Does it restart each time the message appears?
Also, I only removed the display driver. I'm not supposed to remove the ethernet driver, right?
Don't remove the ethernet driver.
When you click on the installer does the Nvidia installation window come up?
The specification may be helpful to determine if you have the correct driver. I would not have removed the driver, you could have just downloaded the new driver and the would take its place.
maybe this will work http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm its for Xp but may work for Vista, back up your registry before making changes.
Or you cold try repairing Vista with the installation CD or maybe a system restore partition.
well i tried to install bitdefender but it screwed up in the end.
Did the problems arise after this or were they already present?
Assuming there is no protection on the DVD you could just right click on the icon and copy the folders and files to hard disk.
Or you could create an image of the disk using something like imgburn.
Is this folder empty?
Is there something that you have downloaded in there?
Hello What is the site you were trying to view?
Do other sites work?
Is the internet connection wired or wireless?
Are you trying to delete it via windows Explorer?
Have you performed any changes or installed updates
Okay can you tell us the version of windows, Service pack 1,2 or 3.
Also can you give us the specification of your machine, your family's as well there maybe something similar in the two.
So after you extracted the files you click on the installer?
What graphics card are you using?
You can download programs from another computer as long as you download the right file for the system you install the program on.
"-5003:0xffffec75"
Does this error come up by itself or as a result of attempting to install the driver?
I assume your using Vista? What graphics card are you using?
I am thinking that the laptop isn't setup properly. You should be able to configure monitors with whatever program is used with your graphics card. You can appropriately number your monitors, set up resolutions etc...
Yes, Have you tried pressing F8 as soon as the boot up screen goes try pressing F8.
Hi, Have you tried installing the driver in safe mode?
Some startup programs don't run in safe mode. I would download the drivers disconnect from the internet/network and restart the computer and start in safe mode press F8 before windows loads. Then install the driver.
I think your right bad connection. A Monitor should bypass the problem no harm in trying. Don't forget some modern TV's have a PC monitor connection maybe you don't have to buy a monitor.
Have you checked to see if your monitor is working correctly?
Is it a LCD monitor? If it is it should say something like no signal and turn off after a period of time. Try it with the computer off or if you have a laptop or another computer try it with that.
Are you thinking of installing or buying and then installing?
You can check any system requirements from whoever you buy it off or check Nvidia.
As far as you processor concerns I have a Nvidia 8600GT 1GB and my processor is AMD Athon 3800 and mine runs fine.
Most likely your motherboard will support it as long as it has a PCI-e slot and adequate power.
For what purpose are you buying that graphics card?
Okay, have you charged the battery up?
What I want you to try is charge the battery, the charge light should go off once charged(Do this without the laptop being on). Then remove the powercord and try turning on the laptop.
If this is the same assignment as I am doing and you are at the same place I am, then have a look at your semester one notes section IV processing textual data. Look for isupper this may solve the finding uppercase issue.
There shouldn't be any problem for XP I would not even think about installing Vista on it. What are the system specs? You may be able to dual boot XP and 98.
I think I am doing the same assignment as you. Dont forget there maybe an exclamation mark in normal text. "Hello!" you would be better saying if '<' precedes '!' then add 1 to comment count.
Do you have a PC then?
Okay does your laptop have a VGA port?
If it has a VGA port get a VGA cable and connect it to an ordinary monitior or a TV with a VGA port. This should display what ever would be on the laptop screen.
I would recommend reinstalling the OS anyway- Have you got the original Windows CD?
Does the laptop detect the Hard Drive(In POST or in BIOS)?
When I'm charging the battery the light does come on. But if I'm just using the power cord and no battery the laptop should still come on right?
Yes thats right, it should turn on without the battery and work normally.
can you show us a screenshot of what you see?
You could get an usb SATA cable and copy any data from it to another hard drive, you could also try to replace the MUP.SYS.
Or you could get a linux live CD say ubuntu, and create a bootable USB memory stick and use this on your laptop to get your files.
One more thing have you tried booting without the CD Drive attached? Take it out and try it again.
Maybe the screen has gone. Can you get hold of a VGA cable to connect your laptop to a monitor?
Even if the screen is gone the rest of the laptop may work fine; at least this way you can test to see if anything else is wrong.
You can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NdisWrapper.
I have seen a similar situation here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-wireless-networking-41/netgear-wpn111-wireless-setup-ubuntu-8.4-651429/.
Hope this helps.
Did you simply replace the old hard drive and plug it into the same cable?
What type of hard drive is it SATA or PATA? if it is SATA there is not a master or slave.
Is the CD-ROM detected at boot up? you may see it, if not try pressing tab at boot up or enter BIOS by pressing something like F2.
Does the light flash when you press the power button?
Have you tried it without the battery?
You probably are better off just using the 7200 one as it will probably be faster. I am not sure if you can use two graphics cards at the same time though.
Problem solved then?
Do you mean your screen never turns on or you can't boot from your hard drive?
I assume by CD ROM you mean the CD drive is not detected.
Are you using the same operating system as on the old hard drive?
I don't think you will be able to use both these graphics cards at the same time. You need two of the same graphics cards that support SLI or Crossfire. You can buy them in sets of two that will work together; your motherboard must support it though.
Try reading this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scalable_Link_Interface and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATI_CrossFire.
I meant try another web browser like firefox or chrome.
Okay, when you are charging the battery does the light come on?
I am thinking there is no power getting to laptop. a flashing light usually indicates a flat battery.
If there is something wrong with the harddrive the laptop should bleep, if it doesn't boot up the laptop should still turn on.
Try another web browser to see if it is the browser or something else.
Have you tried powering the laptop without the battery? Take it out and see if it still gets power from the cord.
Have you tried getting the graphics driver updated from ATI?
First, does your laptop detect your CD drive? If yes have you got the CD drive at a higher boot postion. If no then you may want to use an external one.
I think XP may be corrupted try repairing it using the XP CD.
If none of our suggestions help contact HP for help.
Do you mean you can't boot from your hard drive?
Try a linux live CD to test the rest of your components.
You said in the video that the POST says 'fixed disk 0' That makes it sound like you might have a bad sector on your hdd. Have you tried booting it with a different drive?
I believe the term 'fixed disk' means hard disk. fixed being in a fixed location.
Have you tried restoring the defaults in BIOS.
How new is it?
Do you have the product name and number?
I would ask for help from HP. You can look up your product number to see if the issue is known; they may have a solution.
What connections do you need?
for example DVI for laptop, composite for XBOX360 and scart for cable. Look for these connections when buying the TV. You should be able to 'flick' through these by changing the 'source' with a button on the remote or TV.
Have you tried fixing XP using the XP CD?
Have you tried counting the beeps, or are they continous?
Have you checked the boot order?
