if it only a single computer license then no its only meant install on one computer ! giving that winxp allowed for up to 6 hardware changes before you had to call to activate winxp again,[had to do that recently on a test computer that i used for testing cpu's and ram ] ,you may be able to install it on a few of them but not legally

This sounds like my issues. It turns on starts up you see windows logo. Then the screen goes black. People say go into safe mode. I can't even do that. I will not allow me to much of anything. I never get to the start menu. If anyone could help me it would truly be appreciated. I only have one computer and I use that for my children homework and homeschool. Thanks guys.

We have ticked the check box option "microphone boost", but still the recorded file volume is very very low. We have observed the sound bar level at recording window showing very less.

free studio,good for lots of conversion,not sure if it actually has the ability to rip commercial dvd like decripter or shrink ,but i use it to do avi and mp4 to dvd fairly well and it free .has many program in one can download u tube video ,or instead download and convert to mp3 , 24 free program in one download

installing regular xp on a laptop should not try to create a recovery partition .
unless you are using a xp reovery disk maybe !

don't assume that, as talked about computer is an Acer ,and sig computer is a Compaq .

my question is did you try running it in its old tower,before you took it all apart

we need some more specifics on the hardware, ie clock speeds of the ram, and cpu

hi,how much custom,did you install the cpu onto the motherboard ,if so did you make sure it had coating of thermal past ,and was making a correct connection
also i would try connecting it all out side the case to make sure its not shorting out in the case some how

i would check the hard drive find out the maker of the drive and go to there web site for a utility to scan drive for problems

oh,talking old computers with 512 meg ram i to would only run xp on those for sur

if your computer struggles with vista, i would not install windows7.

in all honesty windows 7 and windows vista are not that much faster than Windows XP

let people tell you what they want but the fact of the matter is windows vista/7 are only faster if your machine meets a certain level of system specifications which to allot of people is just too expensive.

both vista & 7 eat allot of ram and run slow on single core chips

I love windows 7, it is faster and better than vista, but not enough to make me stop using windows XP on some of my older PCs

i dissagree ,im running on p4 2.8 socket 775 single core ,using hyperthreading ,320 gig hdd and 2 gig ram and it is alot faster than my winxp p4 2.8 socket 478 single core with 1.5 gig ram .
it boots faster ,copies and burns file faster ,converts formats[avi to dvd ,mp4 to dvd and wave to mp3 ect ect ] faster and so on and so on just my opinion

Really? I use Windows XP for a long time now. If I use Vista, probably my computer will be crawling. Is it still advisable to use Windows 7? Because my computer might be slow in using Windows 7.

sounds like you computer is not up to the task ,stick with winxp or buy a new computer with win7 on it

if it were me i would go to device manager and uninstall the video drivers ,and reboot ,and see what happens

hi guys just an observe reading and noticed this ,[Alright, I got them burned to ISO! Ready for the next step.]the not booting to cd could be caused because you didn't burn them correctly ,maybe you just copied the iso to the disk instead of using a iso burn software to correctly burn the iso to disk .

sounds like a neat idea ,but i think you may have let it out of the bag in the wrong way ,you should have made contact with programmer,programmer's for a software company/email client or such and tried to sell them you idea , not let it out on a open forum,at leaast you could have posted it in the software development section

Just to let you know my client came by today & picked up the laptop.
Told him it was either the bio's or the GPU overhaeted & he told me he played alot of games on it.
That explains alot there.
Won't work on alot of laptops with these types of issue having anything to do wth the mobo needing repaired or replaced.
Just mainly all desktops which i'm well familiar with repairing them for all types of issues.
It was worth a shot though.
Learned alot from this.

your welcome , i usually only do desktops to but have changed a few cpu fans and the easy changing of ram and hdd and wireless device on laptops ,never played with bios flashes,haven't flashed a bios in about 6 or 7 yrs

vista can unzip files without 3rd part zip program .

poster can't simply create a bootable cd and copy program executibles to it and expext them to run with out thre being a bach file of sorts to tell the exe wht to do,i use to created my own bootable disk with 5 or 6 programs on it a few yrs back with a thrd pard program but the programs name excapes me now ,was kind of neat actually i still have one here somewhere ,must did it out and find the name of the software maybe .
