard with ,
to me it sort of sounds like a short inside the keyboard .

when winxp is installed it install an administrator account and a user account ,you can get to the admin account by going to safe mode,[hold down f8 key on boot up],go to admin account and control panel/users and create a new user[you ]

or when you turn on the computer if it goes to your user name to click on before it loads the desktop ,don't click on it ,hit the ,ctrl+alt+del keys 3 times ,you should be prompted to type in a user name ,type in administrator ,hit enter !as long as you never put a password on the admin acct it should go to the admin acct!

Power supply ! They can go bad,but still turn on fans and not have enough/correct prower to boot to windows.

One thing i am noticing after the Update is that occasionally the computer is getting stuck or freeze, however you like to put it. I can still move my mouse but i just can't do anything once the computer freezes. then it will unfreeze itself in 3-4 minutes if i leave it alone. what do you think could be causing this ??? thanks.

not sure ,try using ccleaner to clean temp files and other crap,also do the registry clean www.ccleaner.com
and also www.malwarebytes.org to scan for and remove all trojans ans malware fro mthe computer

I am trying to do the repair (I could not run a chkdsk). However, when I get to "welcome to setup" and press continue on my keynoard, nothing happens. I am unable to get past this screen.

have no idea what to tell you as i have no way of know what you are doing wrong, as only you can see the screen in front of you !!

its bad files with viruses or some nasty in them durrrr delete the song go find another download of it.

if it was a ram issue the computer would freeze up and lock up alot does the computer do that if so then go get ram checked other than that its a bad download file

1 gig of ram can be either ,1 stick or 2 stick of 512 totaling 1 gig .it could be bad ram causing you problem ,to test the ram get memtest86 ,better still take it to repair shop and have it fixed
