Since NTP can reduce synchronization offsets to times of the order of a few milliseconds over the public Internet, the ONLY time this question came up is when cellural comms as in base stations were concerned. For all practical considerations NTP is orders of magnitude better than what a human needs.

I can write that is is not phase sync...

How about https://www.w3schools.com/css/tryit.asp?filename=trycss_navbar_horizontal_black_active but adding
background-color: #333; width: 600px;

You can control each menu item width too.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Because that doesn't look like Python code to me I suggest you do two things.

  1. Read https://www.daniweb.com/programming/threads/435023/read-this-before-posting-a-question
  2. Supply your first coding attempt and ask why it fails on what line. That way we get a full look at the rest of the code and work the issue you are facing.

Also, those look like databases, not files. You're a programmer now so grammer matters.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

While https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dadar decodes part of what you posted, What is that second word? What does it mean?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Read https://www.daniweb.com/programming/threads/435023/read-this-before-posting-a-question now.

Expecting others to check over a hundred lines of code is wishful thinking. Always tell what line is problematic.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I think you need to reveal more about what your goal is. That is, in my app I didn't see any new messages when I had CDBURNERXP make a CD or DVD. So messages appear to only be in each app's message system.

If such messages were system wide in Windows, I fear this OS would be even less secure than it is.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'd hit the LO forums but it looks like that error has priors. Such as it may require the 32 bit version of Java. Just get the JDK as it will have the runtime and dev kit all in one.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Be sure to read priors as this is an old question that is just a google away for you to see what's been written before.

Read a few at https://www.google.com/search?q=Why+does+my+google+rank+fluctuate.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

While that was a poorly formatted post I can't guess why your if on line 3 has a semicolon on it.

Read https://www.tutorialspoint.com/cplusplus/cpp_if_else_statement.htm and format your code better next time.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Never. Here I use gmail email for my email server so in years a delay like that never happened.

-> So let's hear more. What email service do you use? Some are pretty awful.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I let this stew for a day so I'm not going to get into actual record formats but comment on what a DNS does.

In short it takes an English (or words) and turns them into the IP address of the server. So let's go with your site is currently at goldfinch.com.
Why not put in a record for email.goldfinch.com and another for your web servers (www.goldfinch.com and goldfinch.com)?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

As someone said "I don't believe you."

Why? You have a web company by your own name and you don't know this or how to research?
Why would folk use your service?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Welcome new member.

As a student, you need to know about google and how to search. Be sure to try your question on google.com

I tried that and wow, one well done question. Next time, ask something not so well done.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Welcome new member.

Here's the thing. You've asked a well beat up question. How do I know? I read a few hits at https://www.google.com/search?q=What+makes+a+website+search+engine-friendly%3F

Can you be a little more specific with your question next time?

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

So an 8 year old netbook? Here you never touch those but show folk where to get 100 USD or close to 100 buck working latops.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Let's go with your idea of a lock. Sure thing. In your frontend app you checkout the doc or file and when it's done check it in. Think of it like books at a library.

So when your next editor/person comes along your front end sees if it's open for check out.

This is not an offer to write any code.

But all this would be best done in a database and not files for most systems. For example I had a client last year that insisted on the database be done in Excel. I would not implement such a system and no one else did either. They were calling in programmer after programmer to fix what they had and no one would accept the job. I did try but they were not interested in why Excel was the wrong answer. Much like files would be for many user editing. As far as I know, they are still crashing and burning.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

My advice is to close this topic as solved and start a new thread asking "How to capture image with Safari" and add the rest of your requirements.

Later in your script you use your browser detection to use the Chrome, IE, Edge and such code for those browsers and Safari code for Safari.

I would take bets you won't find one code to rule them all.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

This was solved over a decade ago by not editing files but using a web front end that would file the content away in a database.

SQL is common today and supports thousands at a time doing data entry to the database.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

OK, so you get the latest LO and watch the tutorial at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWU0WdMJ2Kw

What happens when you bring up that first dialog box?

