First put hijackthis .exe in its own folder on you hard drive ,something like f:\HJT\hijackthis.exe ,because it will make back of fixes incause you need to redo a bad fix .

it like with other companies you don't want to buy the cheapest modles abit is a good company upgrading bios is tricky if you put the wrong bios you can screw up the board that is why you make sure that you know what you are doing

And is also why you only flash it with new bios version if the new one has a fix for a problem you are having .not just for the sake of flashing it !:)

you say they always did dial your broardband dialup connection .

consider youself lucky ,most would be clad it won't install and run on there computer .:)

In IE go to tools/internet options/connections and check off always dial my default connection.
as for opera ,I don't use it sorry .
You can connect using you ISP dialup icon , and then go to IE or opera ,Right !!

Driver or card went bad, hope it's not onboard.

if it is onboard all you would do is put a PCI video card in ,if there is no AGP slot ,disable the onboard ,

system restore back to before you loaded the game .

Log is clean ,lockup and freezes can be caused by any number of hardware/software issues ,like bad ram /video card /cpu ,Heat is a big cause are all the fans working ,power supply is its fan clean and working ,If you have 2 or more sticks of ram you could try removing one and using the computer and if still the same try the other stick!Look inside computerand make sure all fans are working .

Don't shpw no virus ,
First thing is to put hijackthis in its own folder on you c:\ drive ,like C:\HJack,because it save a backup of what it does and they can get lost in a temp folder .
Uou should also run ad-aware and spybot ,update them first , links in my signature .

Hey! The internet works fine on my computer, but when i try and log into hotmail.com it just does nothing, then eventually comes up with 'page cannot be displayed, cannot find server'. When i try and sign into msn messenger, it tries to sign me in then after a while it says:
'We were unable to .NET Messenger Service, possibly because of a problem with the service or with your internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet.'

However, other than hotmail.com, the internet is working fine, and i know that msn messenger is also working because i have asked my friends and other people on other internet forums, and they its working fine from their computers.

I had this problem just the other day ,what i found was in my security settings .IE /tools /internet options /security /trusted sites and put in ,https://hotmail.com ,and in restricted sites i found www.msn.com,i removed it and i also deleted my cookies .and started over .this fixed it for me !:)

My CPU is hitting 100% every 10 - 20 minutes for 2 - 3 minutes, not too sure what it could be.

I got hit by a virus last week and have updated Windows, AV and spyware. Scanned and scanned but still nothing. Run regisrty cleaners / checkers and system performance checkers / boosters, scanned TCP ports and disabled Dcom but still the CPU keeps going outta control freezing my system.

Any help on what is happening is most appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

just curious,was the flash need to fix another problem of did you just do if for the sake of doing it !
I have never flashed such a new machine but i know that the older ones on the first boot after the flash you are to go into the bios and set defaults ,and save changes ,before booting into windows .i this maybe the reason for the cmos checksum error

did yo u search the harddrive for it it should be in c:\program files \windows media player .

I have an Asus a7n8x-x board with a Duron 750 processor(soon to be upgraded to xp2500+), 256 megs of ram, 32meg video card, currently running Me.

All I really do is surf, not much gaming at all. I have a choice of Me, 98Se, or Windows 2000 Server.

Can someone please tell me which OS would be best for me? Stability is a concern after running Me. Will be a while before I can afford XP.

Also, if I decide to go with 98SE, I don't know how to get rid of Me first, so I can then install 98.
