Looking great so far. But it look's like there isn't just a script I can use. I am going to have to edit it as there are 100's of options etc :(

Hello. Bit of a random question here.

I have been given a task to do in work. It's basically about 8 Excel sheets that contain similar scenarios like this -

http://i.imgur.com/YohHE.png

I have decided that as it's getting sent out to all the stores in the company that CD would be the best option, so I am going to create a website for it (on the CD, not the actual WWW)

Now instead of creating hundreds of web pages in Dreamweaver is it possible to do something in the webpage where they click the first option and on the same page the next option comes up?

Apologies if this is in the wrong category.

I have a MacBook running Leopard and another laptop running Windows XP. I have them working both and finding eachother using the wiresless router we have.

Now I have Age of Empires 3 and want to have a network game between the two. I want to play over the LAN because I feel it would be more reliable. I have just been and got myself a crossover cable. This is easier because I do not want a wire running to and from the router.

I just wanted to know how do set them up. Will it be a case of just plugging them in? I have done a bit of quick research and people have been saying that IP address, subnet thingamajigs need changed and all sorts! I am home form work in an hour so just hoping to get a feel of it before I get playing :D

Thanks

I am using dreamweaver and have basic knowledge of HTML only :(

Hey all. I have a BT homehub in my house successfully working with two wireless computers. I have another PC in my room which doesnt have a wireless card/adapter. I do however have a D-Link 514 wireless router and some spare network cables. Is there any way I can use this as a wireless extender and then connect a cable from it to my pc.

Thank you. By the way I understand paying £20 for a usb wireless adapter would be easier but I have no cash lol :D

A long time ago a friend showed me a internet based browser (no download needed) that enabled me to visit any internet page in school! I now find that the place that I currently work in have just incoporated their own system that stops me from going onto any website. Some still work but even sports site have been blocked!

Does anyone know of the kind of thing im talking about and where I can get it from. Dont forget it cant be a download. And also, dont worry Im not looking to go onto any bad websites, just check to see how liverpool are doing in the footy !

Cheers all

Thanks for your input, but I do not nave another pc what will go upstairs. Anything else? Or do i just bite the bullet and give someone £60 for a Xbox wireless adaptor?

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Hi all. I have a D-Link DI-514 (wireless router) working great in my house. I am about to get an Xbox 360 and want the Xbox Live. However I do not want to spend £60 on the Xbox adaptor. Nor do I want a massive wire (three stories high) going right through my house. Is there a device that will pick up my wireless connection upstairs and be able to output it to a standard ethernet cable.

WIRELESS ROUTER ----> WIRELESS DEVICE ----> CABLE ----> XBOX

Thanks all, hope my question makes sense :D

I am with WebFusion (part of Pipex) I have upgraded my account in order to get a database. I know nothing of databases and can only design websites using Dreamweaver (not even the HTML coding) the WYSIWUG!

What book or CD or anything would someone recommend for me ( I am not ashamed to call my self a newb lol) so I can teach myself how to add a username and password database to my site.

Hope something like this exists, maybe the "For Dummies" books might help. Please note that I do not have any server software installed, just Dreamweaver. What software aswell. Cheers peeps

I know a bit about websites and my friend knows about database. But we are complete blind to the oposite (if you know what I mean)

Is there a link where It tells me how to add the database (we just want a username and login database) to the website.

Thanks all

Hi all. I pretend to know what I am doing on computers :) and recently watched as my fiancees brother was able to log onto any computer from his laptop. I was thinking he was using the Remote Desktop sharing thing on XP but was a bit confused because it was not stuttery at all. It was as if his laptop was that computer!

Any ideas or was he just using Remote Desktop? The last memory I had of that is that it was a bit stuttery.

Cheers

I have a wireless network on a Netgear router and a wireless router. I want to connect my XDA mini S to the network via the WiFi but I need to enter a network key on the phone.

However the problem is that I do not know how to check my network key for the router. Without the key I cannot connect my phone. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Each system has XP with SP2. I just want to get screenshots of there monitor on my computer. Lockdowns and freezing mouse and sending system messages would be good but I understand I need to pay money for that kind of setup, unless you can tell me how to do it :)

NetVizor worked a treat but every 30mins a message would appear on there computer telling them that they are being watched. But I want it all hidden.

Thank you and hope you can continue to help and advice

How can i switch off EVERY type of information bar? The download ones I dont mind as much but the 'Allow Blocked Content' ones are really annoying.

I have designed my own homepage and even internal links require me to click the information bar, then click Allow Blocked Content!

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks for your help but I looked on that site and didnt find anything, perhaps when not in a hurry you can direct me a bit more. Thanks once again

Whilst here, any other ideas?

I have a small LAN network (5 computers) as part of my small business and I would like a program that lets me monitor these computers from my master one. Things like desktop viewing and locking down would be good. I have found great programs such as NetVisor but since I have only just started this business I cannot really afford the £300 price tag.

So preferably I would like a free one, I understand I will not get much for that but I was hoping that someone here could recommend a program that suits my needs.