I have to admit that I did run into a person that refused to update LO. They were stuck in limbo for months searching for help.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Not JC but in case you didn't know. https://www.google.com/search?q=What+is+TLDR+%3F

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Isn't version 5 of LibreOffice out?
Also, doesn't it take more than JDK? Some SQL? MySQL?

Just pulling from memory here, did not google this.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

IE and Safari (why not test with Edge?) are problematic browsers. All we need to do is check caniuse.com and well, that's a deep well and Jimmy keeps getting stuck in the well.

-> At this point you have a solved for most browsers and have to see if this is, in the case of Safari something Apple just doesn't allow. One of the common complaints about Safari I've fielded is autoplay of videos. Apple relaxed that last year at https://webkit.org/blog/6784/new-video-policies-for-ios/

So be sure you are not beating your head against a Safari bulkhead.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Cross browsing? I think you meant the old topic of Browser and Platform Compatibility. I've seen such quests and if you don't maintain a sense of humor and accept this as a silly quest you may be institionalized. Which is why I referenced the end of the Quest for the Holy Grail.

jkon commented: +1 because somebody down-voted it probably because there is some humor in it +9
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I think you're getting it now. Be sure to see how the search for the Holy Grail ended in the movie by Monty Python.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@UI. I'm sorry if my replies upset you. I intend to let you know my view in the open without you getting your site up and then finding out what others think about it. No, I'm not everyone but I did bounce it off others and it went straight down. Keep thinking since many don't do that anymore.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I wonder if the fact you are coding for Oregon that the numbers are lower in value than for Oregon. Remember I don't know your IDE, compiler and more so all I can do is read the cst() function code and see what could be an issue with overflowing a data type.

Again, I can't know what you have for the compiler, IDE, settings and such but that function does look breakable.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I think your question is overly broad. You run the risk of folk telling you to watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNfGyIW7aHM as such a system would have a lot of machinery (code, apps, systems, payment system, databases and more) in the background. To the uninitiated it might seem like a Rube Goldberg design.

But there is hope. It's called System Design. That used to be a class in our programming courses in which you would document how a system works or create a new system. Not everything back then could be automated but today I know we can do it (see video?)

So there it is. You document how it is done now then automate it till it's distilled to that one button.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'll share I don't respond well to strong arm tactics like that. If such a company tried that, they'd get a downvote and maybe some harsh words.

happygeek commented: well said +15
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

What you want may not be possible in all browsers and machines. That's one of our Holy Grail quests.

Somewhere you wrote this was to thwart fake registrations but I wanted to counter that it would be trivial for me to have a fake camera on my device to give you a false image. So you do all this work and folk can easily defeat it.

https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/native-hardware/capturing-images/ tells me you will not reach your goal of "Not video." I hope you'll read the link in this paragraph to see why you must open the camera and the user take the shot.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I went to that site and read a warning about "moving to limited release". This is telling you that it may be deprecated and not something you want to use in a new or old app.

Be sure to report bugs at https://github.com/paypal/sdk-packages/issues and hope the authors work on it.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Common causes I run into are:

  1. The drive that had a working OS now does not.
  2. The OS drive has failed. Bad drive, sectors, disconnected or just missing!
  3. The cable to the OS drive is unplugged.
  4. The port on the motherboard is damaged.
  5. The drive is connected to the wrong motherboard port.
  6. The BIOS was changed from one mode to another.

I find many owners today do not know a thing about their PC and have to work down the usual list and watch out for clues along the way.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I don't know what IDE you use but I'd examine the cst() function in depth. I fear there's a few chances that the integers in there are not the right choice. Maybe you should try a ready to use function for float to string?
https://www.google.com/search?q=float+to+string finds this has priors to read over.

ddanbe commented: kudos! +15
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I would be guessing the goal here, but when I want to see if a string is in another string I refresh my memory at
http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/string/string/find/

In parting, I am unaware of the Bug Language. I would have to guess you meant C++ and don't want to upset you over code formatting but line 2 might get you a F in some computer classes.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Thomas. Keep in mind that HTML and VBS even encrypted can only be done one way as the browsers must be able to use the codes. For the VBS, you have the common decrypt at the link and from RJ above.

