My CD-RW plays but won't burn. My computer is not detecting my CD-RW, but it detects the CD-Rom.

When I go to burn a cd it just says No Device Detected. What could be wrong?

It could be the version of burning software that u are using doesen reconize you burner ,what software are u using .name and version

try kazaa lite instead .or better yet be on the safe computing side and install neither!:)

try spybot and ad-aware in my signature .update before using

If the file doesn't have a zip icon from one of the zip programs ,then you mos tlikely don't have a zip program on you computer .
go to www.winzip.com and download the evaluation version

TallCool1 ,there is an extra http at the start of you link , that has to be removed to make the link work !:)

run Hijack again and fix any of these that are left

I set all security settings to default. When I go to the flash download page

if you mean the ones that XP uses for you desktop ans screensavers ,they usually are in the c:\windows folder ,others are in mydocuments\mypictures and others like ones used by gamesand orther programs are usually in that programs folder.

i just download AIM 5.5 which i can not stand. ive been trying to get back to AIM 5.2 but when i go to sites to download it it redirects me to the new version. does anyone know how i can get back to version 5.2?

Hi. I just registered here. I found the site by searching and the advice found was very helpful. Anyway...to get to the current subject at hand---I too have a problem with my System32 'Windows Explorer' folder opening at start-up. And I believe that I can shed some more light on the problem. I know why mine is showing up. I had installed a monitoring program called I Am Big Brother on my system and once I completely uninstalled the program, I have had the System32 folder problem. Hopefully this information can help some of you techie guys (no offense intended, please excuse the reference ;) ) in figuring out exactly how to end this nuisance. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!! :) S

P.S. The system i am using is Windows XP Home

first you should create you own thread as its gets confusing trying to help 2 people in same thread .I'm pretty sure its spyware releated .

I think you problem is spyware releated ,there are a few programs in my signature that might help ,spybot and ad-aware,update before running ,post back if they remove the program that is causing problem ,also you might want to getthe hijackthis program to ,run and scan and post log here ,do not fix anything in hijackthis yet ,post log first and i'll have a look at the log ,

Its been 2 yrs or so since i used win98 full time ,i do remember not being able to install flash but sorry I don't remember how I fixed problem ,are you saying that it will not install if you click on this link and click INSTALL

First thing to do is download and run CWShredder,in my signature , to run cwshredder click on the .EXE then hit FIX ,
then run hijack this and post a new log and we'll remove anything left after running CWshredder .

i have windows 2000 pro...i ran the antivirus and it was unable to remove something called "Trojan horse downloader.skoob.e" so i tried to put it in the virus vault but it said it cant be removed.

do you have a antivirus program installed on your computer !if not you should get one !

For a couple of weeks I been having an error message come up post startup. It sais something along the line of ""C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\BRIDGE.DLL" could not be found". I've posted in one of the Windows not knowing what it was. Found out it was spyware and was told to delete it using hijackthis. It seemed to solve the problem, but now it's back. I tried using hijackthis again, but it came back again. Anybody know how to permenintly solve this problem?

Run hijackthis and post you log file here and i'll see if i can help you with it .

You could try Start/run ,type in MSCONFIG ,go to startup and check to see if something is checked that looks like C:\windows \system32.exe ,don't change any just post back if you find anything that looks like that .

HP what???? If the system is older it may not be XP compatable. Or the system may not be ACPI compatible.

in IE go to tools/internet options/advanced/ scroll down to printing and make sure its checked off to print background colors and graphics

Here is a fix for you problem but it might be a little more than you feel confortiable do so you might what to get someone who knows computers to help !!when ever editing the registry you should always bak it up ,do this when you open the registry,go to file /export and give it a name you will remember, save it to you mydocuments folder

Here is the solution:
Click on Start/Run and type regedit and click ok. Then navigate
to>Hkey_local_Machine/software/microsoft/windows nt/current
version/winlogon. In the right box go to shell it should read Explorer exe
windows\system32\system32.exe Right click on shell open modify and delete
windows\system32\system32.exe. LEAVE EXPLORER.Exe.in tack and reboot.
This will fix your problem.

Hi- when I click the scroll bar on the side of the browser window in order to scroll down, I often end up a couple of pages from where I was. This seems to depend on where exactly on the scroll bar I click. I don't remember this happening on my previous IE- is there any way to turn it off?

sorry to but in ,was wonder about the folder mine has 69 files in it alot are rundll32.ex releated and other are known programs ,are you saying if i empty this folder my computer will boot faster that it does now ,boot time About 40 seconds !

Has anyone ever heard of a CD-ROM Destroying a CD? I Just had a teacher come to me and said that she put this CD in, 10 seconds later heard a loud POP and ejected the tray and there was nothing gut shards of a CD left. She knows that there are pieces left in the ROM.

If anyone has heard of anything like this happening, let me know. And if it has, what shoud I do about it (Other than replace the ROM)?

yeah it's common , the cd overheated and may have had flaw or small crack in it ,you should be able to clean it out ,best to maybe take it out of the computer ,open the drawer and shake the broken parts out !!

as usual, I have no clue as to what it is. I look at the properties and it says that the device is working fine. I will try re-installing the origional drivers and see what that will do.

sorry to change the subject, but I've heard a lot about "spybott". I've been using Ad-aware (by Lavasoft) for a while and it works just fine. Is Spybott better than Ad-aware?