Thanks for your time and any help will be appreciated :)

When I put the correct XP disk in it goes. When i take out the disk a few minutes later it pops up again. It doesnt mention which files its struggling with.

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

On another one of my computers I am constantly asked to put in my windowsXP disk because some files are unreconised. I know the system is stable and dont want to reinstall any files. Is there anyway I can disable this pop up from coming up?

Stupid free hosting lol!!!

The picture had this info...

Thank you for your advice. We hope to get broadband soon. Is this easier for internet sharing and is it true that all computers on the network can access the internet at the same time?

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

I think you can change the resource settings by going to device manager, the to the resource tab on the particular item, in this case the mouse. Perhaps try default or automatic setting. Try and find a vacant one. Also check that there are no USB devices plugged in that might affect it.

Im not very good with this but I hope this might push you in the right direction. If not I hope the more advanced guys can help you

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

If your on XP try uninstalling either one then restart your computer. There might be a chance that when windows restarts it will find the item you removed and reinstall it for you and hopefully not using the resource settings that the other item is using

I am sorry if this has been mentioned before but all I need is some information on how to share an AOL Dial-Up Internet connection on a network. I have four computers all networked on a 10mb/s Hub. I dont mind if all four cannot share the one internet connection.

Please advise, thank you very much

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

I would agree with alc6379. I personally recommend that you get XP. Also I think that after you back up data and begin your installation dont do a quick format, its always best that when your gonna start a fresh copy of an operating system that your system is COMPLETELY clean. I have recently had mayor problems on another one of my computers of windows not installing correctly until i picked the longer version of the format.

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Its an AMD Athlon 3200+ (2.2Ghz) 1024 DDR RAM. 160 gig hard drive, 128 mb graphics. Its an MSI motherboard. All relevant drivers are installed. Its a 350w power supply if that helps in any way. As ive mentioned its Windows XP service pack 2 :)

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

you could try delete the shortcut in the start menu. Go to Start, Programs, Start-Up. Then right click on the icon there and click delete. Do that for each one. Hopefully that might help you a small bit

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

A reinstall of windows has not fixed the problem. I will swap with a different power supply and try reinstall windows again. What does a windows repair mean and how do I do it?

Thank you

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Does this sound like the right symptons for it and would your therefore recommend a new power supply or do you think that perhaps it could be my copy of XP or my motherboard?

Thanks so far

I have a custom build PC with Windows XP and SP2. The computer was working fine for about a week until one day I switched it on and it bleeped three times. After checking the manual I think that it was a Memory problem. I switched it on again and it seemed to work.

The problem now is since then I have had a few BSOD (blue screen of death) but yet windows would eventually load. Now after i open a program eventually I will get a Windows Send Error Report. For example when playing songs on Windows Media Player after a while it will come up.

Its a real strange problem but its really annoying, especially since the computer is brand new and was working just fine. I am more than happy to expand on specific parts of this post if I havent made myself clear.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have just installed a new motherboard, new DDR RAM and a new 350w power supply into my pc. When i switch the pc on and try to install a fresh copy of XP around 5mins of the install the computer just dies.

i left it for a bit, switched it back on and went into BIOS and noticed that my CPU temp was an AMAZING 80c!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i didnt even no it cud go this high. I have the headsink and fan, i also have an extra fan on the chasis and an extractor fan.

I have build pcs before but never come across this problem!
Any help would be aprreciated :D

I opened the command prompt program and used it to copy the hal.dll file to the other hard drive. Works like a gem now. Thanks for tryin to help anyway

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Well ill go and purchase a flashlight now and have a proper look. I certainly hope i havent fried the mobo. I have since binned the ram and the psu

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Sorry to post in this thread but i really need help. I have just put the hard drive into another pc and set it as the slave. When the pc loads up it works fine. Now is there any way i can copy the working files from the working hard drive and replace them with the damaged versions on the other hard drive. Ive been told and read that it may be the boot.ini file. I have searched my pc for this file but cant find it.

Please tell me what you recommend. Is it as simple as just replacing the damaged files with the good ones on the decent drive.

Thank You

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Thank you very much for your help Magic. All i have is one more question. I now know how to change that colour, but is there anyway to make that so you can just see the writing, not the box around the icon writing. Basically the default XP way, not the way it was in 95, 98 and ME.

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Thanks for your advice kik786, but there are a number of reasons why id rather not do that :D for a start in the little town in North Wales where i live there are no buildings that are more than 30floors high, nevermind 100.

Anyways, if i wanted to do that i would have done it long ago. Thats also kinda the reason why ive come to this forum - to get help. But i do appreciate your input.

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Thank you, please tell me

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

Yeah i was a bit concerned. I have not had the chance 2 have try fix it yet so ill be doin that soon. Got my new psu and ram comin soon but as you say it mite also be a MB problem, i shall wait and see :D

tcepser 0 Junior Poster in Training

So i guess there aint really many options. Either live with it, or reinstall xp. Oh well. If any1 has any ideas please post.

Thanks