HTML however, encrypted? Try https://sourceforge.net/projects/htmlencrypter/ as it's the only one I've see out there.

But then DLLs? That's a whole 'nuther ballgame. I have yet to find a DLL decryptor since that's compiled code, not encrypted at all and the source will never be reversed from that. I'm not going down that road with you. Not that I don't want to but I don't like tar pits.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Thomas. Wait? I had the feeling all these were your codes. Now that you mention a vendor, time to get back to them.

Once in a while someone wants me to help break code like this. But it's not theirs to break. I supplied a link to the most common method I know of so try that and then back to the vendor.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

There's not much on this subject so I'll share a link and watch what happens next.

Code incomplete? I may be missing it but where is arcStart defined, initialized?

Also, can you put this up in an online code play ground? Such as https://www.tutorialspoint.com/compile_java8_online.php

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Sim. I think this is an extension of another open thread you have going.

I'm guessing you want to do this to thwart fake registrations but as we can fake the camera (example at https://github.com/GhostFlying/image-to-camera ) then I can be anyone I want to be.

I'm not writing you should not follow your dreams, I'm writing that you need to think if it's all worth the trouble since it can be easily subverted.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Sim, then you found an use case where it doesn't work. Either recode or try other use cases.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

@Sim. I was careful to write which browser I used on my LG G4. There are browsers that come with the phones and most are limited. So you have to test what does and does not work on each browser and each phone.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Just a note about selecting a PSU. I wish it was as simple as adding more Watts. There are junk PSUs that split the +12V rails and you end up back where you started. So here's my advice.

Go ahead and add 50 to 100 more Watts but also get a "Single Rail" model.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Today, right now, video and audio is sent over a single socket without any work by our programmers. I can not give you code as it's owned by the company but I can reveal that one transport uses RTP. Read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real-time_Transport_Protocol

I would never ask our staff to code that from scratch.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Thanks Dave.

That's a deep subject and can have us discuss a wide range of areas such as what is DaniWeb and social expectations. There is a Read Me First at https://www.daniweb.com/programming/threads/435023/read-this-before-posting-a-question that covers a lot of what many members expect of those that post but before you go there, find Dani's posts about DaniWeb and see if you can get to what she is trying to accomplish.

That said, many folk don't know how forums work or are in a hurry and may show disrepect at first. Somehow, we need to gently give them feedback and not set them on fire then send them screaming into the world telling everyone how mean we are. This is hard. No one said it would be easy.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Look under "Control how other people see you" at https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/27442

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Sorry but you get to code this. It's advanced and my mistake in omitting to ask why do this?

I have to ask since a single connection can pump 1080p video, 5.1 audio and text in less than a 5 megabit link. I can't imagine why you would create a socket for each today.

That out of the way, VLC is open source and ready to serve. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/streaming.html

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I think we've reached an impass. I maintain that the Guest account is not created but enabled and disabled. You claim you want to create the Guest account. So something's wonky here. Wish I was there.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Your design, your choice. But on modern OSes you can have the same app do all three and let the OS run 3 instances. I don't know how long you're been working with Linux and more but the concept of free makes me think you are a DOS thinker where we only had one thread or CPU.

That's OK, you'll catch up soon enough.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

I'm not in that country but searches like this are usually done like this:

  1. Search with google like this:
    https://www.google.com/search?q=Oracle+Fusion+Procurement+Online+Training

  2. Modify the search to include country if needed but since this is Online Training it may not be necessary to be in country.

  3. I read your other post so you are not a newbie. You would test your Online vendor to see if they know their stuff and then check what others wrote about them. Here I use Yelp.com.
rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Then debug your code. Insert print statements so you can find out what it is doing or just go get another sort() function to replace this.

Sorting examples are abundant so no shortage there but I do find new programmers start off with missing debugging skills. To see what your code is doing, add prints or if you use a nice IDE, step step and examine what it is doing.

rproffitt 2,701 https://5calls.org Moderator

Algorith is a machine that uses kinetic energy in order to produce patterns.

I'd use a sort() function next time.
